  • LET'S GOOOO. Finally got my first tenor sax! The last time I played this thing was my freshman year in college which was a little over 4 years ago. So glad to get into it - now it means I can transcribe Coltrane and Joel Frahm and so many others. Brecker will have to wait a while, I ain't ready for all that. Lol.

Funny memory: One of those butt saving times was when I dropped my VI, took it to Ken, he looked it over for a minute, sat down, put it between his legs, wrapped himself around it - keep in mind Ken was built like Mr America - and gave it a big twist.....while I quietly freaked out!.........It played perfectly :^)

I like your videos Nathan. I am an older sax player. I went to Junior HIgh school with Ed Calle who is a very good friend of mine. He is of course a UM grad. I also took lessons at the U with Dan Bonsanti many, many years ago. I made the choice to not continue with a music career and went to work. I have the ability to pick up the horn after a very long time and come back quickly and sound pretty good. I am also friends with Ken Beason. He overhauled my original bought new Selmer mark 6 alto about a year ago and is now doing a few other horns I left at his home a few months back. Congrats on your Beason horn. He is a master at his craft. AFter seeing yours I will be ordering my custom shop horn once I go pick on my other horns. I am retired after 43 years of work at a fortune 500 company. Keep up the good work with your vids and your playing. At first I thought you were kind of silly but after a while I started to enjoy your sense of humor more and you play very nicely. Congrats. ed.
