  • How does a typical day of an Eventer look like? Han from Han Equestrian visited the Australian Eventing star Amanda Ross and took an exclusive look at her everyday routine - starting with the feeds, cleaning the boxes and, of course, a lot of rinding. But there is much more going on in Ross' stallion and the preparations for Tokyo 2020 are already on its way as well.

    Wonderful video, thanks so much for sharing this with us. What I really enjoyed was how hands on she is with her horses. Yes, she has an assistant, but she's so involved, which I personally think adds another level of dedication and respect. It's not like she just waiting around for someone to hand her the next horse to work, and then she is off to the next one. A lot of top riders out there aren't as hands on and I absolutely think it's not right. I mean it's a partnership you and your horse, and like you said- her attention to detail in all aspects of daily care and training, is inspiring... To be the best you don't go halfway, all in all the time .

    Woo that was really cool having the spotlight on one of our top Aussie stars who are still here! (Most people who want to get to the top end up going to Europe or the US because the opportunities there are far greater - especially in Europe where you've got access to so many high class events against the best riders in the world). She's a star in the Victorian eventing scene so it was really cool to have an insight into her life.

    This is a very cool video, it is so interesting to watch because it is very authentic. I also love that Amanda Ross really takes part in taking care of her horses. The only thing that bugs me, is that the rope halter is not tied correctly. If a horse pulls hard on this, the knot is really hard to undo, especially in an emergency. But hey, no one´s perfect.

      I'm not saying she's physically abusing HER horses but that still by YOUR logic this is okay because it's HER'S.
      Criticizing someone for what they do is not bad especially when they're doing something that has a easier answer and a better solution. How are you ever going to better yourself if you think everything you do is perfect? Simply you can't.

      @destinationaddictionsamsar7894 Před 5 lety +1

      @@solveigheidasteinarsdottir4194 what I mean is that she owns way to many horses she can't give her attention to.
      1 she locks them all in a stall. Even if she lets them out a few minutes its not enough. She can only ride/give attention to one/two horses at a time. As you see in the video the horses are desperate for attention from her. Not to mention keeping a horse locked in a stall is not good as horses only sleep a few minutes all threw out the day and night.
      2 she says she goes by a schedule but how does that work for each horse? Each horse has different needs and should not be treated the same like in a schedule. How does that even work? She takes one horse at a time or only works one horse for a week than the next horse? Either way the horses aren't learning anything.
      3 she fixes her horses problems by giving them sugary human food. I can't tell you how dangerous this is with horses. Colic can happen. Not to mention she talt it a bad lesson that she's rewarding it for. That kids would see this and do the same.
      I'm not saying you can't own many horses, if you keep them as a herd out in pasture and you have enough time to work with each and everyone of them. Then I'm completely fine with it. If someone owns so many horses because they lease them or does liberty with them.

      Physical labor takes a toll on human feet and joints too when we do physical labor. These horses were bred for sport. They would not do much better standing in a stall or field all day looking pretty, but doing nothing. Yes, injuries happen, but given the choice between the care and lives top level sport horses live as opposed to a horse fending for itself in the wild, I will take this care for myself any day. Lol

      Susan Flowers what damage and what suffering? If the horse was in pain, they 100% have the ability to get the human off. My horse gets her hooves tended to every 6 weeks. If my farrier had concerns, they would inform me and find a solution. There are vets too...the horse’s well-being is literally a top priority for anyone who owns a horse.
