One thing about Bolt Action that never gets any credit when compared to 40K is how much better and more interesting/immersive the terrain is. Every 40K battle almost seems two dimensional and every battle these days is a cityfight and nothing else is really possible in a competitive way.
That's more of a player thing surely.

I have to say. I love these sculpted boards. And what James has done looks bloody fantastic.
The battle mats are useful, but feel inauthentic when it comes to the actual game. Like it's just some flat plane simulation with some generated objects in it to break up the flatness.
A very cool board and good game , every time I play or see bolt action I think “ my god pinning is so potent “ hard to under estimate how strong it is to have that tiger pinned for like 3 turns, crazy. It’s such a game changing mechanic when you lean heavy into it.

Couple of points though.
The 2 sqaud in the hannomag each had 2 pina from the prep bombarment. Pg115/116 (units aboard transports), para2.
The tiger shouldnt have reversed after the failed order test as there was no visible enemy in the front arc of ths tank. Pg100/101 (vehicles and orders), Para 3
At min 31 the Volks Grenadeer squad enter the building. They cant then shoot as you have to issue a run order to enter a building. Pg 121 (Entering buildings), para 1.
hello :) on those pin markers if you look closely they are numbered. one part of the explosion is actually an arrow and it can be rotated to show how many pins a unit has. they are hard to read so i just go over the numbers with white paint and mark the indicating arrow as well! that way you can have lessmarkers cluttering up that beautiful board.thanks for the video

Great table and great game. A couple of rules, the PIAT team should have been hit on 6’s as they were small team. Also hanomag should have been destroyed as it is open topped. When assaulting open topped vehicles they are automatically destroyed if hit. Just to let you know. Really enjoyable watch thanks.

You are right we did miss the small team! However I thought for open topped in combat you still had to damage the vehicle, but if you do you dont roll on the table it just gets destroyed.

As a long time watcher of Morrison glory, I really really appreciate that you’re playing bolt action. Excellent game and I think these battle reports will get people into the game. Cheaper then 40K, hardly any alpha strikes, much more tactics I just love it :)

Could someone check if I did something wrong or if they changed something because when I tried to recreate it, the price was 1010 instead of 1000. And I don't know if the Panzer Granadier always cost 55 or they changed it from 50 to 55

Yes usually it is who causes more casualties in close combat is the winner, that is unless one side has the fanatics rule and so you keep at it until there is only one left standing then and only then they have to roll a morale test and if they fail they flee. They are the only types in the game that does not have to follow the whole who ever causes more casulties wins, it's more like did we whittle them down to net zero and so not have to keep at this. I seen just a regular IJA squad of 14 men wipe the floor of 2 , 10 men a piece vet US infantry squads all because with Fanatics as long as there is more than one left you keep fighting. So one got toasted in the first hand to hand round, then the other the US player only had 4 men left!

I play germans. My mate commandos. When ive used my sniper to pick of his units and chose ehich chap dies. He states commandos have a rule that allows them to be exempt from exceptional kills and he chooses which chap dies instead. Is that correct?

The ‘down order’ remaining out of the bag is decided at the end of the turn, so you would do the D3 pins then.

When that light mortar hit, it was not exceptional damage so you could kill whoever you wanted. Initiative training is when the NCO is killed, on a 2+ choose another model.
