I just pulled my TL out of retirement and it hasn't been started up in 20 years. Last time I raced it I broke 5 ribs and dislocated my ankle. I'm 57 I don't know what the hell I'm thinking LOL
Those bikes are no joke and you better respect them, really for the twins of that era that was the best and would destroy a 916 or VTR superhawk maybe better a RC51 too
The engines are fantastic for the most part, and do tend to make substantial power. The brakes, suspension and frame are all a joke out of the box though... that's why so much underground support exists.
If you want a really good bike put a TLR engine in the ducati 916 frame swap is pretty straightforward rear mounts line up and you can buy a kit for the front.
@TheNiceBiker Yes sir, it was tuned with a power commander. Keep in mind that you don't stand to gain much if your bike is stock, the power commander is simply for adjusting fuel. If you have an aftermarket air filter or air box, and an exhaust, you will see gains with a tune and the bike will run better.
@@TheFpsraabI had an S, with one down, two up gearing, full yosh carbon hi mounts, k&n filter, and a power commander.. None of my friends with" faster bikes" could get away from me at that time, including an 01 R1, same era Gixxer750s, etc.. The only guys I couldn't hang with are higher speeds were Busas, and such.. Hands down my fav bike I've ever owned . I'm thinking of getting another one lol..I totally forgot to mention, it doesn't hurt that I'm about 160 pounds and only 5'10 in height..I had a buddy with aTLR.. He did all the same mods and couldn't figure out how I pulled away from him.. On one where he had, what like 10 more h.p, or so.. But he weighed at least a hundred pounds more than me lol
@kevinh4910 Every bolt on you can imagine, basically. Stock internals. I picked up 3 lb/ft of torque going to the ladybird exhaust, and lost around a half a horse on power. It was worth it due to all the weight savings. Intake tubes, air box, home made velocity stacks, tre, cbr1000rr injectors, pair valve delete, plus mod, 520 conversion, bpf front end, magnesium wheels, lightened rotors, ceramic wheel bearings, pc3. Basically the next step is higher compression or big bore.... been considering tuning the bike on oxygenated fuel, as I'll get the same results. 😅

My ladybird lost a around a half horse but gained 3 lb/ft.

I have D&D full exhaust on mine. I hated the cans. I found a nice used pair of scorpions and put them on. She sounds mean.
