@@thegreathambino9561 The biggest narative shortcoming of Battle Tendency was Luck trumping Merit, IMO. Made it impossible for me to see Joseph as a worthy protagonist even though he's the most entertaining JoJo. I just ended up sympathizing with the Pillar Men way more than the humans.
And used his strategys diferent from some edgy tenager that stoled the villains ability from saying " So ItS ThE SaMe TyPe oF StAnD WaS StAr pLaTiNuM"
@@thegreathambino9561 It's occurred to me upon reading the manga that Santana should have been able to just allow the metal stake and chain to phase through his flesh the same way he did with bullets. Joseph shouldn't have been able to drag him to the door at all.
Esidisi was fully fired up when Joseph did the trick with the yarn, which means his body should have just burnt the yarn as soon as it touched him.
Joseph cheated repeatedly in his fight against Whamu, yet Whamu just gave up and let himself be finished instead of eating a vampire to level the playing feild.
Joseph didn't just have good luck. Araki wrote his wins poorly. The Pillar Men should have won, every last one of them. The vampire Straizo was Joseph's only legitimate win, and even that involved him pulling an entire arsenal out of hammer space.
Part 3 Joseph had more legitimate wins than part 2 Joseph.
When you realize that Wamuu became a Jobro right before he died. What an absolute chad of a warrior

Not really. Whamu let himself die instead of calling Joseph on his dishonerable cheating and eating those vampires to re-set the fight. Whamu was being both foolish and selfish, not a good soldier.
Esidisi was actual best boy and should have won because his body should have burnt the yarn. The plan should not have worked. All in all, though, Esidisi was incredibly loyal, being the only person who stood with Kars against their whole race, and sacrificing himself to prevent the protagonists from intercepting the package before it leaves the country, to get the stone to Kars, which makes him a better soldier than Whamu as well as more loyal and more effective.

It's kinda sad to know that Santana and Wamuu never had a chance to live normal pillar men lives.
Their parents were killed by Kars when they were just newborns and he raised them to be nothing more than his servants, brainwashing them with his darwinistic philosophy.
They never had a chance to live free of his influence and follow their own paths.
And for Santana it was worse, considering Kars said he was “only useful as a guard dog,” and left him behind in the New World while he, Esidisi, and Wamuu went to the Old Worlds to search for the perfect Aja.
Wamuu's death was sad but i honored my salute to him for being a true warrior

I agree. Even more than dying infinite deaths like Diavolo to me because Diavolo literally has all possibilities that can be thought of for death including dying at like age 100 or with a family by his side and legacy left behind and would probably go numb to the paranoia and anxiety from his previous deaths unlike Kars who cannot move see or now even think.

@@josephjoestar5248 Narative wise I don't think it was conveyed well that Joseph needs to stop them. He didn't come off as that sympathetic to me. I have kind of a love hate relationship with Joseph in that way, as I did enjoy him as a character even though I thought his reasons for his behavior were stupid. A protagonist is supposed to have something they are trying to achieve and the antagonist is supposed to oppose them and be an obstacle. But Joseph just picked a fight on behalf of a Nazi soldier even when the Pillar Men weren't looking to kill any more people and tried to warn him off. Kars fills the traditional protag role better, as he has a goal and good reasons for pursuing the goal.

Pillar Men are ancient people it's just that the ones that are still alive wore the vampire mask and such, and when humans discovered them they called them demons and other bad stuff which is why they hate humans.
