    What people don't understand was that, at the time The Miz was on FIRE. He had an incredible heel run with the US title, cut some of the best promos on the show (especially the one about getting kicked out of the locker room), and was getting heat from the crowd like no one else. Sure his matches weren't 5-star classics, but they were a lot better than what people like to give him credit for. The main problem with Miz's title run was that he was just a pawn that was used to set up Cena vs. The Rock. Instead of focusing on building a new star and turning an upper-midcarder guy into a permanent main event player, they used him to help a part-time talent that would leave just 2 years later.

      I remember at the time Miz definitely was super hot, but looking back on it its like wow, I FKing hate the Miz, I can't watch him. That whole thing with Daniel Bryan, I thought both of them buried themselves, they both sounded like idiots on that show and Miz always sounds like a bitch.

    It should've been CM Punk in the WM27 main event against Cena with Cena as champion and have Rock cost him the title, but then we may not have gotten Punk's infamous pipe bomb.

    • @jarchgoddess3252
      @jarchgoddess3252 Před 8 lety

      +Roguemember They should've pushed Punk from the beginning anyway. The pipebomb was a result of Punk's frustration---yet if they pushed CM right from the jump as a top guy with great storylines & kept him protected, then the "pipeomb" wouldn't be necessary. We'd still have a kickass, badass wrestler and he probably would've never left WWE in 2014.

      Yeah, they missed a great opportunity in 2006 when they didn't give Punk the ECW title. That's a reason why Heyman left that year. But nope, it had to go to Bobby Lashley. That guy was protected.

He still would've been leaving in July which is where the pipebomb began, was the open discussion of him leaving with the WWE title, how much better would it have been if HE walked of mania with the title and from mania to July, guys have been trying to take the title off him but have failed..could've had Orton in there trying to win the title, hell could've got a three way between Cena Orton and Punk or four way adding in Barrett. Just made so much more sense!

    I thought the Miz's best work was from late 2009 - May 2011 being his really good and Lengthy US title reign and short lived alliance with Big show as double champ, then winning MITB and eventually having the WWE title reign, Miz was cutting some really good promos, getting major heat from the crowd and was also putting some some solid matches, Of course most of you IWC sheep hate the guy because he doesn't have a huge moveset or fly around the ring like bug or have an bland, vanilla personality since that's what most IWC fans crave, boring, dull characters like Seth Rollins.
    I'm not the biggest Miz fan but he did a good job as WWE champ for not being ready, it was obviously too big of a spot for him at the time but he did the best he could do and he's in the position he is now because WWE dropped the ball with him and never cared enough to pick it back up.

    Brian Gewirtz was a big fan of Miz back during his "Road Rules" days, so he strapped a rocket on his back the minute he got to the main roster. Check Miz's Win-Loss record during that time. He won every single feud except against Cena and Bret Hart, who coincidentally were the only two people he had back to back losses against during his years long push.

    The WWE title in early 2011 was the most dodgiest road ever. It was the main fault in WM 27. All that was to do was to promote Rock vs Cena. But if it wasn't for HHH and Takers match. Plus Ortons and Punks. Then it may be the worst WM ever. As much as Miz may personally see this as his golden moment and may bring it up as a landmark in WWE. I see it as it's darkest booking slum. A bad nightmare if you will. Would have been better if Orton got title back and it was Punk vs Randy for title then have Miz cash in a month later so it can set up Punks moment of glory. Then the match he had with Cena. Cena could have wrestled anyone at that PPV and the Rock can still interfere and cost him. But hey too late now. The Miz was never a draw so who ever thought it was a brilliant idea for him to be champion at Mania is seriously not right in head.

  • @mindphreak4money
    @mindphreak4money Před 10 lety +7

    Here's my personal take, on why The Miz was placed into the WRESTLEMANIA card. The WWE wanted a guy, who understood that he was NOT supposed to "outshine" either THE ROCK nor John Cena. They required someone who would "milk" the WWE title picture, for a short period of time, but then when it came time for the ROCK vs Cena program to go into full swing; the "filler guy" (The Miz) would fade into relative obscurity, and it wouldn't be questioned. With Wade Barrett in that spot; he actually has talent and fighting ability; so the crowd would have actually enjoyed the match. A lot of people actually RESPECT Barrett's in-ring ability, and there would have been a risk, that the crowd might have actually leaned towards him, in a match against Cena. The Rock might have even gotten jeered for interfering in a match like that. I mean; Barrett is so willing to put in work, that he's starting to make the BAD NEWS BARRETT persona; slightly entertaining. Essentially; The MIZ is a slightly BETTER LOOKING version of Mick Foley during his initial WWE Title run. Generally a "bench warmer", who gets a short run once and a while, but knows when it's time to drop the title to REAL MAIN EVENT PLAYERS. Wade Barrett would have never just played the filler position.

    What hurt the Miz, was that whenever he was on television he would lose viewers, in the Main Event Time Slot, and buyrates for his PPV Title Matches weren't nearly as good as they were years prior. One of those thing were it came down to wether he was drawing or not, and they felt he wasn't, no matter how entertaining he was.

    I kinda of liked Miz run as the champ. They had the upset victory when he won against Orton which was handled well. Sure his rivalry with King could of been handled better (they should of let King hold the title and then hot potato back to Miz) and having The Rock over shadow the main event was a bit of a mistake. But at the time it worked, I think looking back it could of been better but all in all I thought the "I proved everyone wrong" attitude of The Miz at the time worked.

    This is one of the issues of WWE dropping the ball and not the talent. The Miz did everything correctly. He continued to get himself over even though we was losing a majority of his matches. Leading up to Mania, Miz was having pretty decent matches too. His feud with Daniel Bryan proved that not only could he work, but he could also make a story work. The pop Bryan got when winning the U.S. title would not have been nearly as big had the Miz not been a good heel. His match with Cena had barely any heat to it, and the little it did have was because of Miz. This was probably the worst era of Cena, his character was stale at this point and the matches were mostly average. It wasn't until Cena started working with Punk that his career was rejuvenated.
    The main event for Mania 27 was so lackluster and it ended what was a pretty good show on a very bad note. The miz and both Cena were made to look 2nd rate compared to Rock. Not only did they leave the top face of the company laying, but also their #1 heel. How does anyone get over on that? Miz did everything correctly leading up to Mania. He had a successful TV feud with Lawler, a great match with Morrison(should've been at the Rumble) He brought in a lot of media that generally probably wouldn't have gave two shits about it. He improved his character and matches to the point of being a legitimate star. WWE fumbled it and Miz has never recovered. He dropped the belt a month later in what was a pretty good cage match. Then proceeded to have a shitty IQuit match that was only designed to make Cena look good. He continued with an alright team with Truth, but it was never going to be anything of note.
    Look where he's at now, he had a failed face experiment, which once again isn't necessarily his fault, what good heel did he work with? It's funny how twice in the same year, WWE dropped the ball with two separate top Heels (Del Rio), and they never fully recovered.

    CM Punk should've been given that exact role! He was already added to the Nexus soon after so his target WAS John Cena. It also would've made sense since The Rock would eventually face CM Punk for the WWE Championship! Miz should've been the first guy to cash in and fail!

    As much as I like Miz... the truth is he plugged more into the reality of how our Media has justified "reality celebrity" to people who genuinely work and earn it. That is the real reason John Cena is so hated, because he worked and was loyal.
    The big problem is.. they are trying to manufacture the same thing with Seth Rollins, and the role doesn't fit.

He turned face during the PG era, so the way he was booked sucked. He is one of the best wrestlers. I guess it tells you I'm a great wrestling fan, which I am. I've been watching since 1995 so when I say Cena is the best you'd best listen.

    Because it was the very worst era in WWF/E history and Cena needed a new heel to work with after Barrett at Mania.

      I wouldn't say terrible. He was good enough for Ric Flair to make him his protege. Unfortuanately that fell apart when Reid Flair died. I wonder if Ric will ever want to get back to teaching The Miz. The Miz even mastered the Figure 4 and was making people tap with it.

    JBL has to be the worst champion in history. The Miz tells funny jokes sometimes. JBL is not funny or entertaining at all. His promos are more boring than C-Span. I don't see what the fuss is about Randy Orton. I'm definitely not a Miz fan, but he was only a 1-time champ. I can't count the number of times Blandy Bore-ton has been the champ, but it will probably be about 50 by the time he retires.
