[TAS] N64 Banjo-Kazooie "100%" by Hyperresonance in

Banjo-Kazooie stars the bear-bird team of Banjo and Kazooie, who are searching for Jiggies, or Jigsaw puzzle pieces, to unlock doors and save Banjo's sister from a rhyming witch. Even though Banjo's name is first, Kazooie ends up doing most of the heavy lifting as new skills are developed.
In this run, Hyperresonance ( tasvideos.org/... ) collects all 100 Jiggies hidden throughout the game.
This is an improvement of 24:40.71 over the previous movie. This was possible with overwhelming route changes (and much better route planning ahead), a myriad of new glitches and tricks, and much more optimized movement. This movie loses some time to loading zones on BizHawk vs Mupen (about 2 minutes), so the final time is not quite indicative of how good the run is. With console like loading zones, this would be a 1:57.

Absolutely nothing, you can technically do all this yourself if you dedicate enough to it. The tool is basically you playing on an emulator, slowing down the speed, and then using multiple savestates to then weave together what should be the perfect hypothetical speedrun. Hence the name, Tool Assisted Speedrun.

The camera is a problem but it was only an issue in bubblegloop swamp with the narrow passage. That and the engine room in rusty bucket bay to a lesser degree

I just finished the game, so I came here. This TAS is amazing.
Then I check the speedruns. How the heck the 100% on a N64 hardware is 2h 01m 03s (1h 53m 33s in-game time) ??
Are hoomans even with TAS now?

This TAS doesn't use Furnace Fun Moves which saves several minutes, as well as some new routes that have been discovered. Keep in mind as well that even though Stiv uses that, the game time for this run (1:45:04) is still over 8 minutes faster

I feel like maybe the animation for when you get the jiggy in the crab could be skipped by getting damaged from a crab into the jiggy

In order for damage cancels to work you actually have to touch the jiggy on the same frame you touch the enemy. So in this case it wouldn't work

Hyperresonance it takes 4 seconds to collect a jiggy.
You could’ve still saved frames by touching the crab, you still would’ve had 1 hp left, then you’d collect the other enemy’s hp drop and then save a few seconds.
Or is it because of RNG manipulation?
(I’ve never gotten to Treasure Cove yet. I’m still trying to 100% the first area, and idk if the health drops from the crab enemies are 100%)

I'm not sure what you mean. I could have not taken damage by manipulating the crabs to be farther away and save a bit of time, but I can't do a damage cancel here. You have to touch the enemy on the first frame you touch the jiggy. You can't just grab the jiggy and fall onto it. I'm not quite sure I understand your strat

Clipping is definitely doable non TAS but getting the propeller jiggy is frame perfect. If you miss it you die so I would not recommend it :)
