Last season, it took us until October to score 3 league goals! 5 changes made from the side that won on Saturday. It was a stunning performance from Gills! 💙
Highlights are very flattering to Southampton tbh. Gills had a good few chances including a dubious disallowed goal and a reaction save that should have gone in.
Not the end of the world.Less games to play in a busy season and got too see who isnt good enough from the reserves.Fair play Gillingham. We March On !!🔴🔴⚪⚪
Get used to it. Will take a while for Martin to get off the line. Did with Swansea then towards the end had them playing some nice footy. Only downside is the defending
It's not been a good 24 hours for Southampton fans. Going out this cup competition to a team 2 leagues below them and losing Ward-Prowse to West Ham. 😂😂😂
The lack of intensity in our play is shocking, so passive and slow. Even lower league teams beat us just by running harder and getting the ball in our box. We should be glad to sell as many as we can and bring in hungry players with fight.
It’s not a shock though, some of us know exactly what MartinBall is all about, they had 72% possession and lost 3-1, Southampton supporters need to get used to this and super fast, it’s how Russ works 🤣 his defences are non existent
We were playing a backup left back and lyanco at CB, no wonder our defence is non existent, the three goals we conceded were set pieces anyway, which has been our weakness before Martin came in
I agree, this style is too passive for me, but I think the main issue is our defence at set-pieces. We conceded from one against Wednesday and last night we conceded twice from second phases after set-pieces.
@@tomisthesound speak of the devil. What does it matter what game it is? It's almost a full set of 'PL players' against a league 2 side... there is no excuse????
English stadiums went to all seated (apart from some with new stadiums) after accidents like Hillsborough, but last I heard there were plans to introduce standing again. My club Stockport County's ground Edgeley Park is an all seater stadium
Live in Berlin mate, and am a Gillingham fan. The reason why Southampton fans sat where they were, is because that is our away supporters end. Most clubs do not bring that many down to Gillingham in L2. Accrington Stanley this coming saturday will probably bring less than 100 fans and will be seated at the end of the stand parallel to the open end. The open end will be closed most probably. We would never ever seat away fans in the Rainham End or the main Stand. These ends are 100 pro cent home fans. All the best Dave
@@davidwilliamgay4821 good win for you lads on the weekend against us and a great following from yourselves for the match 👍 I reckon we'll both do well this season🤞Good luck for the season anyway mate!

Southampton got their just desserts here. Not putting your best available players on the pitch is disrespectful of the opposition. It happens alot with the "big' teams. There should be a rule that "forces' each team to have their best players on the field in all competitions, if they are unwilling to do so they shouldn't be in the competition in the 1st place. It won't happen, of course, the organisers want the Man. U''s and Arsenal's of this world to boost the TV ratings even if it short changes the spectators and viewers.
@@tomisthesound he is dumb seriously you can't play the same players on a constant schedule there's injuries and fatigue I learned that from fifa I get a squad sign some players they get injured then the backup players play. An ageing side Can struggle

Alex McCarthy has the reflexes of a can of baked beans. Responds to a shot 5 minutes after its been taken
He got people on the way he cant see thank you
@alexisborges6029 the ball has no speed on it because it bounces and he gets beaten at the near post even though it bounces pretty high initially
9 months later and he’s kept a clean sheet at Wembley to take you to the Premier League
Gillingham deserve more credit

Well done Gills great result good luck next round.
Salty owls fan after youse got pumped by Saints.
Hopefully that's the last performance in a Saints shirt from some of our players.
Good game between Gillingham v Southampton . Enjoyed this one.

Gillingham wanted it more imo. Have to say, one of the most dull commentaries I have heard for a while.

If JWP leaves for West Ham we will burn the stadium down.

Far from a prem team.
Up the gills!
Why do the supporters sit in the home end? That would be very unusual in Germany (I'm German). Is standing prohibited?
English stadiums went to all seated (apart from some with new stadiums) after accidents like Hillsborough, but last I heard there were plans to introduce standing again. My club Stockport County's ground Edgeley Park is an all seater stadium
Some grounds already have certain sections of standing but most ground are still all seated

Yeah players need rest. Plus they need to give other players game time to actually have a start in their career and especially youngsters.
What a terrible take. Absolutely clueless.

Hilarious
McCarthy should’ve saved at least two of those goals. Need a better goalie
