Fact is there not much scope of eclectronics part of CSE in today's IT industry jobs. Mostly in IT industry application oriented projects. There very few companies who really use knowledge or application related to electronics.
That means even if one chose CSE they have to work in IT companies where mostly they get scope of application development.
IT branch in that sense is perfect fit for IT industry.

You can't do mtech in IT

You are worong in the matter on gov jobs. IT is not accepted in ISRO or BARC in place of CSE/ CE.
