Deseret Power Railway in 2023

The Deseret Power Railway delivers coal to the Bonanza Power Plant in Utah from the Deserado Mine about 34 miles away. The line is completely isolated from the national rail network. One or sometimes two trips between the mine and power plant run on weekdays (Never on weekends if I recall), each delivering 45 loaded coal cars. This video was shot in late July 2023.

I thought the GE E60's stopped running in 2019. I am happy to see they are still going on this Railway.

That was the black Mesa and lake Powell railroad in Arizona that closed. This is the deseret power railroad in Utah

seems like its in the morning. When I went they were already done with the first train by 11 and the second train started loading around 2. I think they only run two trains in a day once or twice a week. There is a couple public internet forms that have some more information.

To my knowledge they run 1-2 round trips per day Monday-Thursday with an extra trip on Friday if needed. From what I’ve heard they tend to run more trips earlier in the week and are less likely to run two trips on Thursday/Friday, but sometimes only 1 on Monday.
