I don't think you picked up off on this but Senshi named the kelpie from earlier after the horse they had to eat, Anne. So that makes what went down with Anne the kelpie even more tragic

Gotta contend your reasoning man Senshi did ate a Hippogriff, based on the fact Laios insinuated that the Griffin he killed was indeed originally a Hippogriff.
He explained that the Griffin fought like a Hippogriff does by using its hind leg from last episode, plus the fact that from previous adventurer records this floor wasnt supposed to have Griffins

Also i guess they implied Hippogriff arent carnivores while Griffins are, since Senshi wasnt imediatly killed and eaten

I think major reactors missed this detail, but when Marcille said "This is where we were originally headed!", is that the door was their original mission going deep into the dungeon.
Before the anime begin, Laios party were supposed to investigate this particular door, and possibly map the area beyond it. The floor before the door area was thought to be the deepest part ever recorded. Red dragon happened and they never got to reach this place.

If it adheres to old-school D&D Polymorph Any Object rules, it needs to pass a representative likeness test. While a true powergamer (in-universe an extremely creative and philosophical erratic wizard) could "define" things as like other things to justify the morph, or even daisy-chain a couple morphs in sequence to make it work, in general that representation rule is pretty ironclad.
Of course, the Mad Wizard is very much that creative and philosophical erratic wizard, throwing around Polymorphs rather freely. He wouldn't have a problem using a changeling effect to turn Hippogriff into Human, especially on a small scale like one flank steak. So it is possible, I'd say, but not with the mindsets and powers they have on-hand.

THIS IS NOT A SPOILER. This is something thats in the manga but they took it out for this episode. But changelings can only turn living things to their closely related species. The gang are all humanoid species with the exception of izutsumi who is a beastman so she turned into a kobold. So that means it is impossible for a human to change into a griffin or vice versa.

13:56 I think Kensuke was supposed to belong with the armor of the "champion" or "chosen one" the kingdom ghosts heard from a prophesy of, and so the "chosen one" is supposed to be the only one to access this door with the sword. There might've been a reason for why the living armor had mullosks in the first place, for one that they may have been trained to be foot soldiers stationed at places for longer periods of time than for it to be possible with human soldiers. That's one seemingly technological use of the mullosks, and they prolly also applied another use of them to be used as a key to a locking mechanism for this specific door.
It might've been the magic inside to make Kensuke to instinctively react to reach the door, but it could also be possibly be pheremones to attract them; perhaps maybe a combo of both. We have seen the kingdom was pretty innovative back then and still doing it to this day, they use monsters for farming and in turn they farm plenty of food (some of monster food like dyads) to reward them (altho it should be noted the ghost people no longer have to eat food). And within the castle they use deadly mechanical traps and made use of a huge olive tree garden to make hot oil traps. You can judge how prosperous a kingdom or city is by technology and they have (still to this day) the innovations to prove it. Its kind of like if Ancient Rome still exist to this day with their impressive sciences (altho their social structure would be remissed). Thanks for listening to my lil Ted-Talk 😅🤔

  • @dracenines

worth mentioning that one of the manga-only bonus comics about monster facts reveals that trolls aren't a real monster in the setting. troll is an old-fashioned half-foot language word for tall-man. in ancient history before the various races of the setting really interacted at all, half-foots thought tall-men were some kind of giant fucked up monsters. the belief faded over time when they realized "oh these are just regular people like us" but trolls as monsters are still used as a boogeyman to get half-foot kids to behave. (we see brief flashes of Chilchuck telling his kids to go to sleep or a troll will get them, to obey their parents or a troll will get them, and the reason their snacks have mysteriously gone missing is probably because a troll ate them all. definitely wasn't him, no sir.)

2:50 dwarven trope is they are super traditionalist and want to maintain those views. This includes making sure the next generation survives to pass on those teachings even if means sacrificing their own lives.
Dwarves inherent fear is their culture will go extinct which urges them to make grand structures, be paranoid who fo meet and teach non dwarves, get super defensive or assumed ppl will go after them (hence warhammer fantasy meme “it’s going in the $&@?ing book!” Which is book of grudges they have.), but become open is willing to learn their culture and history, share inventions and of course join for festivities.

Changelings in dungeon meshi are a species of mushrooms closely related to oyster mushrooms that form mushroom rings, while edible their spores are pathogenic meaning they cause illness in the form of high fevers and of course transmutation. Changelings form mushrooms rings which function like magic circles being able to transmute objects that step or is placed inside of them into other similarly related things, being able to completely change the physical characteristics of organisms and certain object such as food items into other similar things. Humanoids in dungeon meshi are all closely related to one another differing in only a few aspects such as lifespan, magic affinity, size etc. but these minute differences are enough for the Changelings to transmute one race into the other. the changelings transmute potential hosts as a way of getting the host's species to chastise and abandon them which often ends up leading to the host dying alone or even being killed by their own species, or they eventually succumb to the pathogenic spores, this allows the mushrooms to proliferate and form new mushroom rings elsewhere. The cure for transmutation is ridiculously simple though it takes time, all one would need to do is to thoroughly clean off any spores that remain on your body, you can also make a potion from the mushroom gills but that requires other ingredients. According to side information, Old folk remedies for changelings practically tortured the poor children affected by them until they realized all they needed was a thorough bath. Killing or even cooking the host or the spores does not revert the transmutation, this means changeling mushroom rings can be exploited to transmute things such as grains, you can convert barley into an equivalent ratio of rice since they are both closely related, be advised as to which ingredient you may want to transmute because they might turn into poisonous relatives.

And Dwarfs live around 250 years and age roughly 2.5x slower than humans, this means he is roughly 20 to 21 in human age. If not a bit younger.
