@kristopher Medlin Going through the top 100 songs by year(this one #28 of 88 for reference), I can say that popular music was great in the 80s, 70s, and the 2 or so decades before that. Of course the unpopular music was in many cases just as good. Todays popular music doesn't have that same goodness at all as @Mark Rooney pointed out. You of course may be right that the unpopular songs of today will be popular for future generations, but I believe that the late 20th century may still be more popular even then.

In the 1980's I was living in Hawaii; about as far west as you can get and still be in America, lol...picture 14 Navy sailors, men and women, sharing an off-base 2bdrm apartment in Honolulu...one of whom had a police -scanner on the balcony, so we'd know if the partying got too loud. This song perfectly described the atmosphere AND the wild-haired, gorgeous local women from the neighborhood who'd stop by to 'hang out with the Haoles' and drink incredible amounts of Hana Bay rum, and so became our favorite tune to blast from the living room stereo-system, lol...I still have my originally-purchased-cassette-tape of this album. Good stuff....
The lyrics remind me of how I looked forward to the '70s, the '80s, and the '90s, wondering each time what interesting or amazing things were going to happen in the coming decade. 2000, not so much. 2010 onwards, who cared?
This song made The Escape Club the only British band to have a Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 single, and never chart at all in their homeland. How ironic!

Que buena década , gracias a dios la viví , la cantidad de temas y grupos que habían era impresionante . Las radios explotaban ...
Loved it in the 80's still loving it in 2023
Anybody else think this kind of has the spirit of Elvis Costello's "Pump it up"?
The lyrics remind me of how I looked forward to the '70s, the '80s, and the '90s, wondering each time what interesting or amazing things were going to happen in the coming decade. 2000, not so much. 2010 onwards, who cared?
i'm turning 52 in april , remember listening to this on new years of 2000
another `oldie' I will be 57 this May, good beat to this song
Play this at work. Love it I’m 50
LOVE THIS SONG
Back when "Living in the 90's" had a futuristic sound to it
I am astonished for this song being so underrated.
I like this song a lot!
It stuck in my head 🤯!
Haven't heard this in forever and it was just playing in the Dollar General, I was dancing down the aisles!
Such a fun song! I've always loved it 🎶🎵💖
I loved this song. On my list of one of the best songs from the 80;s. Thanks!
I was in beauty school when this came out. Love that wild, wild hair
Man, I remember seeing this video all the time when I was little.
Fun song. Always liked this one.
This song made The Escape Club the only British band to have a Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 single, and never chart at all in their homeland. How ironic!
I believe the video was banned in the UK.
+Brian Ballou Did the song get UK airplay?
Why? The floating arms and legs too creepy? :)
no Wild West in the UK, most Brits can't relate.
They were getting more into electronic dance music by the late 80s. I don't think this song fit with the popular music style of the UK in that era.
i love listening to this when i'm bored. it always puts me in a good mood ^_^
No song had me thinking about the upcoming decade of the 1990's like this song.
can I head back to the 90s but still keep CZcams with all my favorite songs
I really liked this song when it came out; used to listen to it on KITS "Kiss-FM" outta SF.... And damn, that was almost 30 freaking years ago.
I move to the San Francisco (peninsula) in 1990.
