I somehow missed this guy back in the early 80s when Dan Fogelberg, Kenny Loggins, and David Pack were dominating the airways. I would've loved to have heard more of him then but at least I can hear him now.
And Michael McDonald, David Pack, James Ingram and Patti Austin. He had a stellar voice. But he, always a devout Christian, and knowing the coarsening decending direction of protocols and trends in the general music business going into the 90s and beyond, had shifted his music style away from commercial soft rock/West Coast/pre-smooth jazz to gospel-light and then full gospel as he devoted more time to his family his business (he owns/owned a gardening/ landscaping busisness ) and his ministry. There are some of his gospel stuff here on Yt. His voice has considerably aged but his distinctiveness is still there.

He stayed behind, he humbly stated in an interview that had an opportunity to join the big leagues, but chose a different path. He said he kinda regretted his decision that changed his path, but also said he is very happy and lives a good life guided by Jesus Christ his Savior.
Yeah that could be the interview I saw too in which Eric said that his career could have went a lot further if he had relocated to LA but he declined and decided to stay in Texas. I agree with the comments on here; Eric was a criminally underrated singer!

Eric's style of singing is deceitfully smooth I've had to go back and include at lot of his music into my listening catalog,he's really good.
