I finally had a chance to edit and release the long awaited model kit junkyard that I bought off of a fellow auction goer at one of the last Public Storage auction runs before they went online. Sad to say that I would have missed out on this deal if that locker would have sold today.

damn I'm jelly. I've been slowly collecting old broken model kits and airbrushing them over the last few years to look dirty and rusty for an actual model junkyard diorama I plan on building
That's a skill i hope to develop. I have a '64 Impala kit I want to build up as a Cheech & Chong car. Gotta be able to get the primer pattern right. :-)
I enjoyed the video thanks for sharing it. Quite cool junkyard indeed. I saw several models that can be rebuilt. Sometimes rebuilding and old unique model and making it looks pristine again is very rewarding.
Brought back a lot of memories. I have not built a model in over 20 years. I always loved it growing up. Thought about getting back into it. Watching this video gave me that old felling back! I loved when people use to give me old kits we're they said they out grew theme. Really miss those days.
I know how you feel. I've spent the last year building a restoration studio in my house to restore old toys and right now I just want to use it to build model kits. 😊👍

Pretty good score. There's a few gems in there. 73/74 Charger station wagon, 57 T-Bird, 75 Dodge Monaco police 2 door and a few others.

Very cool stuff! I love the glue bombs that are painted and built crappy and falling apart, they just have a lot of character. I used to build models and go to shows with my stuff. Won a lot of plaques. I now customize Hot Wheels cars but I do have the AMT Surf Shark '59 Cadillac ambulance, AMT '64 Ford Galaxie and an older Monogram '57 Chevy that I still need to build this winter. Last winter I built the AMT '59 Imperial and I built it to look like a kid built it back in the '60's. I would have loved to buy some of these if I were able to. Nice video, thanks for sharing!

Somebody put a lot heart into building those models, even tho they probably would not have make the covers of any magazines.

Fantastic collection. Sounds like thay brought back a lot of good memories for you. Being in Australia we did not have about 98% of those actual on the road cars out here. Mustangs, Transams, Comaros and a lot more muscle cars. As to models I remember my cousins having a lot of them. Have fun matching the parts.

Buying storage units it's not uncommon to find a model or two. This many models in one place is pretty rare.

blue conv. was a AMT 51 chevy-other blue one with split grill 41 plymouth AMT-Blue AMT 69 chevelle-red AMT 49 Merc.-car with straight 6 AMT 51 chevy-Yellow AMT 64 Impala-i use mineral spirits to dab on and loosen glue
The yellow Impala is the only one I still have. Going to try to restore it someday. :-)

I kept a collection like this for many years, fighting the objections of my wife. It felt good after the divorce to tell her I was able to sell it in pieces for good money.

Cool cars you got there! But Before you restore them or sell them. You should line them up like an old junk yard like you did in you preview and take pictures. It looked realistic. You can sell the pictures put them on shirts or even movies might want them. Just a thought I have.

The two-toned Ford was a '57 Fairlane. Yes, olive green one is a Model A Ford. Quite a puzzle you bought!

I cleaned a few but then someone made an offer on the lot that I couldn't refuse. Only kept the yellow Impala.

Most of the burn marks were probably caused by super glue I have seen it first hand ! Certain types of plastic are vary brittle and super glue melts that type of plastic. Most model companies used brittle plastic but a few used flexible plastic which didn't react with super glue .
I guess it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to use super glue. They obviously couldn't paint either.

I sold all of these models in one day at the flea market over the summer. I think the only one I still have is the yellow Impala because it got left behind. 👍😊

I've never seen an 80's Suburban kit that was mass produced. There's one on eBay right now but it's a built resin and the guy wants over $200 for it. 👍😊

But my racing setup is a compound boosted (blower and twin turbos) 79 coupe deville and my compound boosted 85 C30 compound (twin gt3582's and twin gt45s yes 4 turbos) suburban tow rig which I'm building right now. Have to have a 1/25th set as well.

I can usually figure out what it is from the mid 50s and newer. Anything from the 40s and earlier I'm usually just guessing. 😊👍

How much are you going to want to for them? Or how much would you want for all the trucks?
I'll probably list them in lots on eBay and see what they go for. The two trucks will go in one auction and will probably sell for around $40.00 with all the extra parts I found. The big truck in the back row only seen in the thumbnail and end screen will be sold separately.

The rarest here is probably that two-door Dodge Monaco police car, the moulds were changed to turn it into the Dukes of Hazzard Rosco four-door cop car.
I didn't realize that's where they got the moulds for Rosco's car. Back then I suppose they weren't thinking about the re-issues they were going to do later. 😊👍

I found a '65 mustang nomad - complete except for the hood. Where might I find one?
I've never seen a Mustang Nomad, but if it looks anything like a standard Mustang you should be able to find one listed for parts or restoration on eBay and take the hood. It just needs to be the same scale and it should at least be close enough to work with. Good luck!! 😊👍

This is pretty typical of old models. They sit on a shelf for decades and then they're thrown in a box without protection and hauled away. That's if they're not thrown in the trash by someone that doesn't know what they're worth. 😊👍

By the way, my first car was a Galaxie 500, and not only do I know the differences between the years, but I know the difference between the Custom 500, the Galaxie 500, and the LTD for most years. In fact, I'm pretty sure there used to be a "Custom" and a "Galaxie" without to 500 but I was never sure if the 500 was just removed. Maybe that's where you can educate me.
