    Keep in mind, for BAD aim (not inconsistent), aim training through 1. Ranked, 2. Custom games like Tryhard FFA, Aim Arena, and VAXTA, as well as checking your sens through helpful videos like this (czcams.com/video/GppILMVaNVE/video.html) is crucial!

      @@blackpope8834 But you're not everyone. Most people aren't asking for larger health pools or larger bullet sizes... Most people want less damage spiking and less intense healing. The leaked patch notes are being negatively received by many because they do not target the issues that most people in the community have with the game.

    The saying "you miss all the shots you dont take" is such a real thing in fps games. If you dont push yourself and at least TRY to go for that mercy GAing or try to hit that genji after his dash, youll never get better. The more shots you try to fit in EVEN IF THEY MISS will help build your muscle memory. Just throw out some flicks and see what you can do.

    • @demifolk8940
      @demifolk8940 Před 6 měsíci

      i been doing this lately and its helped tremendously. i was awful at doom, could not his shots and was not confident at hitting my punches. now im starting to consistently hit mid GA mercys, jumping baps, etc. Not super consistent since its better to just wait for them to slow down, but needing to make those plays makes me more comfortable doing the safer plays

      @demifolk8940 I'm a doom main so everything you're saying is my exact experience 😂 for real tho sometimes you gotta do a 180 or 90 degree flick on doom to get just a little bit of extra damage with your gun.

    In my experience leaving team and enemy voice/text chat has helped immensly. I can't get tilted by other people flaming the team, I can't get flamed, I can't flame anyone. I can actually focus on the game and my own performance. That has made me way more consistent because it blocks out so much mentally draining stuff. People might not think it's a good idea to almost shut out any communication with the team, but I think it's worth it. This is something I started doing very recently, and it's been great with helping my consistency, and also just my enjoyment of the game. It's way more fun when you don't have people being constantly negative which is very prominent in gold/plat where I'm at

    • @demifolk8940
      @demifolk8940 Před 6 měsíci +2

      you really only need pings and voice lines for communication, especially at low to mid ranks. its especially important to just focus on yourself. unfortunately, you have to get a good mental in order to climb since you will eventually need to communicate. maybe not in voice chat but at least having team chat open

    • @mycelia_ow
      @mycelia_ow Před 6 měsíci +2

      I think it's far better to just no get tilted. You will also miss pings in text chat when you turn it off. You took the easy route, should instead build some mental fortiude. The rare instance someone is actually talking in my plat/diamond games, they aren't abrasive most of the time. If they aren't cordial, use mute + block. That's why these features exist. I don't see why keeping out the good players too would help your enjoyment of the game.

    • @simonjohnson3424
      @simonjohnson3424 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@mycelia_ow Blocking everything doesn't just prevent tilt, but also allows me to be more focused. To me it feels like it becomes a single player game where everyone might as well just be controlled by the CPU. There's 0 pressure on me and I feel that makes me way more consistent. I don't feel judged by bad plays because who's gonna call me out on it? I can take responsibility myself without people putting salt in the wound. That makes it easier to move on from mistakes without letting them get to me i.e. I stay foused. Not only has it proven to be a benefit to myself but also my team. They have a teammate that can more consistently have up time. I die less because I don't force plays. I'm more patient because I don't feel the same need to perform. So far, I've not seen or felt a single downside to this

    @cspi5001 Před 6 měsíci +12

    You've put into words a lot of what I've been thinking and doing. I play ranked when im in good physical and mental condition. I often meditate prior to playing and if I get tilted, I'll take a break, meditate and try and process my errors and try and be better next time. I've noticed the best players still mess up on their tech (leading to deaths/losses,) so it helps me to be more forgiving of myself. I have started to notice some of the things you've talked about in my own experience. When I wake up with all day to play, I very become very fixated on performing well and start overthinking / focusing on my inconsistencies a lot compared when to waking up on a work day with an hour in the morning with the mentality of "i'm just gonna play a few round. before I leave". I feel like I play so much better because I don't focus on all my inconsistencies.

    I usually run into the issue where I start off really well. I win a few games in a row, I play better than everyone in the lobby, and eventually someone does or says something that throws me off, and I begin to spiral, tilt more and more, and then all of a sudden I'm 4-10 after rage queuing and I can no longer think about the actual game, just about how much I hate myself, my teammates, and the enemy.

    Watched this, and realized the correlation between days where I don't give a shit and having good aim. I had wondered why my best aim days were while playing drunk? (not even joking) Been playing two hours since then and I definitely have noticed a huge difference. I went from being too scared to lock widow in quick play, to now doing so and winning as well.
    As some context, I'm a gm3 peak quick play warrior and I mostly play flex dps (genji, junkrat, mei etc.) Therefore my qp games are usually gm as well adding to the insane amount of pressure I put on myself to begin with. I definitely have a massive thing with missing easy shots, and immediately starting to massively overthink every shot, which eventually lead to tilt.
    For once I actually feel like I walked away from a coaching video feeling like I learnt something so significant, that I feel like I can also apply to other aspects of my life. Thanks coach.

    I'm doing many of these and it's really working. It's funny when you stop caring, suddenly you do a lot better. I've climbed up more than a full rank just by caring a bit less.
    An unexpected consistency maker for me is warming up by playing a couple games of Rocket League first. I have no RL mechanics at all and I'm at a very low rank in it, but it's a fast game and I like to play it with patience, so it gets my fast play and thoughtful play into a nice balanced state before entering OW.

    Oddly, a handful of times I have felt most comfortable mechanically (looking back at it) was when I was sort of on low sleep. Not that this is a good thing, but I think my brain operating on a lower power level helped, in these specific scenarios, quiet all the other "distractions" you mention that shift my focus away from just playing the game. I remember thinking exactly the next day like huh, maybe playing a tiny bit "brain dead" in a sense is more comfortable. Hope to develop this more when I am more awake and healthier. I'm sure stuff like good exercise and meditation would be great outlets for quieting the mind.

    Michael Jordan once had a saying that went something along the lines of, "I didn't get good at shooting because I made a large number of shots in practice, I did so because I MISSED an even larger number of shots and lost before."
    Even pros, whether in a video game or in a physical sport, will not be able to pull off certain mechanical tasks - not because they're bad or inept, but because the task itself can be inherently difficult. And when you wish to compete and improve, you are going to have to take increasingly more difficult shots to push those limits - and you will miss.
    Lucas Botkins of T. Rex Arms - An extremely skilled firearms shooter - has also mentioned that if he's landing all his shots within the Center "A" Zone and none land in the Outer "C" Zone of his targets, he's only taking shots at a slow pace or short distance that make the shots too easy, and thus he isn't training correctly because he's not pushing any limits, which is what you need to do to improve.
    In short, you NEED to miss. To not miss a single shot at all would be to only take the easy ones, which gives no value.

    As a lucio player I have insanely good aim and movement and people always tell me, a lot of the time I’m told I should start streaming, but whenever my daily routine is disrupted or I force myself to play when I’m tired or not fully focused or “ready” to, I play very inconsistently and start playing really passive even though I have a hyper aggressive play style, it makes me feel like I’m doing poor performance wise even though I’m not actually doing that bad, I just know I can do WAY WAY WAY better, I end up tilting easier and playing worse as the day goes on, I can’t stress this enough that having a healthy life outside of gaming can be a huge benefit to when you do play games

    thanks, this is super helpful. yesterday, played dps and could not get comfortable playing my mains. i was missing so much, kept tilting. didn’t even tilt queue tbh, only played 3 games but i played so bad in all of them. im high plat, maybe like plat 1 or 2? play on console, but people hit their shit on console way more than pc players think.
    but yea that shit made me so upset at how bad i was playing, then it hit me that i was playing fucking DOOM non-stop this past week and barely had warmup on my hitscan dps. I play ashe a lot and i realized i have barely touched her. gonna get used to her again and get my comp games in before the comp reset. her and genji are my comfort picks but playing genji is fucking miserable in plat
    edit: also wanna add more point, i think “panic shooting” is another point. sometimes people choke when an enemy is low and they start panic shooting instead of slowing down and carefully lining up their shot.

    Been playing since release of OW1 and until like half a year ago I used to have a warmup routine for practice range. I actually got really upset when they made the firing range and changed the bots timings. Anyway... I did this every single time before Id play a game. Widow (flicks, air shots, crits), Cass (flicks, crits), Ashe (flicks, crits, dynamite shooting, aiming during coach gun animation), Ana (scoped/unscoped, sleeps), Mercy (before rework GA tech), Tracer (one clipping, ult blink stick), Genji (dash melee, resets, aim), Hanzo (flicks) and Ball (wall jumps). I got pretty good aim and it looks even funnier because my sens is at 61 with 1k dpi. So some friends compare this to an aimbot and regularly enemies when they see the kill cam ask if everythings fine or accuse me of hacking because it just looks so snappy. But yeah that daily routine made my aim pretty good and I play pretty much all heroes. I just dont recommend players to start with a routine like that. Focusing on fewer heroes might be a good idea
