  • During the webinar 'Architecture shapes performance - Digital Innovation' organized by Bouwen met Staal, Anurag Bhattacharya, architect at ZJA, highlights the value of parametric design workflows and cross-disciplinary collaborations in the Freedom Museum in Groesbeek and Shaded Dome. Here, ZJA joined forces with Royal HaskoningDHV and Poly-Ned to achieve integration of engineering expertise leading to file-to-factory manufacturing capabilities.
The AEC industry is in a state of flux fuelled by transformative shifts in technology and design. New digital capacities are restructuring the organization and hierarchy of design from autonomous processes to collective workflows. Architectural design has become a complex workflow in which geometric, spatial, and technical information is filtered through simulation, analysis, and optimization processes, with the aim to form integrated building information models that can generate an array of output ranging from energy usage to manufacturing instructions.
In each episode of the webinar series, Bouwen met Staal delves deeper into the state-of-the-art of the latest design techniques together with one or more guest speakers from companies in the Dutch construction industry. To what extent is automation applied in the current design and engineering process? And how do new design techniques contribute to the successful progress and result of a construction project? These questions are central to every 'Digital innovation' webinar.
