A PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist survey released last week found voters split on the democracy threat question. Overall, 46% said a Biden second term would “weaken” democracy, while 48% said the same about Trump returning to the White House."

Polls have been accurate all along, but the margin of error exceeded the narrow voting margin and they didn't focus on the electoral college only the general population, and they didn't count new/unlikely voters because they didn't used to turn out in these numbers.
It's so close now especially with the electoral college that a poll can't really be much more accurate than a coin flip.

That being said, Biden is historically unpopular incumbent, and I have never seen DNC just cancel the primaries like it did this time.

The only reason to watch cable news is to see what positions the parties and the corporations are taking on a subject, not for actual information on that subject.

I used to be someone who got mad at undecided and single issue voters. I also got mad at non voters. However, when we are presented with TWO choices and vote for one or the other, we encourage bad policies.

It doesn’t seem useful info unless we know how they got the info specifically. Is an “independent” a collection of every voter who describes themselves ad something other than Dem/Repub or is it a particular group of people self identifying specifically as independent? It seems like the difference isn’t trivial. If a person says they’re libertarian but basically always votes republican, for example, would this survey call them an independent?

I have been an Ind voter for 25 years. I simply don't put my trust in either side as I watched both sides be ruled by those who remember and enjoyed the days of "separate but equal". I found it to be asinine to put faith or trust in either group. Not much has changed in those 25 years. Sure a few more faces of color, but those faces have little influence. The proof is in the doling out of tax dollars pudding.
So, as a lot of black people have come to also do, my vote will ALWAYS be a pragmatic vote that benefits black people. Sometimes that vote is literally me holding my vomit back to vote because that candidate will at least not try to put us back in chains. I haven't been enthusiastic about ANY of these candidates really in years.
I'm an independent in Pa... we can only vote in the General, so that makes the primary votes invalid in my opinion.
I'm here with you, and of course Republicans keep killing attempts to allow independents to vote in our primaries. But it really doesn't matter that much. As long as the corporate plutocrats are the only options, primaries are a formality, as are federal elections.

We should have moved on from both Biden and Trump and yet here we are again 😂. Both need to go away. We need fresh blood. We should change the law and only allow presidential candidates from ages 35 to 65 running for office. I fully understand senior citizens still can be an asset given their experience, knowledge and wisdom but they can play a role in other positions within the government's administration like cabinet members etc.

Because, they knew how to play the damn game better than anybody else. They made sure our allies, and our enemies, both respected and feared us equally; all while making sure our domestic policies reflected whatever the popular, and economically successful, majority of the country’s voters actually wanted. None of them gave U.S. Citizens everything that they wanted, but they sure knew how to give us dogs their bones + table scraps. What I’m getting at is, they shared the spoils of political warfare with their people. They did more than just take care of their donors and cronies while gaslighting everyone else.

The atmosphere feels more like 2016 than 2020. Trump is heading for a victory. People have lived under the two administrations, they prefer Trump. The economy, inflation, interest rates and the border were better under Trump, period.
