Great illustration video and great content Dami. I'd love to chat with you about the art of Architectural Photography one day. I bet it would be amazing context for your audience to learn about how important photography is to showcase an Architect's work.
Great videos! Clear and comprehensible without sacrificing comprehensiveness.
Not an architect, just a fairly new hobbyist for digital art. Having most of my drawing experience with paper, I found using a “paper-like” screen protector has been a game changer in my ability to be more precise with my initial sketches fwiw. Only downside is they eat up Apple Pencil tips much quicker than other screen protectors, but the benefits far outweigh the cost.
@@baer96 Yes I haven't had that happen yet on mine, but I've heard that's a common problem. I don't know what the workaround is 🥲
@@DamiLeeArch - There is no workaround for the tip-consumption w/"paper" screen protectors. Fortunately you can buy third-party tips fairly inexpensive in quantity on Amazon.
In my experience, after using an iPad Pro 12 for several years, I've moved off the paper screen protectors. Not because of the tip issues; rather, primarily due to slightly reduced sensitivity/accuracy. It's not a substantial amount but it's enough, particularly when I'm using conceptual massing tools.
Which generation its the ipad??? Its the "Refurbished 11-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi 128GB - Space Gray (3rd Generation)" ???
How is this woman, an architect, which in itself is an extremely complex, demanding discipline... and still be able to produce content which really is of professional level quality.. truly amazing. She's a natural speaker, with incredible presentation skills... rare type of talent.. wow
I'm not an architect and I watch your videos just out of interest and your perspective but making your own templates and tools available to the public is super cool. Thank you.
No probs 😉
You helped sell me on getting an iPad. I’ve been on the fence about it but seeing how you applied it to work helped me see how beneficial it would be for me at work as well. It would honestly be a game changer. Thanks!
Update: I did get an iPad/apple pen and it is in fact game changing.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Welcome to the dark side 🙃
Same I’m kinda melting inside how much resistance I’ve had over the years… I guess it’s time.
anyone who uses appple products is actively helping human trafficking rings in china.
Which iPad did you get?
I use my ipad all the time, even for work, and I work in advertising. I get so curious how other people in different professions utilize the ipad i.e. doctors, lawyers, design artists, etc. and never really thought that it would be also useful for architects or engineers! This is awesome! I just saw this video on my page and I’m so happy I watched the whole thing. Loving the vibe! :)
Moved up to a pricier version for better screen resolution and processor czcams.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA , but battery drains faster, and not having a button for control of apps turns out to be a problem. Touch ID is harder to use than with the old button on the front. Can't really see the better screen resolution or see increase in speed, etc with better processor
This is so informative! I am an architect in the Philippines and have my iPad as well but only used for watching movies and document editing.I never thought this could be very helpful to our profession! More videos to come! I enjoyed it a lot 🥰
I've been contemplating on whether or not I should get one for work knowing I go on site visits every now and then. But seeing that I won't need to carry a thick stack of drawings on one hand and my phone on the other absolutely justified my decision. Thank you for this! 😁
My pleasure! Yeah I honestly hate carrying stuff and am always trying to reduce, so having to only carry around an iPad for most of my needs has been a breath of fresh air
I'm a network engineer by trade, but I love listening/watching these videos. Every once in a while, I need to submit propose floor plans for equipment like routers, access points, etc. Typically my job will be to physically be on site to map the locations, to then have the architects or whoever implement them into the proposed floor plans. After submitting mine, they usually send a response to the effect of "uhhh, these plans look completed, we don't know who did these. we don't have to touch them, they are good to go".
I have my iPad to thank for that. Great video!
Hahah that’s a great response. It’s not every day you get surprise good drawings ☺️
I was wondering how I can make the most of my iPad to have a creative outlet. This video really inspired me to try out the things you mentioned! 😍
As a practicing architect and a fan of hand drawing I have never been able to find the correct work flow process for me while considering time, quality, order etc until now. I can now see how an ipad is a GAME CHANGER for my career and am excited to go all out! Special thank you to your videos, your content and your advice I can finally take that step for my future. I also appreciate the available templates as well 😅
I really inspired by your Videos. I am a Filipino architect and I think i need to upgrade all my tools now.. Someday i can have an ipad in right time.
Thanks for sharing most awaited video 🤓
Thank you for all the tips you gave us in this video. I study product design and I use so much my Ipad, especially when I need to create moodboards or sketches.
Yo, I'm loving the floofy hair; it looks amazing! 💅 Thank you for the templates! Another reason you can feel confident on site is the fact that you simply have the iPad. Having tools on you says: "I'm here to get stuff done!"
Super duper ultra mega game changer, thank god for technology!!! I'm in interior design and I've been using this technique for almost a year now. One thing I hated the most when using pen and paper was the effort of erasing and sketching it all over again.
You're just amazingg, as an architect I can understand how much iPad has changed my life... will definitely use your brushes and paper sets 💕 you're amazing , Loveyou ❤
I came by your channel by accident and I immediately loved your voice. It's therapeutic. And then there are your topics...what a combo.
Dani!! Thank you so much for this video! I just got my first iPad a month ago and I have been trying to figure out how to use it for architecture. I really appreciate this video!💙
My pleasure 😇
In Procreate, Turn on “drawing assist” on the layer option when you have perspective grid on so you don’t have to draw a line and hold for straight line ;) Love your videos and I’m also Korean, a Architecture student studying in the US. Good to know you on CZcams!
Ive just stumbled on your channel from a random monitor review on my front page. Now i am going down the rabbit hole of your art/architecture and design videos. You're incredible ,and im hoping you stay motivated and keep putting out this dope sh*t.
I just found her I’m so excited!
I love this video! I love how you talk about different topics and really convince anyone to make more use of their iPad. You keep producing dope sh*t. Keep it up.
Hi, Demi!
I’m a structural engineer from México.
I really liked your video, your personality and the length. Congrats! I just subscribed a minute ago.
It’s insteresting to see we all project designers share some common challenges in the industry, like time!
It happens to me all the time: it was for yesterday! You are already late and didn’t know about it 😂
Me and my boyfriend have our own structural engineering company and we are moving to Montreal to open our first branch in CANADA! I’ll keep watching your videos and hope we can meet some day.
This was so helpful thank you! I would love a tutorial on how you use procreate for your sketches. All the editing and brushes etc!
I’ve been watching almost all your videos, I’m still in my early years of high school (sophomore year) but I’m trying to get a sense of what I wanna do in college, and architecture has always been up there! You’re videos are extremely helpful because they give me a perspective about being an architect that is literally impossible to find online. Anyways thank you! (Btw I’m still stuck between architecture and industrial engineering)
Sameeeeee im also stuck between those two
Same it’s been my dream since elementary
As a 25 years old as of now in his laster semester before I need to write my master thesis I just can say: Try it out ! If it is possible/affordable for you to try out these types of work do it. If this is what you really like than let nothing stop you from going that way. And if you find out midway, that it is not what you want to do in the long run then this is also an important lesson and you can try something else. Just now that sometimes there are hard days everywhere. I wish you all the best on your way and that you will be happy with whatever route you might take.
Many architects in the past also made and produced commercially available furniture and other items...choose architecture if I were u, because it's more design driven, industrial engineering is a more manufacturing-driven field
@@PTSG77-yy8lk Yes! Surprisingly even 8 months later and it’s still me trying to decide between the two! Haha anyways thanks for your input, it’s always helpful having comments like them!
Very cool thanks for sharing your workflow with us!
The best elaborated explanation so far. Thank you very much 👍
Thanks Dami for this priceless information. I am currently planning to buy the ipad to help me in my workflow in architecture. What a gem!
Aside from using the iPad stand-alone by sketching or having out at a job-site, I keep it next to my computers (iMac 27" and M1 Max 16" MBPro). I'll be doing ArchiCAD on my iMac, Twinmotion on my laptop (the M1 Max Chip rules at this), and I'll use my iPad for ALL other apps so I don't have to switch out of the programs to do emails, or texting, Notion, or PDF review, etc., etc., (and of course, managing my music playlists as I work). I use the iPad natively, and "not" as an extended display. The thing that brings it all together is "Universal Control" which enables me to use a single keyboard, trackpad and mouse across all three devices. It's amazing how well it works!
When out at job sites, I actually save CAD plans/elevations out to high-res JPGs and use the Autodesk Sketchbook app for marking up, dimensioning, etc., while on-site. I found doing these tasks in a raster-based mode is much easier than marking up a PDF with vector annotation tools. It's basically like Photoshop or Procreate on the iPad as well.
Keep up the great channel!
I'm first year in architecture but i learn lot of things your video and i really enjoy, thank you for giving us Valuevable knowledge..
Hi Dami! Thank you for this introduction to your workflow. It’s very helpful! Wishing you a good luck in your work and energy for new videos ;)
Love my iPad pro! Aside from the usual drawing/photo editing work flow, it also got me exploring 3d sculpting. Touch controls *just* made sense. Also, hair ✨amazing✨
Thank you 😊🙌
Is the pro a lot better you think? Wonder what’s the differences.
I just recently bought a iPad pro and I am pretty new at designing on it. I am planning on designing a Environmentally Friendly Animal Shelter and this video is extremely helpful I will definitely be watching your other videos.🙂
Thank you so much for the links and I’d like to see more videos like this🙏❤️❤️
I have been using Ipad since 2018 and it has changed my work ( design process, reviews and more)
I also use Procreate, Notability and acrobat alot
and i will definitely buy those Procreate brush set ! Thanks for a great video : ))
My pleasure 😊
Your video helps me motivate myself for architect im just studying 12th but still I'm fixed i wanna choose architecture and ur videos helps me a lot to make my decision ❤️💜
Ipad for certain workflows is a game changer.. imo.. very understated too..
If this would have been available during my college days, life would have been so different... I recognize all the struggles though (and the miles of tracing paper!) 😉 Awesome solution to use your Ipad for this instead! Thanks for this upgraded journey back in time. ✌️
Lovely drawings and great ideas! Super helpful ❤❤❤ thanks
So helpful, thank you! Really liked the site visit stuff you showed
I'm currently in school for Architecture. Thank you for the advice
You are just fantastic! Thank you for sharing lots of tips and tools.
I am Civil Engineer, and thinking about getting iPad for the exact reasons as yours. Thank you!
Your content is so flawless, I really don't understand how you haven't achived 1M yet. Please, keep the hard work. I love architecture and your approach amazes me!
Not an Architect but a designer and yes even owning the cheapest iPad actually saves our work tons of time especially the iteration/conceptual process.
I had to buy an iPad during my 3rd year in archi, it been a game changer
Big documentation flexibility. Great video Arch.Demi. useful, helpful, convincing.
AAAAA I NEEDED THIS!! tysm dami :')))
Omg, thank you so much for posting this video!
Such a great video!!!
Practical and useful even if iPad is not the preferred tool. Loved it. Thanks so much for this.
My pleasure 😇
Thank you for telling us the best app used
Thank you so much for spending time to making these incredibly useful videos! If I may ask, what app are you using to mark-up the pdfs on your iPad?
Perhaps because you say you're a "new architect," you don't realize what rock-solid good advice you're giving to be "well-prepared" when visiting a jobsite. Lot's of "seasoned" architects could also benefit from such a work ethic, I assure you. Keep up the good work.
I very much appreciate your perspective on the move to iPad. I've spent *countless* hours in the field with a tape measure, camera and clipboard and I'm just beginning this transition with high hopes.
좋은정보 감사합니다 현장 벽지에 드로잉 했었는데 패드를 잘쓰면 큰도움이 되겠네요
Thank you for the video. It was very useful, I'm starting to use the Ipad and I was a bit lost✌
Very interesting to see an example professional iPad workflow. I know zilch about architecture so double that
Thank you for the video ✨
iPad it’s amazing for architecture! I use Morpholio Trace instead Procreate: I don’t have great artistic skill and with this app I can done my work; in my BIM workflow BIMx it’s game changer like Apple Pencil for iPad! 👍🏻🙌🏻
You described pretty well my struggles when I'm on site. Other reason I don't like bringing too many papers is that I don't really like printing or like wasting too many papers with all the revisions and stuff :( Wish I can afford to buy one. Great video! New subscriber here :)
Contemplating getting an ipad for architecture and this video pretty much decides it. 💸💸
Amazing!
Thank you for your sharing
Really enjoy your video sharing, great tips , thank you
Thanks a lot for the video and the ideas.
How to make yellow paper in the procreate app? Looks so good
I am currently in high school
I would like to study architecture but their are many things that throws me off about it . But I always come back to it since I enjoy doing the drawing and sketching of it
Eventually down the line I will like to also study building engineering
I will be finishing high school at a younger age than usual
So am still quit young and confused 😕 about curtain things
But thx much for your videos they have helped me clear up some stuff
Excelente video, gracias por compartir tu trabajo, tienes un nuevo seguidor, saludos desde México
Very well presented!
this is helpful and useful as well. thanks
So organized, love you...
Really great video, got an iPad because I new it be perfect for my studies but I'm still not using it to it's full potential. More videos about this would be great!!!!!!
This is a really useful video thanks
As an old school architect, its superb for work flow and colabs worldwide but old school sketches are still the best and beautiful on tracing paper, using china ink pen. Free hand sketches like Oscar Niemeyer, Siza Vieira, or late Barry Berkus which has good sketches tutorials on youtube are the way to go. When you are drawing, your brain feels more the process and the space awareness than digital and templates.
Its like using real buildings models than Renders 3ds.
Love the drawn little people.
I'm not even an architect I'm just trying to see if I want an iPad Pro but I ended up watching the entire video. Great work!
Love the video and thanks for giving us tips❤️Also Which iPad do you recommend?
i am an interior archi student and no one of our professors explain to us how the job work and how to work efficiently. I just bought an ipad because I knew it was easier than paper etc and i need it because i am really slow, I love trying and trying, I have always too much ideas, but i was lost with it ! Thank you a lot for your explanations !
Hello sorry would you mind sharing which iPad pro you got and how much space does it have ?
it's very useful! thanks
I can't explain why my heart is pounding uncontrollably.
I’m a former autocad operator back then, procreate is way too easy than autocad but I’m still on process on how to use it. Thanks for sharing and giving us some suggestions!
Looks handy!
usefull information, thanks
Im intrested on all the apps you use thank you so much I love your videos god bless
thanks what i was looking for
This is a great video. I’m still trying to make the most of my iPad at work. I want to know more about how you use ClickUp and how you manage the project design phases. Trying to manage 4 or more projects at once and deadlines and managing others is a pain point for me.
Hi Dami, Loving the videos. I wondered have you tried Morpholio trace? I like your templates for Procreate, do you have imperial ones?
Thank you and keep making those great videos.
I’m architech and i loved your video
This was a wow video, thank´s a lot
THANK YOU FOR THE TENPLATES XX
Interesting video! I’m a boat builder who specializes in interiors. I still work exclusively on grid paper and on the board. I know I need to enter the 21st century, most of my drawings are for joinery and hardware. I would love your recommendation on a single program for the tablet. Thx for the vids and keep up the good work!
I'm an older architect from abroad who works as a senior architectural technologist in Calgary. To discover your channel was like opening a window to a beautiful and sunny landscape, receiving a strong current of fresh air. I love it. A technical question, do you know if we can use the same apps having the same result with a Samsung Tablet? Cheers.
Brilliant rhetoric and faultlessly regular verse 😊
i had a dream as a kid to be an architect, i was always bad at maths, and told i could never be an architect by my school and college, so i went down the artistic route, i use a lot of the same processes for designing of products, and now after seeing this great video, its making me want to pursue architecture, i have sketchbooks filled with buildings ive imagined over 20 years, maybe i can actually see them built who knows. thanks Dami Lee :)
You dont necessarily have to be good with maths, but you need to know some basic math at least anyway, it will depend on the focus of the architecture school you choose, go for it!
Matematiğe ihtiyacınız yok tasarımı sevin yeterli.
I got an iPad to help study and organize my notes for the ARE and have also used it to sketch over plans, since we mostly do interiors. I found that it’s a helpful tool for myself to get ideas down faster than on trace paper. I still find it hard to sketch details and other dwgs of that type on the iPad as opposed to a physical sketchbook and I think it’s due to the constraints of a physical page as opposed to a digital pg you can manipulate. Hope to get better at that
This is really helpful for me because I keep trying but the areas of lack, I never stick with it. Been waiting for it to get better..
I'm not architect but I love your videos so much. Interesting enough I bought a big android tablet couple days ago to do sketches either for my woodworking ideas or 3D stuff for my 3D printers. Its better than paper just for iterations and also cloud save to have it backed up just in case oh and transferred to my pc for future work.
What kind of apps do you use?
@@DamiLeeArch 🤣I think CZcams is broken again, I have replied to this twice and I think it gets filtered out. in summary I'm using sketchbook.
i don't watch ur videos, not an architect, subscribed and will watch hopefully regularly. Nice Video, thanks
Thank you dami =)
"...but usually the needed that information like... yesterday!" ahhh yeah, the beautiful construction business. Always on the run... feels like home!
ASAP everything 😃
hi, thanks for the video. it was very effective. ı am interior desgin student. I love watching your videos.
Thank you for sharing
I don't own an ipad or study anything related to architecture but this video was so helpful.
