    This is one of the best videos I have seen. Thanks a lot.
    Just a few thoughts:
    1. Drs are scared to treat because of the risk of litigation if something goes wrong, e.g. you are within normal range but have all the clinical symptoms, sorry.
    2. in some national health care systems, TRT would blow out their health budget and there are other public health issues that take priority, e.g. TRT for people who are symptomatic vs fighting malaria;
    3. most GPs or MDs don't know how to treat and a referral to an Endocrinologist is warranted, can't be bothered or can't afford it
    4. Pharmaceutical companies and Drs make more money from keeping you ill and just well enough to "function", e.g. here are some anti-depressants. There is emerging evidence that TRT can and does have a positive impact on men who pre-TRT had a diagnosed clinical depression and mood affective disorders, lack of drive, loss of libido, overall decline in health and wellbeing
    5. Keep TRT for the elite and wealthy who can afford it, you make more money that way as a clinician

    Literally asked my GP about it, they referred me to a urologist, and my insurance revoked it.
    So went to a local trt clinic and they basically told me everything this video said.
    Im 25. 7 months ago, i was 265lbs.
    Now im 208. My test went from 520 to 465.
    I started the other day. I hope this sets me on the road to feeling human again.

    I am 19 yr old with extreme social anxiety, lack of energy, never get morning wood, inability to gain muscle despite training hard and eating healthy and more. I tested my Testosterone and it came back at 330. Funny enough the lab I tested on had two ranges - (249-900) for 20-49 yrs old and (180-750) for 49 yrs +. So you can have a test level of 180 now and it's considered normal. The ranges are dropping by the day. My endo says my test is low but not dangerously low and my problems are from something else. He refuses to treat me. I am from Bulgaria btw

    Problem is not the Doctor 75% of the time. Health Insurance companies don't cover TRT if you are within the range. If a Doctor give you a prescription of Testosterone and you use your health insurance to get it , they will audit the Doctor' soon the DEA will get involved. That's the way our medical system works in USA. Doctors are scare to be Doctors. They have become umpa-lumpas of Insurace companies.

    • @Lowtnation
      @Lowtnation  Před 6 lety +3

      It is true that the DEA is monitoring testosterone clinics. This is why it's so important to have a super clean protocol that the clinicians diagnose and prescribe from. DEA audits of clinics that manage patients well are no different than Health Departments inspections of restaurants that run a tight ship and clean practices. And don't get me started on insurance companies lol...

But because I'm not 40-50 points lower the docs don't want to treat me even though I also have many of the symptoms. Pretty soon they will probably lower the normal range to 200. My free T was just over 9 on a range 8.7 to about 25. The doc took one look at it and was like oh look your normal. See. Move along stupid man. I was rushed out the door within a minute of reading my results while neglecting everything I mentioned. I'm sure other guys have had luck with female doctors but I'm never going to a female doctor again. They sat their laughing at my symptoms when they saw the results and mocking me. At 46 I had my Test level checked at a clinic. I went in to see them because I had all the symptoms for the most part except depression. Everything in life had just turned "vanilla." I just chalked it up tp middle age...but i was concerned....always tired...not real motivated...foggy mind....medium to low sex driver..weak erections etc My results came back at 445 which is normal (but I would say low normal). Free T was right at the line. I just knew something was wrong even though the numbers said I was pretty much normal. The doctor treated my symptoms...put me on a modest regiment of TRT, inlcuding tweaking my diet and.....life is so much better. It took about 6 months for me to get dialed in...correct dosage and protocol (for me that is 3x a week) but once that was figured out by trial and error...bam! My test levels are now around 800-900 every test.... but more important is my symptoms are gone... so much energy...and better over all health. I just feel great. My health and morale is worth the investment even if my insurance doesn't cover it. It's now been a year and half....no regrets at all. Just listen to the doctor and humble yourself if you need to make additional life style changes. TRT is a life style...not a magic pill.

    i have man boobs! my muscles are so poor ,i went to start lifting weights and i had to use 3 LB weights because lifting 5 pounds was too much for me!
    i have 2 herniated disc and 2 bulging disc as well -i feel like an old man!!! my hair looks dry and i have that horse shoe male pattern baldness.and my hair is half gray and half black
    but grows very slow! i have to shave it all down just to look a little bit normal.and i gained a lot of weight!
    so i went to my primary DR because i have seen videos on low T and how it can effect you and i told my DR that i think i might have low T .
    she does a blood check and after a week ,i get my results from my follow up appointment. i had her check everything she could check with my blood.
    it was 328 and she told me everything was ok!
    i told her what was wrong with me ,and i knew i was going to have tell her what was wrong so i made a list of what was wrong prior to going to her office-
    and she told me im fine! i told her 328 sounds very low -and she told me that im NOT a young man anymore and that this is my number and its ok!
    i told her about all my symptoms and she tells me "go out side ,get some fresh air and do some walking".
    i told her that i walk a mile when i go shopping at "stop and shop " almost every day -because its 10 blocks away from where i live -she just smiled and said "good" .
    and i was dismissed!
    so here i am ,im 53 - and i want a fuckin do over!
    all of those symptoms crept up on me from the age of 35 to the present and after reading and searching -i feel that it IS LOW T and im looking for ways to
    help me substitute my low testosterone.
    my question is this -what pills are safe ? how much do they cost ? and where do we get them???
    my primary DR is a slick woman -she's the type that sends you to referrals -other DR's instead of prescribing me herself.
    what type of DR deals with low T?
    im ok not being 18 anymore but ill be damned if im going to be a 80 or 90 year old man because of a lack of some pill that could have got at the pharmacy or
    online!
    where do all these trans woman get their testosterone to make them look like men ???

I am of the opinion you get what you pay for. Brandon and Low T Nation make it so easy for a patient to get started and maintain a TRT regimen. I will touch base in a few weeks if anyone is interested and give an update to my symptoms and my progression. I started at 311 and my energy levels and libido have been almost non existent. TRT monotherapy is not always the most appropriate treatment, though. For example, if a man with low-normal T is found to have a varicocele, there's a strong chance that the varicocele is what is impairing T production (it affects Leydig cell function). In this instance, TRT is nothing more than a bandaid: it merely alleviates low T symptoms, but does nothing to address the underlying issue (the varicocele). TRT does not help improve testicular function. Getting a varicocele treated will very likely improve endogenous T production. Also, TRT does not help improve male fertility parameters, while a varicocele embolisation or microsurgery most likely will help with sperm count and motility. In any case, taking TRT without concomitant HCG is asking for emasculating side effects of male fertility suppression (oligospermia or even azoospermia) and testicular atrophy and/or softening. Does any self-respecting man welcome these emasculating side effects? Never take TRT without concomitant low dose HCG to keep your testicles ticking-over. And, if you have varicocele, get it sorted. Also, be sure to keep track of your oestrodiol levels while on TRT, and take arimidex if required.

    • @Lowtnation
      @Lowtnation  Před 5 lety

      We totally agree with most of this. Varicoceles are fairly infrequent and many times (even though they definitely do sometimes) have nothing to do with a guy's testosterone level. I do disagree with the testicular function part and the fertility parameters. If a patient presents with very strong secondary parameters (very low LH and FSH) the TRT can make enormous improvements in both aspects. The HCG part is spot on as well managing E2 levels. THanks for the input!! Good stuff!

I know HCG is ideal, but it's out of my budget and my insurance doesn't cover it. I have been researching it a lot and see there are a lot of positive studies on Nolvadex, Arimidex and Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen is by far the most affordable, so I was wondering if there is any reason(s) that either Nolvadex or Arimidex would be a LOT better than Tamoxifen? And also, many journals of urology indicate patients taking AI's concurrently with TRT (i'm currently on test cypionate), while others discontinue the TRT before initiating AI therapy. I would really appreciate your input, as we really want to conceive and the clock is ticking. Thanks again!

    Hey serious question here. My testosterone came back at 442. I’m 37 years old, stopped working out a couple years ago after I broke my vertebrae. Libido is GREAT, never had an issue with that. However, I’m not as motivated as I was 10years ago. I’m tired A LOT with low energy. I also have 4 kids and run my own business des. Haven’t gotten back into the gym yet due to pains when lifting. I ordered test and have it sitting in my room. What do you guys suggest? Should I start working out, sauna, cold plunge, super human protocol style and then retest my levels to see if I still need to take it or is it about that time and age where I can supplement? I want to go the Huberman route and do .20 every 2 days.

      No, your LH level will not cause any symptoms. I would however like to know your free testosterone level. Even with a 700 total, some guys still have low T because their free T is low. I was diagnosed with around 800 testesterone. I had every symptom of low T. I saw an endocrinologist and he was terrible in every way. My estrogen was over 200 and still going up. I was getting migraines which I never had before. I ended up taking arimidex to bring it back down. Migraines went away. Endocrinologist said high estrogen is normal even though it was higher than women on menopause. I've been on TRT for 1.5 years and it's been life changing. Recently had bloodwork and was at a bit over 400. Age 39 and in above average physical shape for my age, but feel many of the symptoms I hear of being caused by low T. Feel fatigued often during the week at my desk job, but much better on weekends when I can be outdoors and physically active all day. I took Kratom the night before my bloodwork. Could that lower my test level? I know that it is confirmed that pharmaceutical opiates indeed do. Thanks.

    • @Lowtnation
      @Lowtnation  Před 5 lety +3

      There is actually decent clinical evidence that supports kratom has no affect on testosterone levels. Many guys who come in at the 400-ish range are very treatable. If you were a guy who was near 1000 in your prime, it means that you're running at 40% of optimal as far as testosterone in concerned.

    I was at 300 3 years ago. I dropped 40 pounds, got my vitamin D levels up to high optimal, eat mostly hormone free and organic, cut out all the sugar and junk, workout 3x a week and got myself to about 400. Explained to the doctor the prior week that I suffer from low energy and low sex drive (its there but borderline non existent). Their reply was to try and raise my levels naturally by working out and consider a vegan diet. I had already told them multiple times that I workout 3 days a week. Extremely dismissive only cared about a number that they even said themselves was low but normal on the paper. After 3 years of clean eating, working out, cutting out all the junk I had extremely minimal improvement. I have never had a doctor piss me off before as much as this. Dismissed what I told them I eat, dismissed that I told them I workout 3x a week with weights and 7x a week 30+ minutes of cardio (besides walking), dismissed that I had low energy levels and almost no sex drive because of a number on a paper that was still low by their standard. This is now the second doctor in 3 years that has dismissed me because I'm in the 300-400 range which is "normal". Just about at my wits end. The range for the labs by me are 260-916. Ludicrous. Doc wont even think about TRT unless I'm below 260 even with all the symptoms. I don't understand at all. So if your 250 the doc is happy to bring you up to 800+. But if your 300-400 your SOL. What kind of clown world do we live in.

All technically witin "their" range, but low nonetheless. I also had severe vitamin d deficiency at 10.2 ng/dl up until June 2018. After 50k IU once per week im at 83 ng/dl. I understand that vitamin d is a pre-harmone and low levels will adversely effect testosterone levels. Not sure if its related but seeing a neurologist in a few weeks for the numbness and ferling of constriction in left hand and chest. The speaker remarks about the fact that the reference range for free test is typically between 350-1200. "Almost four times" he says. Well the reference ranges are typically all standardized in terms of the standard deviations for the values. This means that the reference range for testosterone is really the same as it is for other things.
    For fun, imagine if the reference range for something started at zero, like 0-10. Then, using the speaker's logic, the upper limit would be infinity times the lower limit! What a wide range, lol!
