I really enjoyed this version with the younger dancers. There are versions when Clara is portrayed by dancers who are really too old for that role. I especially enjoyed Clara and the Prince who have so much confidence and stage presence. No, these are not seasoned dancers but they are learning and seem to enjoy this production. Bravo to them. Thank you.

Have you seen Vaganova academy production? They use even younger Clara (in Russian production it's "little Masha"). I like this one too. They (Vaganova) use younger students in the dance of the mirlitons as well.

Easily my favorite interpretation of this story. It may not be the most technically perfect as per Bolshoi.. but it has what none of the others have in abundance.. something called CHARM. Beautifully orchestrated too the charm emanates from all the principle characters and especially in the part of (Marie) Clara.

Very expressive Clara, graceful and lovely. I loved this refreshing choreography, beautifully danced and well adapted to the students, with a lot of mime which many ballet companies forego these days. Ballet is a language that includes mime and helps tell the story. I particularly liked there was none of the acrobatics many choreographers feels they have to include in classical ballet. Lovely décor too. The costumes were imaginative and a feast for the eyes. The children were full of charm. The soloists wonderful. The whole performance captured the innocence of a childhood in an era long gone. Congratulations!

I often get anxious when watching youth productions of a traditional ballet piece as they have not measured up to the high quality of a demands required to be considered worthy of the music. HOWEVER, this ballet was amazing! The young professionals across the board, with special mention of the primaries, breath taking both with such promise for their respective futures! The creative additions were noted but I will say they added to the story line, along with the set design that the smaller stage didn't detract from the great performances ( a few light problems but ...) Well done to all and compliments to the primary dancers! Fantastic and thank you!

Such charm and witt, with enormous gusto and joye de vivre, CHARM is oouzzing! Yes, Bolshoi or TRB is technically better, this warms me all the way through! I love how Clara and her Prince are so interactive with each-other, not about technical show off, or perfection in pas de deux, they have true connection! Charm and love 💕

I’m so glad I came across this version of Nutcracker to watch this Christmas Eve!! Others have commented on the many fine points of this production/performance, and I agree! I want to particularly praise the unique concept of this Nutcracker and how well carried out it is through the sets, props, costumes, characterizations, and original choreography. Drosselmeyer is a wonderfully clever interpretation, and the Gingerbread House is a brilliant re-vision of the Land of Sweets. A huge tip-of-the-hat to Sebastian Michanek for creating this delightful Christmas confection! 💚

This has probably been the prettiest, most realistic, most creative, most adorable Nutcracker Ballet Ive ever seen! EVERYTHING was brilliant! Costumes, stage design, set design, lighting... The acting was remarkable, so believable and relatable. Delightful cozy atmosphere in Act 1, felt all warm and fuzzy. Act 2 was insanely amusing! Cant help smiling and giggling. Waiting for the next dance was really like expecting another magic from the magician's hat! All the kids looked like they were genuinely happy and I found myself rooting and cheering for them especially the Pas de Deux. Every time the curtain closed, it gave me goosebumps ALL over my body! All the leads.. absolutely gorgeous faces and the character roles looked like movie superstars! But my favorite of all was that little Russian marshmallow fellow.. 🙂
I think this is one of the best Nutcracker Ballets created. Kudos to the teachers of this school. The choreographers must be the best that there is now.. Lovely beautiful GENIUS brains. Watching this made me so happy. Thanks for the experience. What a treat! :)

One of the most accurate representations of the original tale by Hoffmann ever! Not perfect, of course, a bit messy, but still very close, showing some aspects you'll never see in other versions. Some meaningful story at last, not another pointless 'christmas show'. And it's likely about as far as one can go exploring the (rather dark) meanings of the tale without scaring the public off. Thanks for sharing it!
Oh, and I really like how subtle some details are! They are there, and you can easily see them, if you know what to look for, yet they are so inconspicuous that most people won't even notice.

This is a particularly good performance. Drosselmeyer is great, Clara is lovely, and I like all the added details like Drosselmeyer's workshop, the gingerbread castle, the mice locking Clara in a cage, and the giant sweet props. Though, it's rather amusing that the Nutcracker is just a store-bought Nutcracker Christmas decoration. Clara and the Nutcracker Prince are about the right sort of age here too, they shouldn't be adults but they shouldn't be small children either. Around 12/13 is right.
I'm also pleased they included the Sugar Plum fairy, even if her main dance still went to an aged-up Clara. The last version I saw cut her out altogether to give her dance to Marie (as her name was in that version). I wasn't such a fan of replacing the Spanish Chocolate dance with a Liquorice Allsort dance and the Arabian Coffee dance with whatever the guys in black were supposed to be doing.
It's also good to see the bottoms of everybody's shoes are pretty clean. I've seen several ballets on here now where everyone's dancing in filthy black shoes which is distracting and seems unprofessional, surely new shoes must be available.

That's what I was thinking, that this version must be taking place around 1900 or so, based on the costumes? Bc the little girls have puffed sleeves and the women have those skirts/shirtwaists with the high necks that have a definite Green Gables vibe. It seems like a lot of versions set the action in the late 1700s powdered wig days, so I like the ones that change the era.

I liked having the cultural "dolls" dance after the Mouse King is dead. Sorry I missed seeing what hit him, though. I see something black on the stage. What did she throw at him?

Polkalgris, it's the swedish mint candie with white/red stripes, and that's the same candy the Flower Dance dresses are inspired by.

Посмотрите постановку Санкт- Петербургского театра, там тоже танцуют дети и девочки не такие кобылки , как здесь, но согласна этот балет должны танцевать дети, а не 50 летние балерины!
