Josh, I understand stand your point on not bringing your dog to an extent. However, I will say after training 4 completely finished duck dogs myself, a dog does not TRULY learn about hunting until they are repeatedly put into a hunting scenarios. After a few hunts, things seem to all come together and click. While she’s still learning and is young, you may have to take a bumper for slow hunts to keep her attentive when things get slow. After a few hunts though, things will come together for her. I’ve done both, as far as, solo hunts with a young dog, as well as, taking a dog on hunts while leaving the gun at home to work with the dog. Throwing her out there and letting her experience the hunt is the only thing that will make her “Ready” and know what’s going on. That’s just my opinion…everyone has one. You’re doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work! I enjoy your content!
High brass 2 3/4 fixed mine
Nice shooting
Dont worry about her "not being ready". It's fine, take your time, ignore these other guys. Only you know when you guys are ready. Keep it up. Oh wow, u guys can still hunt by 7pm? We can't hunt after about 5pm the latest.
She will never be ready if you don't get her out
You are 100% correct. I use to say the same shit about my puppy then once I took him he actually started to learn and get good!!
CGA the program Josh and I both use suggests that the first few hunts to leave your gun at home and focus only on handling / steadiness. Josh is doing the right thing since these have all been solo hunts. He has his own system to produce the Gundog that he wants let him be!
I agree to a point, I brought my pup when he was 8 months and he progressed very well throughout the season. However, I was barely shooting and just focused on him. Make the hunting fun, take a deep breath and realize this dog is still really young because they’re going to do some weird things out in the field. Josh usually hunts solo and it’s difficult to manage a dog, the equipment, shooting, and everything else.
@@austinmilan4001 what if he did drills somewhere maybe with a buddy where they could toss bumpers and shoot mid arc to simulate shooting a bird that way he can work on handling Korra outside the field so maybe he can bring her into it even if he is solo? That way that part is taken care of and he won’t have to worry about her breaking and such granted he may be doing all this off camera I’m training a dog myself so I’m just curious on what others think haha
@@FknCash yeah I was blessed enough to have land to do exactly what you just explained lol definitely got my dog ready. I also used a quick release from gun dog supply when I did solo hunt to drill in the steadiness. Every dog develops differently, I don’t really consider a dog Kora’s age to be too immature to hunt, but might not be at the level of training he feels should be needed. Hell, my dogs first retrieve he brought me back a decoy and then I had to send him again 😂 by the end of the season his marking ability improved substantially and it also showed in the hunt tests we ran.
I guess those teal were close and slow.. but I have hard time shooting in the SIT position! Good job.
A weatherby with issues? Who would’ve guessed!
I have the weatherby sa08 12 gauge and have never had an issue it has cycled every load I've ran through it, now have 2 of element 20gauge semi autos and both have performed flawlessly I think the inertia driven system is on point, I have had nothing but problems with gas driven semi autos
What about dragging a sled behind you?
Great setup, great hunt and great video!
keep the vids coming man! they are great! but i would like to see you driving the boat back to the ramp or going to the hole
Nays👍👍👍🦆
Nice
Had an idea you could do in the future with two boats. One for early season with more green and the other can be for late season.
With my Thia longtail, 85lb Lab, carrying 4 doz full size Mallards, Spinner bag, and gun bag there was always extra room. Bunngy your decoy bags across the boat bow.
That poor mojo! 😆
Great video, I think you need to get her out. Real situation reps is the best training. Every single dog will make mistakes and that’s how they learn after reps and reps of the situation. Keep up the good work!
That was a pretty quick hunt with a Bonus Dove. Wished you had showed how the Boat ran with all your gear. Enjoyed it Josh
Loosen up the cap screw a turn
What type of ear pro do you wear?
Really enjoyed this video Josh. Keep it up!
Awesome hunt bud!
Great video
What loads were you using? Great limit!
You should get a Frankie they are good
Got er did! Just a few critiques 1.)the birds you saw decoyed well but your boat camo didn't match the cover you can cut a few tuffs of green or what ever the natural cover and make it a better hide when birds become more wary. 2.) Should of bought an old Remington 870..
Other than that good job! lol I've been watching you basically grow up on your videos and you have become a good hunter. Keep up the good work.
Is nice word keep up the hard work
Wish we had some good marsh habitats in South Carolina. Only thing in the marsh is the main channels to hunt. Every good looking spot to hunt in the marsh is either privately owned or state owned for which they prohibit hunting on them😂 many sad days on trying to find good spots
Why’d the limit change from 6 to 3?
The limit is 6 for a day he already shot 3 that same day in the morning so these 3 made up his 6 for the day.
What is the dry weight do you think of the different boats? Which Weatherby? I have a Element, haven’t had any problems.
Could you do an episode for a new hunters showing the things you need to have to hunt public land the permit you need and what you have to tag the birds with
Dude, what do you mean shes not ready yet?? Shes well over a year old now. Youve had plenty of time to follow your CGA program and have her ready. Are you waiting until shes at a Master Hunter level before hunting her? Whats your concern with her?
CGA reccomends first hunts to set the pup for success by leaving the gun at home and only focusing on handling, also mallards feet down are an “easier” mark for the dog. Josh is following the program correctly. Give him time.
I'm not very impressed by your new 12 gauge
Was this hunt before the thunderstorm video?
Your justification for keeping Kora home is valid and in line with what Josh Parvin would recommend.
First few hunts the dog should be set up for success : Handler focusing on only the dog not shooting, and having big mallards feet down in the decoys makes an easier mark.
Good job Josh, hope to see you at a members weekend.
Man what would I give to live where you do?! North Alabama is rough. Great videos brother keep it up!
what cartridge are you shooting??
oh ok now I know where she is I had to watch the video more great vid
Is that real??? Is it a scam or from you
Great video man! What hearing protection are you using?
Brought so much stuff but your dog lol
where’s kora at
The only question I need answered is which boat did you pay for and which boat did you get free ??? I think we already know the answer haha.
Didn’t you buy a hunting dog awhile back? What happened to that?
You’re doing the right thing by keeping Cora out of the field until you think she’s ready. To many people rush training and end up ruining their dog.
I feel like your missing prime training opportunities with your dog during teal season. You say she isn't ready but no dog is 100% ready until they hit that field and learn.
Check out the new FDH vid. Sometimes you just gotta get em out there. If you are confident in her basics and obedience, then take her out and let her learn.
Birds make bird dogs she will never be ready until she has opportunities to connect the dots from training to hunting get her out there.
Take your dog and not the camera. Dogs don't live near long enough and you gotta take advantage of every hunt you get with your companion.. they learn something on every hunt and you can only teach so much in a training environment.
Got my gun out for dove opener and shot low brass and it wasn’t cycling right either. Didn’t do it when I shot regular high brass duck loads during teal season
