    You can just use the cheapest granulated dishwasher powder as your soak solution. Just make sure it phosphate free. Most spa products are just common household cleaning agents with fancy packaging and insane price markups

    Jeff, it seems as though you have a Master Spa hot tub, same filter cover guard as mine, plus you have the 2-part Eco-Pur filter system.
    My understanding from all of the Master Spa documentation is that the core of the Eco-Pur filter should NEVER be cleaned with anything but water. You may want to address this in a re-do of your video for those that have the 2-part Eco-Pur filter system from Master Spa (just saying) :-)

    If it is not a good idea to run hot tub without filter then when you do bio-film cleanup are you not running without filter?

    Jef, Thanks for this video. On my Calspa Escape 751 6 persons, i only have 1 big tall filter. I use a tube (closed on 1 side), slightly bigger as the diameter of the filter, and a little larger then its height to soak the filter in. This means less water, and less concentration product to use, so longer life ...I have seen a company in Holland who converted the filters in such a way that they taken out the micron filter paper, and put some filter balls inside the filters that can easily be washed in a dishwasher. The balls are also much cheaper than the filters who are pretty expensive (90€/filter every 7 months !!!); I wonder if you have a video on alternatives for filters to use, or modifications so we can use them longer. Also a solution as on a pool with external sandfilers filled with glas, and backwash to cleanwould be very interesting. Have you ever seen anything like this. Many thanks

    Hi Jeff how long do you run your filter cycles for on a hot tub I just got mine a week ago and my water is turning a tinge of green my bromine level is high everything else is ok

    • @HotTubOwnerHQ
      @HotTubOwnerHQ  Před 3 lety

      Hi Silvio
      Often that green color is iron in the water reacting with chlorine or bromine. But if that's it, it usually goes away 30 minutes or so after adding the chemicals and is not harmful.
      You can, however, add some Leisure Time Metal Gon (on Amazon - amzn.to/30zsXIX) to lower the metal levels in your hot tub.
      If you don't think that's it, for filter cycles, they should run for 2-4 hours at least 3 times per day. I like to run at least 2 of those at night when I'm not using it, but you can also set them to run during off-peak times when your electricity is cheaper (often 5-9pm and 6-10am, but check with your electric company).

      No don’t put soap! Soaps lotions shampoos etc are what makes your hot tub scummy and foamy. Just use vinegar and water

    Is there a front and back to hot tubs? I see your filter is not easily accessible... wondering how our future hot tub should be placed? Is there a distance from the house we should keep? Like at least 4-5 feet from house ( we have a basement and window wells that project 2 feet away from house in the area we are looking to place it). Thanks!

      I have a similar question. Ours should be coming in a few weeks and they are saying it needs to be 3 feet from the wall due to future maintenance/leaks. I was thinking I could just drain it and move it away if there were any issues.

    • @HotTubOwnerHQ
      @HotTubOwnerHQ  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Jean and Daniel. Great questions. My hot tub was here when I bought the house, so in an ideal world, I wouldn't have built the privacy fence right up against those 2 sides. 3 foot clearance would be great.
      Most hot tubs empty still weigh 600 lbs so not the easiest thing in the world to move, and they are awkward because of the size too. So if it were me, I would not have my strategy be to move it if a problem cropped up.
      That being said, there is a front side and that's the side behind the panel where your equipment is. That side should be the most accessible for sure as that's where a lot of your leaks and repairs will be.
      Usually you want the disconnect box within 6 feet of the hot tub, so if that's being mounted to the house, then that's about the right distance. But 2 of my 4 hot tubs have been further away. It just requires the disconnect box to be mounted on a pole on it's own, but that's not usually an issue.
      From a comfort standpoint, I like my hot tub relatively close to the house (5-6 feet) as it's great in wintertime, but I wouldn't want to walk a long distance in the cold wearing only a swimsuit.

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 Před rokem

      When deciding which direction to orient the spa you need to first figure out the route the power cord must take from the house to the connector. Then make certain the panel with the equipment is readily accessible for repairs. Then you need to figure what the control panel display can be read from outside the tub. Lastly you must determine a place for the steps and cover lift. With all those consideration it would be ideal to have about 3 feet open space around the circumference of the tub. Most people don’t have that option so power cable and equipment panel usually take priority and the others are compromised
