His edge work is very good and the smaller rinks in north America will help with his overall limits in skating, although I see his skating as a strength. Second, in so many of those clips he makes a beautiful play/pass and his teammates don't finish on basically every single play. Third, ESPECIALLY, with defenseman, looking at their overall numbers in a professional league with men is foolish and makes no sense. Put Jiricek in the CHL and I'd like to see the numbers he would put up. He's top 20 in draft.

Yeah I would have like to see him against his own age group. That's why that is such a shame he's injured and won't be able to play at the U18.

@@SimonSt-L-Scouting Probably a good thing he didnt play. That coach made everyone look bang average. He even screamed at players to play it "safe" in OT against fucking Kazakhstan.

Some really good points. I noticed throughout the years that strength and explosiveness at this age can be improved, but their current strength and explosiveness are really important to note. I always assume things like shot power and balance will get improved naturally by gaining weight, but raw explosiveness and puck control are lesser developed after their draft year. I have a hard time believing Jiriceks explosiveness will dramatically change when he puts on muscle, but his top end speed and play along the boards is quite good for his current weight.
I also question his offensive hockey IQ. It's mediocre at best, but the puck control combined with good skating and work along the boards should get him drafted within the top 25 as long as the medical reports all check out.
