Tha last 20 seconds are unique, the jam, the visuals... all the VHS glory. 5:11
Looks like 80's, but it also looks like 90's... They were so similar.
Late 80s, early 90s.
+Jero Briggs Truly that was an era unto its own.
The music for that open was promotional music used by Fox at around that same time.
Ser Abiótico lol
Hank Azaria is so underrated. In my opinion, he has the best characters and the most diverse voice.
unfortunately they have axed Apu because people were complaining that he was an Indian steriotype.
I hope they bring him back. It can’t be hard to find a new voice actor.
Unfortunately he gave up on Apu, and Carl was replaced by a black person.
Hank might have talent but has no spine
These guys gonna die knowing they made a hell of a history. So many generations grew up with The Simpsons
The Simpsons is truly the first American animated sitcom not to have a laugh track.
That’s exactly right!
Gave us 10 extra minutes of jokes and they used it
And has been on for a phenomenal 30 odd yrs. Now , longer than any other show i know...
I can't think of any cartoon sitcom that uses a laugh track
@@planetX15 Well, The Flintstones & the first season of The Jetsons had a laugh track.
Old episodes of the Simpson's will always be the best
Yep! 1-7th seasons
Yes, seasons 1-10 are the best years of The Simpsons!
So true.
@@zyber9 yeah but seasons 11-15 were okayish(to some degree in my opinion). Season 16 onwards not so much.
Some new ones can also be good . like “sky police”
1995 i used to set the timer on VHS and record the Simpsons. Watched every episode that year. I was 10 years old and obsessed. Time just keeps on slippin
Damn I was born that year
i STILL cannot work out the timer
I was born a year after 1995
@@gloryoffandoms4844 I came out of my mother bush I
also remember Jaen Simpson and The other Simpson's from time of VHS golden.
...into the future
R.I.P Sam Simon
Thanks for helping make part of my childhood
Did you know that he was married to actress, Jennifer Tilly?
You can't HANDLE the 90s!
I remember watching this promo on Fox with my sister when we were kids and when we first saw Dan Castellaneta, we were so surprised on how such a normal guy voiced such a unusual character. Ah, memories.
Anyone else feel it was a shame that they switched from cel to digital animation? I get the advantages and efficiencies-and they can do amazing things with that technology now, but I do feel there was an inherent organic touch to the cel animation that made it from human and relatable-and probably on some level informed movement/colour and so on. I don't know, maybe it is just me...
I agree but unfortunately it’s expensive for studios to go back and do that.
I think it's the colouring that is the worst aspect of digitalising hand drawn frames, if the cel frames were animated on a computer but were hand painted there would probably be no difference, although the saddest part is that in the last 10 years or so they probably haven't even drawn pencil to paper at all but used graphics tablets hence that sickening artificial look.
@@markusjohnson6558 it's not like it's a lost art at all. they still do it to this day and will always be used but it doesn't end up in the final product for you to see. a good example is the game cuphead that was all hand animated and was later digital colored.
At least its still hand drawn the coloring is just digital.
Hanna-Barbera already did digital coloring for animated shows in the 1980s, later for television commercials in America in the 1990s.
Amazingly, after nearly 30 years on the air (including the Tracy Ullman Show), none of the principle voice characters have died.
+SharkByte LLC One did. The voice of Mrs. Krabaple died
ArrlenStudios She wasn't a principle voice character. She was a side character, like Phil Hartman.
and as soon as a single one of them finally buys the farm, the producers might as well call it quits.
That not true. Chris Lotta was the original voice of Burns.
kavner's vocal chords are pretty much dead
Back when they had talented writers
they do less table reads less realistic different emotional genre shows now they don't do writers retreats or as much rewriting in the room as they used to I think its really been since jim brooks left well they say he still comes around every now and again not much but I doubt it I bet he never comes around he used to influence a lot of the good seasons and be around all the time also it made the writers feel more obligated to write better to impress him cause he had to approve of the main idea story plot first before it was actually written the first few years and come on you get him to laugh you got the job sam simon also used to be involved well they made the good ones and thus because of success went on to do other things themselves that they can call their own not someone else's show like mike reiss and al jean went on to make the critic josh Weinstein and bill okaley went on to make mission hill a lot of them went to do futurama which is also matt groenings show but more for the nerdy writers who are like the more fans who are nerds which lets them write more free like themselves or conan he has a few late night shows right he left after 2 seasons I think because he was to take over david lettermans show so things like that occurred oh well
For me, The Simpsons started going downhill in Spring 1999, but was passable until "Lisa the Drama Queen". After that, the Simpsons became more painful to watch, with the family acting like their IQs have dropped twenty points.
now it poop
oh please, stop with that shit
I miss talented writers
that computer tho
Isaac Alinda the quintessential '90s.
@Roger B It was prob done with every movement drawn out, a photo taken of each movement then the negatives put together to create the film.
@@sludgetime Thanks for the information.
R.I.P Marcia Wallace and Phil Hartman
Christopher James i miss them
@@coolkatsimpsonsfan2363 Let's not forget Christopher Collins, will we?
R.I.P, Russi Taylor
Don’t forget Sam simon
I miss the 90s D:
Lisa’s voice actor. Yearledy Smith. Was originally born in France
I love how the end of the video is so early 1990s!
So early it still thought it was late 80s.
Just remember this was once considered a modern style.
There’s so much care and passion in it
It’s weird how much it fell
Those last few seconds are so A E S T H E T I C
START A CHAIN OF YOUR FAVORITE SIMPSONS MEMORIES:
- I remember being a kid sitting in a tote that would otherwise hold clothes & was alone in my room on halloween watching the treehouse of horror ep.1 w the episode "The raven" voice by james earl jones was MY FAVORITE! Loved it. Still do til this day :)
My first episode was the one where Bart becomes a hall monitor. I don't know why, but I had it on tape, but it started halfway through. It was years before I ever saw the first half. We only had 3 TV channels. I'm not sure where that tape came from. I think the neighbors filmed something on it for us and that was left over.
I don't remember which episode I watched the very first, all I know is that I like them since I was 3 back in 2001 when they were being aired in my country. In fact, first 15 seasons were aired with a huge success in Serbia, later seasons were aired on different networks.
I never watched this show from the start but i think i started watching it when i was probably 5, maybe earlier since i don't really remember being 3. Me and my little sister watched it in our parents room every night and i'd get so excited when their was a double episode and we would beg our parents to let us stay up past our bedtime so we could watch it. And then when we got older we would play with our bratz dolls and as soon as we heard the theme tune play we would bolt to the tv so we wouldn't miss the 'funny part' ... that part where they rush to the couch and something funny happens. I don't watch it as often anymore since i barely turn on the tv and i don't really enjoy the new episodes but when ever i get bored i go and watch old episodes on my laptop.
0:38 "There, you see..." No, I don't.
I like that music from Homer's Odyssey in the beginning! 😊
Early '90s Fox is my personal aesthetic
I love this
Same
I love the 90s in general
Before al Jean raped it
How does hank azaria look younger now than he did in 1992
It's a phrase that begins with "p" and ends with "lastic surgery"
@@lpsp442 Just like in the show.
Hank Azaria joined the show at age 22.
R.I.P Sam Simon God Bless You
Poor guy had ♋️. 😿! He was married to actress, Jennifer Tilly.
5:01 woah, 90s overload right here
0:41 they need bring back music like this to the show, the classic Simpsons sounding music
I have nothing but respect for this folks, and also the legendary Mel Blanc, that guy defined entertainment in my childhood. RIP
i forgot simpsons used to be animated by klasy chupo
produced by Klasky, although some season 1 episodes were animated by them
Klaspy chupo also made rugrats
It really is truly amazing that a handful of voice actors brought SO MANY characters to life for so many years. All those old writers also went to work on other big projects too. For a few good years each episode was the prime example of great television
Thanks so much for uploading this!
Omg Sam Simon looks very young RIP genius
WE WILL MISS YOU SAM SIMON
@The Simpsons Clips apparently he did back in 2015, this is the first time I heard of it also.
I don't think there will be a cartoon like The Simpsons ever again. There's a reason why it's still going on decades later.
5:15 I got shivers down to my guts. For just 2 seconds I was a kid watching TV under my blankets again.
I have been a fan since the beginning on the Tracy Ullman show! I have listened to all the commentaries but I have never seen any of the writers, producers, and what not, except Groening. I recognize all the names but the faces look way different than I thought they looked from their voices! They're all nerds...rich, rich, RICH nerds!
That "The Simpsons: Behind the Scenes" (1992) would be good for Disney+.
This was so amazing! Thank you!!!
I remember seeing a rebroadcast or taped showing of this. I come from Rochester so it was known to pop up here and there
Thanks for the upload, fun the living color promo, the Simpsons took over there Sunday at 8pm slot.
Awesome Behind The Scenes Documentary About The Simpsons. D'OH. Thanks Mate. X
“To know I’m part of cartoon history is great” that comment aged beautifully
THANKS FOR THIS MAGIC MOMENT
RIP Sam Simon.
Whoa, dig the period early '90s graphics on the commercial break left in this video after the Simpson's clip ended!
5:15 woo yeah woo yeah!
hear that sampled break on loads of shit even nowadays!
Wow! I love Nancy Cartwright! She did The voice of Bart Simpson And Rufus The Naked Mole Rat On Ben 10 Another animated tv show! (cartoon Network) Love You Nancy!
*Kim Possible ( Disney ).
@@steamboatwill3.367 I... have no idea who was Ben 10 but yes, the Ben 10 Franchise was Cartoon network, while yes we all know KP was from the Mouse.
damn their oily hides for getting Blue Sky axed! Sorry for ..... being so hogwashingly attention seeking.
I freaking love these guys!
Fun fact: The footage shown in the promo is where they were doing the "Kamp Krusty" episode for Season 4. It was the last episode (along with A Streetcar Named Marge) to be animated by Klasky Csupo before moving to Film Roman
Dan, Julie, Nancy, Yeardley, Hank and Harry look so young 😅
Klasky Csupo everywhere i look in my life you're behind my favorite animations how do u do this??? You even have your own distinct drawing style with duckman and rugrats! HOW???
R.I.P Sam Simon
jkkk
+Carla Johnson not funny.
ㅠㅠ
😭😭😭
Back when the Simpsons were actually funny.
I couldnt agree more. I dont watch any of the new episodes.
the movie was funny because the old writers came back its all about the writing think about it back when they cared they wrote emotional sad fun shows variety that embodied family life cared about side character stories weren't just generic gags stupidity and homer torture porn kinda like SpongeBob after the movie when the creator left now everyone is generic like remember when bart used to write songs for lisas birthday or make her feel better by prank calling moe jut to make her laugh or when marge would become a policewoman be really good at it and just left cause her family simply needed her more and its not a big deal theres no big conspiracy or dumb thing going on its sweet and kinda is what occurs in reality
First 10 seasons are the best
evilTaker90V2 then matt Selman became the main writer
evilTaker90V2 I will say season 14 or 15 but that only means their jokes are funnier than 98% of all American comedies these days.
The saddest thing about the Simpsons is that there has been nearly twice a many bad seasons as there have been great. My son is 10 years old and he loves the Simpsons, but will not watch any episodes past season 13. My mates daughter likes the newer episodes because they have celebrities like Lady Gaga.
Kudos to these guys for an iconic show
LOL I remember this! I thought I would only see it once in my lifetime when I was a little kid, but now I can see it again! It must have been at least twenty years since I first saw this clip.
Hank is really handsome! Even to this day he is stunning!
Damn go get it sis!!
Good heavens, do you 🤔 that he was dreamy back when he was as a young 👨🏻?
some serious throwback right there
Did they skip the part where all the inbeetween drawings are done in Korea?
***** oh thanks, I missed that part
You mean it isn't done by child labor in China?
Nope, eskimos in igloos
If only 90's cartoons were animated fully here in the USA like they used to be. but sadly everyone has to be cheap.
steamerthesteamtrain truth be told many of the animators from that era were not given good treatment. They were paid horribly, shelterd in shacks, and barely got to eat. All of that would not be so much of a bad thing if they were at least credited for there labor. None of the in-between artists of that day were given credit for there work. Only there supervisors and directors got there names in the credits along with all the glory. It's criminal really.
1:31 I miss Homer's original voice :(
Wow, this is gold, as isn't on the DVDs Bonus.
Behind the scenes is very interesting, because I want to work with the voice actors so bad. In fact, I mentioned about Dan Castellaneta in my autobiography project that I did for elementary 🏫 21 years ago for the voice acting part when it comes to being an adult at the age of 25. My dad also suggested that I may also have the pleasure of working with Hank Azaria, because he does more voices than Dan Castellaneta does for 2D animation. It's such a shame that he stopped doing Apu's voice due to racial comments. Harry Shearer officially quit his voice acting job even though rumors have been spreading worldwide. No need to start to 🤣 at the voice actors who quit their jobs. 👍🏻 if you agree with my comment.
2:40 notice how his actual voice is closest to Moe's?
The best years of the Simpsons
I know that outsourcing the animation is kind of a tradition to get the animation faster but what if every single episode of The Simpsons should be made at Disney's Animation Studios in Burbank and done by Disney's greatest 2D animators and have little to no outsourcing.
Wow I'm sure they have gone along way from those days in animation. Wow I didn't know the Simpsons were animated and Filmed on the same Studios As the Rugrats. This make since on How Nancy Cartwright got the Role as the Second voice of Chuckie Finster.
Hey what state was this Fox Channel on? I grew up watching Fox61 Hartford Connecticut in the 90s
Wesley Archer also worked in king of the hill
I used to take a piss on simpsons only because it was early 90s and even though I was born in 92 I didnt reallly watch the simpsons and grew up more with Family guy but havent really watched the show since 2017.I played the games for simpsons like hit and run which is such a classic that has such a very high replay value never gets boring, top notch voice acting, gameplay just all around a great game.Watching this video made me really appreciate the Simpsons even more.
Omg Yeardley Smith's outfit is amazing
Amazing ! ❤
The last 20 seconds of this video took me back to innocence. Back when you only had one option to watch a movie on Fox
I was born in 1997. been watching the simpsons since i was 4 yrs old. now I'm 19 going on to 20. I still enjoy it! the only show I would say that has gone downhill is spongebob.
The Golden era of The Simpsons
This makes me feel so old watching this
Im 30 so yep
I miss the scoring of episodes... you really heard that in Season 1... some amazing cues.
New golden age simpsons episodes and in living color, what a time
so what was the movie coming up?
700th subscriber
Is it me or does James L. brookes kinda looks like jim Henson
What is the music playing?
beautiful
Nice animation
What animation program would that have been? It looks a lot like Microsoft Paint but I assume it’s not.
3:46 what is this program ?
Bart’s voice in the beginning is so cute lmao 😂
Barts the BEST! !
It's still so eerie to hear such distinct voices coming from the mouths of regular-looking people.
1:15 pretty much me when I try to skate and I fall.
Does anybody know the music that’s playing in the background?
sounds like an extended version of the theme song
It's really hard to watch The Simpsons nowadays... I mean, how can you compare this masterpiece 01:54 with anything today?
You know how you hear your voice different than how it actually sounds? I've always wondered how characters like Bart and Homer sounded to the voice actors doing the voice.
I love the Simpsons. The older episodes are best!
definitely 👍
Same and so do my friends. My family loves it, too.
everyone so young, this show has been on a long time.
Good stuff
justwatched that episode lol
Come to me Nostalgia!
4:52 oh look, this is the famous BANNED EPISODE from The Simpsons 😊
