You’re not fit to get a dog. Cats are like houseplants. They’ll make you feel less lonely, but don’t require as much effort as a dog. If you’re going to be out of the house a lot (work, travel etc) then a cat is better suited for you.

I know it's a joke but majority of cats I've know are extremely loyal to their owners. I've been in some homes and they would not approach me they stuck by their owners side.
