Bowen, I love that you so often express appreciation for pinball music and sound design. Thanks.

It's definitely an aspect of the game that is overlooked. It matters a lot to the overall feel, and it takes a ton of work to get right!

This game is truly among the most underrated of all time, and worse, it's very rare you actually see one out in the wild. Glad to see it getting some love!

this is an incredibly brutal game that Bowen turns into child's play. An amazing game from that era. thanks for the thorough video.
Extra balls are easily turned off in settings, and make sure the center ramp shot is narrow.

I only noticed this in recent years, but I love how the lights on the playfield flash in time to this table's main music. I don't know of many other tables where that actively happens.

One of my FAVORITE machines. Just a great feeling pin.

This looks like a nice playing Mousin'. I agree that it's definitely one of those types of games where if the flippers aren't strong enough, the game just isn't any fun to play.

This table was on location at SGDQ 2017 for the attendees and I absolutely fell in love with it. My errant shot accuracy meant I couldn't reliably hit either of the locks, so I wasn't able to post incredible scores, but this was still a blast of a table to play.
For the center bank, I know a lot of people consider that shot a death shot, but after playing around with it I found some nifty ways to hit those and keep a fair bit of control about the ball. Sadly, as that event was six months ago and I haven't seen the table since, prior to this video, I don't remember much about how I'd gone about it. I do remember preferring glancing shots for the 1, glancing into the left ramp, but not much about the 2 or 3. Since one center scoop shot lights the ramps for MILLION letters and three lights the kickback on the left (and it's also a shot that's worth 100k [as you mentioned] and spells your CHEESE letters), I'd always bang out at least three of them before going back to ramps for CHEESE bonuses and jackpot build, for the MILLION collect plus a couple CHEESE bonuses, especially considering my struggles with the lock shots. The center scoop closes up after a ball drain, Mouse Hole shot, or I also believe on a ball lock during normal play. I don't remember what it does during multiball.
I too remember a lot of extra balls on the table from the CHEESE bonus.
Ahh yes. At least the table I played on, the bonus count rolled over at 1 million, so if you were at 999k, with a triple you got 2,997,000. Advance one more thousand and your bonus was 0. I don't know if this was an issue with that specific table or a thing with all Mouse Traps overall.
    Great tutorial!

Oh, I never knew that about the bonus. You can play for a target bank like 1-2-3 by playing the angles on each shot and deciding which side to hit it from. But they are still very dangerous. In competition, the ramp behind that target bank is often narrowed to make it more difficult -- because otherwise I agree, making 100k per shot with little risk is a ticket to a good score.
Hopefully there will be pinball machines at SGDQ 2018!

The first time I saw this game in competition was in NWPC 2012 (I was in Novice back then, I was too new to this stuff), and that center ramp switch was actually disabled, so those 100K's could not be acquired. This was actually the first game I've ever played that had ramp feeds place balls _after_ the inlane switches, so embarrassingly, one of my drains was off the right ramp and me flipping too late because I wasn't used to that! XD

That was very impressive. Any tips on how to condition yourself to let the ball bounce off the flipper over to the one you want it on? When it’s racing down the playfield I have trouble not nailing it immediately whenever I get the chance.

Just let the ball come to you. Don't bat it away every time it comes toward you. Think in terms of catching and controlling the ball, not in deflecting it.

    • @privationproject

Just let it happen...seems counter intuitive at first but after you do it a few times (and after you accidentally let it drain a few times) it'll be the easiest trick in your arsenal
