Terro liquid ant bait is made of borax and they carry it back to their nest to feed the rest of the ants and the queen. They do all the work for u and it’s in a packet that u snip the tip off and u never have to touch it. They crawl in/out and deliver it on their own. It’s sold at most chain grocery stores. Don’t ever have to come in contact with the liquid which is safe as long as not ingested.

Now, veracity of this quote aside, it says a lot that you didn't give up on the tool and kept trying. You're amazing!

We had an ant issue at our house for years. We tried insecticides but that didn't work. We finally got desperate enough to try using chalk dust. To our surprise, that actually worked. You'll need super fine chalk dust. Run lines of chalk dust around the edges of the walls, doors, and in the path of the ants tracks if you can find them. The chalk disrupts the pheromone trail they use to find their nests and each other and it sticks to them. We had regular black ants, not carpenter ants, but it might work on them too. It's cheap to try anyway and totally non toxic.

I had a small farm for years and this homemade Ant Bait recipe will do the trick. You need: very, very tiny shallow dishes... I used container lids and bottle caps... Bottle caps, juice lids etc work quite well... You will need: Honey or sugar water & Boric Acid Powder.
Heat your honey up a bit, mix just a tiny bit of the BA powder. It only needs to be about 2% to be effective. The ants will carry it to the nest and within a week you will notice a big difference. I used this sticky stuff outside as well... It works well and it works fast. At this concentration it is mostly non-toxic to humans and pets. I suggest using DE powder around your home as a barrier. I hope this helps. As a tip: any food with BA works at 1%-2% so can easily use whatever your ants desire.
For fruit flies, flies, mosquitoes.... mix Fruit Juice,
ACV, dish soap and Fish sauce. Shake. Prepare plastic water bottles with the tops cut off and taped inverted back onto the Bottles. Add your Mix.
    My ratio is about
    1/2 : 1 Acv / Juice
For each cup of above mixture add 1 drop of dishsoap and 1/4 tsp of fish sauce.
Place upright where flying pests bother OUTSIDE.
For indoors, omit the fish sauce. Hot ACV kills the most flies. Agitate daily until your issues are gone. Its gross but... Old bugs in the mix does draw more bugs... Gross. :) I hope this helps someone.

Hi Emmy! I've been watching your videos for a couple of years now. My 7 y/o son and I binge watched all of your fruity fruits videos when I first discovered you on CZcams. I have always grabbed whatever strange new fruit to try from the store, so I was super excited to watch your exploratory fruit videos! You are known as the "fruity fruits lady" in our household. 😁
Diatomaceous Earth is great for getting rid of anything with an exoskeleton. My husband used to work in pest control, and most PC companies use DE mixed with poison to kill them faster, but you can use just regular, toxin-free, all natural DE too. Just sprinkle it along ant paths and in any open crevices where you see them regularly. I have pets and kids, so I prefer toxin free solutions whenever possible. I put a couple handfulls in my chickens dust baths and a little in their food to ward off mites and internal parasites, and up their minerals. It works amazingly well. Just be mindful that it's not really good to inhale DE, so wear a mask while sprinkling.
    Good luck!

    Emmy please listen!!
The carpenter ants ARE NOT harmless. They bite quite readily and release formic acid when they do. This causes a swollen red mark that itches 24/7 for a solid week but burns when you scratch it. If you get bit it resembles a flea or mosquito bite (depending on your bodies allergic reaction) for a couple days if you scratch it inflames, if you manage to resist it fades over the course of several days while constantly itchy. The ones i accidentally scratch flare up and last weeks! It's awful.
You also need an exterminator. They can quickly cause structural damage to your home by hollowing out bits of wood as they nest - they dont consume the wood. If you live somewhere humid it's worse.
In the meantime...for the ones you see crawling around your house (vs the ones literally in the structure) sprinkle diatomaceous earth. It is very effective and affordable and 100% nontoxic to mammals and will also get rid of other exoskeleton pests. Hopefully that will keep you and your family from experiencing one of these bites.
Best of luck and thank you for all the years of great content!

We use a spray bottle full of orange oil, a little clove oil (if we have any), rubbing alcohol, and water to dilute it. The scent both deters the ants and covers up any scent trails left behind by them but you do have to be careful what surfaces you spray it on since it can break down surfaces thanks to the clove(which also helps kill the ants)

menthol helps! line it where they come in or dilute it in water (like green menthol oil; i'd do 1:1) . but if you have ants and want to decrease potential spread(?) you should wipe the areas where they walk because they leave pheromone trails for other ants to follow.
