  • Unboxing my new Universal Audio Apollo X8P Interface!
Here is a quick unboxing video. I am so excited to try this unit out! I might make some more videos with the X8P demo-ing it or showing my set up. Please let me know if you have questions or tips!

I really want this interface but it’s super expensive

Definitely expensive, but worth the investment in my opinion. I would recommend starting with something smaller or cheaper depending on your needs/budget and upgrading as you go. I've used other interfaces that were much cheaper and worked well for me in the past.

@@jessefulco I’m currently using the focusrite scarlet 2i2 3rd gen maybe I should upgrade to the 18i20

@@darkestpointofficial I was using the 18i20 3rd Gen and I liked it. More channels, better pre amps, etc…
It would definitely be an upgrade from the 212. I think you would see a noticeable difference. It’s a good pre amp for the price!

Which DB25 connector are you using? Thanks :)

After talking more with my guy from Sweetwater, I ended up returning the cable because I won't need it for what I am doing! But it does come in handy in certain situations.
Here is a link to the cable:

you don’t feel that interface is outdated? cause they gona drop the new lines soon with better conversion unless the software gets updated like they did for the 16 with atmos and they update all the interfaces with built in sonarworks like rme

Yes and no. For me personally, this interface was a major upgrade from what I was using in the past.
I do agree that it is an "older" interface, but I wouldn't say outdated.
I was recently in some of the top studios in Los Angeles and they were all using the Apollo X8 or the Apollo X6. I still think the Apollo X8P is better than those. For me, the quality, processing, and conversion is amazing. Some of the best tracks were recorded in studios using these interfaces.
I think interfaces will only continue to improve as technology keeps advancing. There will always be something bigger or better, but this one works for me. I am looking forward to seeing what they will come out with next!

@@jessefulcoI hear you but keep in mind as someone who worked in the industry and used to live in LA and has been to and worked out of many of those studios, they were used on everything cause UAD is the Apple of the audio world and at the time DSP while tracking was the main reason why.
DSP while tracking in 2024 doesn’t matter anymore with the advancement of current computers. If this was 2018 or 19’ or even 2021 and I was still there at the time I would agree but now, Idk.
At this point I personally have to hold off. RME is doing laps around UAD right now and so are a few other companies.
But we shall see. May is around the corner and they could make announcements for Summer Namm
      So we shall see.
But you are right there will always be something better overall at some point or another.

@@nine27 UAD is almost the “industry standard” in a lot of studios so I understand the “Apple of the audio world” comment. But I still think they hold up and sound great. I think they’re used by a lot of studios for a good reason. I also agree that the advancements of current computers is amazing. And I see what you’re saying about DSP while tracking.
I haven’t personally used RME interfaces but I’ve heard amazing things. I would love to test some RME products out and see how I like them!
Definitely looking forward to seeing what they come out with next. From both UAD and RME.
