Rivers are the lifeblood of our planet, providing essential ecosystem services and supporting countless communities. Yet, they face numerous challenges that threaten their health and sustainability. The Maritime Research Center is planning a Community-based River Warriors project, which is crucial for sustainable river management. These grassroots champions can more effectively monitor, protect, and restore rivers by leveraging technology.
Technological interventions enable River Warriors to monitor river health, engage stakeholders, and influence policy. By blending modern technology with traditional knowledge, they can enhance their capacity to protect and restore vital river ecosystems.
The Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) framework offers a unique approach to river basin management. By employing modelling and simulation followed by field validation, UDA provides an economical, efficient, and time-saving method for informed decision-making.
