I remember Uriah’s interview with the Schmo before his fight with Andre Muniz where he was talking about being in the title picture after this win and how styles make fights. At the time I just chalked it up to fighter talk, but this video puts that interview in a different perspective to me. It felt like Uriah was trying to convince himself he was a high caliber fighter rather than us. Hall could have been a title challenger [or maybe even a champ] if he could consistently pull the trigger. In some of his fights, Hall was very clearly losing until he basically decided to KO his opponents. I’m pretty confident had Hall beat Strickland, we would have gotten Adsenya vs Hall title fight. Hall didn't have much gas tank, he seemed to "quit" sometimes especially the last few years...and he zones out ! You can see it on the stool between rounds, nonechalant, unresponsive, unfocused, kinda not motivated, then he never worked on his wrestling, or wrestling defense at least !!! In any case it never evolved for some reason, guys just knew to take him down, hold him down and grind a finish or a decision... Still one entertaining fighter we had the privilege to watch

There's also the fact that he isn't very young but most MMA strikers not in the heavyweight division that achieve a consistent level of success are either very proficient counter strikers or if they do lean more heavy on proactive offense like Hall have a complimentary wrestling pedigree to accompany it so they aren't as susceptible to takedowns and can mix up on offense.

If hes lucky the UFC will let him fight the winner of Jiri/Poatan but after losing to Sean I doubt it but we'll see. Not saying youre wrong because he did live up to the hype but those days are nearly over. Of course he could be like McNuggets and just take big money fights occassionaly but his championship era isnt fading but I hope he gets one last shot at the LHW belt. To me he had the ability to be a great fighter with a mindset to match. the Rub is that fighting only goes down with one opponent at a time meaning you don't have to be the most rounded fighter in order to implement a sound strategy. BUT in Order to Advance in the UFC you have to make a show of it! The ability to be callous enough about a sport that's been so good to/for him yet at the same time incentivizes taking that good fortune away from the opponents by Doing them "Serious" Damage. It creates a unique space for sum1 like Hall who for all intents and purposes is too good at that objective. It doesn't leave much room for grace/mercy which robs him of being a good person. its the difference between you losing a match but its also the threat of losing/taking someones life/livelihood and thats normal looking at a lawyer movie...should be applicable here too. They didn't/couldnt pay him enough to fight as if he was gonna take people out the game (possibly permanently) so they benched him like major music labels did the Clipse or Lupe's albums. If you won't play ball like we want then you won't at all until your contract is up and your old(er). He's still relatively young and healthy so All the highest Hopes for the "Reluctant Reaper"! P.S. I watched that Ultimate fighter eps. and it was a 'Perfect" Kick. It was So good Everybody shut because they were in Awe!

Far too many of these strikers think that they can ignore wrestling and B.J.J. and win and the reality is that without being able to take a man down effectively or defend against the same you will lose too many fights and not even crack the top 5 of any of the UFC weight classes. Even taking his "mental game" into consideration, had he been a good grappler then he would have survived even thrived taking guys down and simply sitting on them for wins.
