Doug Ingle - keyboards and lead vocals
    Lee Dorman - Bass
    Erik Braunn - Guitar
    Ron Bushy - Drums
That guitar effect is from something called a wah-wah pedal. It makes the tone of the guitar go from full bass to full treble in the same note.

Original title was "In the Garden of Eden" but it comes out Inagoddadivida is what comes out when you're wasted! True story.

I was at a wedding where at the end of the night, when it was just the bridal party left, the DJ started playing a game of name that tune. I wasn't really involved, until he played this song. He played 3 seconds of this and everybody kind of looked confused. So I had to get involved... I couldn't let this song go by without making sure the name was said by somebody 🤭

      That is an awesome story.
When I am not feeling well, and my friends are at the bar, I play this song just to troll them.
They love it, the other people don't.

This is one of rock's 'pinnacles of sound'. They defined psychedelic rock in the 60's. It's a crime that IB didn't have more hits or longevity. They had so much talent. I know they went through a lot of personnel changes.

When I saw them in 1969 they played this song for 44 minutes. I remember it being used in The Simpsons when Bart switched the sheet music in church. This is one of the longest songs in pop music. It takes one side of a 33 rpm record. The reason many songs are 3 minutes is because you can't fit much more on a 78 rpm or 45 rpm record.

This was supposed to be a sound check. The producer said lets run through it do so we can check the sound levels. He then pushed the record button and didn’t tell the group. When it was over,.. he said i want you to come in and hear something. Hence,….. one take. They did overdub the vocals and guitar i believe,…but it was a one take masterpiece,.. according to bass player,..Lee Dorman. Classic,… raw,… timeless!!!

That long, for just a sound check? And a long drum solo? Sounds like somebody was high when they came up with that.

The bandmembers, including Ingle, recollect that they were barely, if at all, aware they were being recorded. According to Bushy, "the engineer just ran the tape and said, 'Why don't you run through something and we'll get the balance here on the stuff. Run it through one time.' I didn't want to think about it. When those red lights are on, a lot of times it will screw me up. I couldn't see them from where I was."
As the band stormed through the song, Ingle started wondering what was going on: "We were like, 'Is this guy dense? How much time does he need?' So after we finished, he said 'come on in guys, I'd like you to hear this.' About two-and-a-half listens later we started getting goosebumps, like, 'This is really good.'" Luckily, Don Casale did know what he was doing, and he had captured the song on the first take. They immediately overdubbed the vocal and the guitar solo, and the song was completed.

@@kentclark6420 - It’s crazy epic!! If you listen carefully after the first Godzilla roar and the organ sustains,… you can hear what sounds like the toggling of switches or messing with a mic or something. Then the organ resumes. I was 3 when the album came out. Wore the album out in like 1973,.. at age 7. Thank you kindly.🤘✌️

One of my all time favorite bands. This is the song most people know but dig in to their stuff it is really good. Very psychedelic. A couple tracks to maybe listen to My Mirage, Are You Happy and Butterfly Blue.Note about the bass it is very repetitive on this track when you dig in this guy was one of the most underrated bassists of all time.

Other than some classical works, it is as long as any popular work of it's time. In 1968, this guitarist Erik Brann, was the only one that could rival Jimi Hendrix for being able to get radical sounds from his guitar.
You could try "Soul Experience" or "In the time of our lives" as a follow-up.

Early acid rock friend… lots of hallucinagens used by musicians in these days lol… that’s why all the solos and extra jamming 😂…. Asnd yes the comment was true… the song was in the garden of Eden but the singer was so fcked up that when they rehearsed it came out in a gada da vida… and they decided to keep it that

I don't play any instrument, can't even whistle----but----I could probably pick out the notes for "In A Gadda De Vida" on a piano. Anybody up for "Louie Louie"?
