    A few additional notes not mentioned in the video:
    Bright Cinema is my preferred picture mode. I watched largely in this mode and in Cinema Film 1. No special calibrations or other adjustments.
    I also approached this review the way I would do any real-world watching. I played the movies and shows I typically watch and decided which projector performed better to my eyes. Nothing especially sophisticated.

    There’s no difference in resolution, just aspect ratio. They’re both 4K native. The 325 has a native aspect ratio of something like 17:9, where as the newer 5000 has the normal 16:9 ratio. While the chips on the 325 has more pixels, they aren’t used for 16:9 content.

      With the 16:9 to 1 chip will you still benefit from a Panamorph lens for cinemascope? Or just zoom.

    I just bought this projector for my home theater after watching your review. Thank you so much for the recommendation. :)
    but now I get a 3 to 4 second input lag every time playing HDR Content on my Netflix using my Shield pro. Pretty much I am staring at a black screen Every time I start a video for four seconds before the display comes up, though the audio is playing on the background.

      No problem. I have had no issues at all with it. It is a very good projector. Bright Cinema looks like a massive tv. Reference, Cinema Film 1 & 2 looks more cinematic--like a commercial theater-like presentation. The overall picture is very impressive. The extra lumens made a big difference. And, it is noticeably more quiet than my previous projectors.

    I am still using my Sony 45es 1080p and wondering if I would like the XW5000. The one thing they have in common is the clunky lens adjustment wheels for positioning and adjusting the picture to the screen.

      For the review, I had it on a table. I had no issue at all
      adjusting it from the table. Adjusting it on the ceiling mount was a major pain. That had more to do with adjusting the mount than the projector lens. But, the motorized lens would have made it easier and quicker for sure. But, I shouldn't have to do it again anytime soon.

    • @stillbluehometheater1056

      Lots of factors to consider. For me, I have an 120" 16:9 non-AT white 1.3 gain Elite Screen. Elite Screens is an affordable brand. I went non-AT because I like seeing my speakers. 1.3 gain will reflect a bit more light. My first projector, not this one, output a decent amount of lumens but I wanted the higher gain screen to help add bit more brightness. My room is 100% light controlled so white material works just fine in my case. I went 16:9 because I watch a lot of varied content and used to that ratio. And, I went as big as I could for my space. 120" just fit. Ultimately, the 5000es and my current screen work pretty well together. And, for the money, its a good buy.

    • @stillbluehometheater1056
      @stillbluehometheater1056  Před 9 měsíci

      I would not recommend that pairing. 300in is a lot of surface area. 2K-3K lumens will not be enough for that much surface area. You would have to look at a 10K lumen projector like a Christie or a ultra high-end Sony.

    Awesome review!! Will subscribe and keep a watch on this. I’m considering the xw5000es too. Can it display House of the Dragon and darker content reasonably well? Edit: Just watched the second half and LOTR looks excellent. Maybe crushing some blacks but the highlights and overall image probably serve the director’s intent pretty effectively.

      For me, the darker scenes of House of the Dragon--particularly episode 7--were rough on whatever I watch them on. Generally, the 5000es does seem to loss a bit more detail in darker scenes. Its worth the mention but not so bad that I don't still love this projector.

      Base-black was determined to be an issue last spring at the MWAVE shootout event and later this past December at the Value Electronics shootout. Sony lost both shootouts at every price point to JVC! According to a Sony projector team engineer who was providing commentary at the MWAVE shootout - base-black cannot be fixed via end-user settings. Rather it requires a proper firmware update. Last week I got a response from Projector Reviews (Phil Jones) that stated that it is likely that a firmware update will be issued by Sony soon-ish. IF Sony does, then I think Sony will level the playing field between themselves and JVC. Right now, Sony has the brightness edge while JVC has the blackness edge. If Sony fixes base-black, I personally will buy the Sony. Both extremes matter quite a bit with certain content, as noted in these comments, and considering the cost I want both extremes functioning properly by Sony prior to replacing my 285es sony projector.
