TORNADOES lyrics
The clouds started forming at five o'clock pm
The funnel clouds touched down
five miles north of Russellville
Sirens were blowing, clouds spat rain
and as the things came threw, it sounded like a train
"It came without no warning" said Bobbi Jo McLean
She and husband Nolen always loved to watch the rain
It sucked him out the window, he ain't come home again
All she can remember is "It sounded like a train"
Pieces of that truck stop, litter up the highway, I been told
And I hear that missing trucker ended up in Kansas
(or maybe it was Oz).
The Nightmare Tour ended for my band and me
the night all the shit went down
A homecoming concert, the night the tornadoes hit my hometown.
The few who braved the weather were sucked out of the auditorium
I can still remember the sound of their applause in the rain
as it echoed through them storm clouds, I swear, It sounded like a train.
Patterson Hood / Drive-By Truckers / © Soul Dump Music (BMI)
For Chuck Tremblay / (Originally written for Adam's House Cat - November 1988)
Pianos - Isbell and Hood / Background Vocals - Jason Isbell and Clay Leverett
Their music beats any country or any music I have ever heard. Never heard anything like this and I love it.
I swear it sounded like a train. FUUUUUCK love this band - Juan South Africa
This song was on a mixtape my dad had, I miss that tape.
Today is April 27th 2022 and marks the 11th anniversary of the tornado super outbreak that hit my state of Alabama . So many people lost everything in the blink of an eye including life . Today to me is a sad reminder of how small we are and how quickly we can lose everything ,it's a reminder to take nothing we have for granted . There are forces out there much greater than we are. I remember this day as if it were yesterday and it was a very humbling experience to go through . I was living in a mobile home in Albertville Alabama at the time and had left . I wasn't sure if I would have a home to return to . I was blessed that my town was spared that day but a lot of people weren't so lucky so today , I take a moment of prayer and silence for those people who lost everything that day .
I was living scottsboro when it all happen my great aunt lived in albertville
@@lilanarchy7492 Ask her if she remembers the tornado that hit Albertville April 24th 2010 .It hit within a mile and a half of my house ,That was some scary shit .only place I had to take cover was an old concrete block building .As soon as the power went out ,I was like " ohh shit " grabbed my dogs and phone and took cover .
One of the best rock albums of the new millennium. Unmatched in every way. May be the best of this current space and time. What's better? The Dirty South lives and breathes....It cares not for charts or consultants or corporate radio. This is art and a damn good listening experience!
glenn taylor well said
Wow Man-You Said it 🌟👍👍
all she can remember is that it sounded like a train is one of my favorite lines ever
Clouds started forming, 5 o’clock pm. Funnel cloud touched down five miles north of Russellville.
Crazy true story, the storm that inspired this song, I was about 5 years old that day and my parents were being shown our new home by a realtor when my parents saw the funnel cloud go over our new home. I of course we too young to remember. A few minutes later Arnold's truck stop got detroyed

God I love this song
after the shit that went down in Alabama last night, I needed this song more than you might know.
DBT doesn't get enough cred for their chops.
They were on their way then getting credit till they came out with that political bulshit what that Ferguson's song
This is a song my musical soulmate turned me to! And it Instantly became one of a very few that just MAKE Sense!!!
not enough people know about this album, god I miss Jason Isbell being in Drive By Truckers
This is Patterson Hood singing
@@louisgigliotti1056 Yes, you’re correct, but perhaps the commentator is simply saying the dirty south, decoration day and a blessing and a curse were great because Isbell played guitar and contributed songs.
Almost every song is a fucking banger, one of the rare albums you can listen to from front to back
@@treday83 I wouldn't call the songs bangers but they sure are wonderful songs, they all inspire wonder. It's a hard thing to chase, much more important.
@@elijahmonroe1367 I would definitely call them all BANGERS
My favorite band ❤

Pieces of that truck stop littered the highway.....I've been told.....

Dig IT.
I'd love to tell the word about my Lakota vision, but I can't.
Only one man knows little of this vision. He's a marine, and he has been on a vision quest. That's why I tell him. Visions come naturally to me. God bless the Lakota Sioux.
The little engine that could.
Heather and kaley down in the basement tornado Brookfield mo 2023
only 11 likes WTF
In many cultures a tornado is a e tickets ride to ZION
I've listened to this song in a movie that I don't remember.
Please tell me if you guys know what the movie is...
The Duke of Hazzard, the Beginning was the movie I know of that has this song in it. IDBM might shed some light if you search them
BrittainDix Thank you so much! You are right.
Jason, is the lost trucker....
Obviously.
I went through this tornado, not as glamorous as the song , not fore me or the people that went through it
I hear more pain than glamour, but full sympathies either way.
Lafayette GA was only narrowly missed. Heart goes fully out to Alabama for that night.
Hi there,
I just came along your video. Seems you're into country music, so please have a look on my vids too. I'm sure you will love them.
Have a nice day!
Cheers,
Marc
Someone here because of Dukes of Hazzard?
Jean-Andre Sonnenschein yes
