I love how Youngblood anxiously gazes at the puck waiting for it to come to a rest on the ice as if he didn't already roof the puck past the goal line.
Sometimes it optical issue. Did it hit the crossbar ? The NHL/professional hockey rule the pass must be over the line completed in order to counted as a goal.
though some scenes are exaggerated to give it a dramatic effect( puck crossing the line, the fights and stickfights etc) the movie is accurate in how it portrays the life of young hockey players who play on canadian junior teams and what goes on during that time( the bus trips, the boarding houses, the hazing, trying to make the pro's). Yes I agree some things are exaggerated for effect, but from a hockey player perspective this movie is the most accurate out of all of them.
Rob is the man, what a great hockey movie, counting Mighty Ducks, slap shots, miracle, and MVP, there are only about a dozen hockey movies, Mystery Alaska too.
This and the mighty ducks where my favourite 90s street hockey in summer was great and plsying ea hockey on mega drive till the first disc condole came out with sega saturn nhl all star hockey
one of the best scenes in the movie. I just saw another hockey movie recently that Rob Lowe is in. It's a Bollywood film called Breakaway and he plays the coach of a Canadian Indian hockey team. It was hilarious and he did a good job in it. I definitely recommend checking it out.
its about a hockey played named Dean Youngblood, who dominates in his league, so he starts to play for a junior team in Canada, but its alot rougher, and he becomes really good friends with the captain who is takin out by a goon. The goon got cut from the team Youngblood plays on, Youngblood made it and the goon didnt. By the end of the movie he ends up becoming a man and going toe-to-toe with the goon and winning the fight, as the captain is out with at least a concussion.
This movie came to my mind when I was looking for my favourite ones. I STILL REMEMBER THE FINAL FIGHTING SCENE AND WONDER IS THE RULE OF ICE HOCKEY OR JUST ADDED TO ENTERTAIN OR REFLECT THE STRONG CHARACTER OF THE ACTOR i.e the Hero of the film
Greatest part of this movie for me was Miss McGill. I wanted to be a hockey player in her town so badly I almost cried. Damn, I still want to nail her today!
Yeah man, he went Shelf on this duster of a goalie with a straight stick, as soon as that puck hit the twine he should have been celebrating. It it hits the inside of the net its a goal. They probably tried to make it seem like it hit the bar and then bounced in, even if it came back out past the line its still a snipe.
It's a little-known fact that Johnny Utah and Bodhi played on the same Junior A Hockey team in the mid-80's before one quit and moved to CA to adopt the surfer lifestyle and the other left and joined the FBI.
The movie you're looking for is called "Rookies". I think it was a made for TV movie or something cause I can't find it anywhere. It used to air on Cable back in the early 90's. Dyson was played by Yannick Bisson. Some Canadian actor who was also in "Hockey Night".
I agree with you 100%. Youngblood is not Accurate and its not a great hockey movie. But........ hockey movies never get the hockey right. I'm just saying as far as hockey movies go it one of the better ones. It's also pretty damn funny.
@turfwerks1 Except the puck never hit the crossbar. It went past the crossbar, and into the net. And when the puck hits the ice the first time, it's clearly over the goal line.
Took the words out of my mouth. If they wanted maximum drama they should have made him shoot the crossbar first and then see which side the puck drops. And really , the goalie is a piece of shit to bite on that obvious fake slapper 😁 but hey it's still a nice movie moment.
@KrankesDasein I just watched this for the first time. I thought the exact same thing when I was watching it. Like for some reason it wouldn't have counted if it rolled back over the line. it killed the suspense
i don't know what you're talking about. You mean the actress Cynthia Gibb? She was one of the film's main stars. The coaches daughter and the main stars love interest.
One of the CLASSICS right here!!! Miss McGill is HOT, Sutton n Hewitt are krazy as fuck, Kelly Youngblood should have came back to the league, Chadwick should stick to coaching and not singing (San Francisco Bay)lol, And the Bombers' goalie mask is PRICELESS (they don't make masks like these anymore)!!!
Its really difficult to find a hockey film where the action is close to full speed, not slow ballet, and where the goal tender actually tends goal/challenges the shooter. Entertaining movie nonetheless...
The only realistic part of this sene was the shame the goalie had after giving it up. But I love Youngblood! I love hockey and this film is a classic for the ages. It does have some fine acting. The great Ed Lauter comes to mind. I will be watching this film until I no longer can, eh?
I downloaded the soundtrack for this movie a while ago and this piece of music was not on it, in fact a lot of the good instrumental music from the film is not featured, very disappointing.
I agree broskies. And the director of the movie was a hockey player. He should have known. But there are many flaws in this movie if you are a hockey player. You can tell. Maybe they could remake it with one of the guys from Miracle playing Deaner. Like the kid who played O'Callahan. Just an idea.
Where can I find this song by William Orbit? The beginning song is “Silent Signals” from the “Strange Cargo” album, but I can’t find the song where it kicks in when he starts the penalty shot. Any help?
What was the name of the hockey movie from the late 80' or early 90's where the minor leage player bangs the coaches daughter and gets benched and fights his own teammate, he eventualy scores the game winning goal in the final game.
Awesome movie. Only criticism - Rob Lowe really should have worked on his skating as much as Swayze did... ....Lowe skated like he had a broomstick up his Butt. What an athlete Swayze was though.
Lol it was painfully obvious to all hockey people playing and watching that there was no need to wait for the puck to settle lol
😂 tucked it in!
Give him a break..... He didn't know the rules.🤤
Fun fact throughout this whole movie the players had to play in slow-motion. Masterful piece of acting by these actors.
rob lowes best movie ever
i used too love this as a kid,,,im a hockey player but now retired
Coach is like , " lets get this game over so i can go help Paul Kersey wipe out a drug gang!"
I understood this reference.
What an amazing goalie mask.
I love how the crowd is like a public library before the one guy sits up and cheers him on

RIP to you Peter Zezel .. others in the film with NHL experience are Eric Nesterenko and Steve Thomas
0:39 I've always loved how intimidating that goalie was in his mask with his serial killer eyes.
I know right his Aura & eyes & energy make him a total badass ...scares the 💩 outta me 😂😂😂😂😂
Was wicked

Just watched this movie on encore. Funny movie with all the classic 80's moments.
Tea with miss mcgill!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
@@jeffreyadams8345: She do it to me, last year! Eh?
Watching in 2021 this is the best final scene ina hockey movie I've seen aside from MAYBE goon
I never understood the moment of suspense while the puck was bouncing on the ice; it was a goal the moment he shelved it.
Agreed
Ultra slowdown
Good point
Me too
the ref has to see it. no play back or anything.
Ted Reeves arena Toronto , i remember watching this movie in grade 6, time sure does fly.

The most exciting moment in Hockey.
Great movie!!! Just occured to me, Dean Youngblood #10 (Guy Lafleur).
This movie was originally called “Dalton - From Junior Hockey to the Double Duce”. Pain don’t hurt.
cool ass goalie mask, one of the best
rob lowe is beautiful.
one of the best sports movies of all time!
This is a really underrated movie. I mean the girls love it of course....and so do I!!!!
Greatest part of this movie for me was Miss McGill. I wanted to be a hockey player in her town so badly I almost cried. Damn, I still want to nail her today!
I live that moment.
I started playing hockey as a kid because of this movie.
Rest Easy Peter Zezel...
You surely mean Dean Youngblood 🙂Great soundtrack! They should do a remake with Rob playing Coach!
Goalies pads are so small! Nowadays you wouldnt see the net... love it!

Rob Lowe: I'm too hot....Hot damn
Game winning goal

Best goalie mask, ever.
I agree with you 100%. Youngblood is not Accurate and its not a great hockey movie. But........ hockey movies never get the hockey right. I'm just saying as far as hockey movies go it one of the better ones. It's also pretty damn funny.

Love this movie
Hahaha when I was a kid I thought that goalie mask was the scariest thing ever!
This scene always bothered me waiting for the puck to settle. You shelfed it, its a goal already

AWESOME!!!!
Hokejista, který neviděl film Youngblood, jakoby nebyl :-)))
The other team's uniform very closely resembles that of the Boston Bruins -- black and gold with B on front. Cool!
Home team uniform resembles the Red Wings with the "wings" on it.
@CucciCadet That's a Replica of Gary Bromley's Mask from 1979, probably one of my all-time favorite masks.
good hockey movie!
All I have to say is: WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
NOT SIMMONS. I just randomly search old Rob Lowe hockey videos on youtube on Thursday nights.
Youngblood = Rob Shremp, hot shot American who can score at the Jr. level but never make the bigs!!

@KrankesDasein its like in mighty ducks 2, everyone waited for julie to put the puck down, well, it obviously wasnt in the net!
Where can I find this song by William Orbit? The beginning song is “Silent Signals” from the “Strange Cargo” album, but I can’t find the song where it kicks in when he starts the penalty shot. Any help?
GOLD CANADA GOLD!!!!!
That goalie mask gave me nightmares!!!
Wow, I didn't know Zezel died.

You mean that was a stunt double they used for all those fancy moves?
I read that Rob Lowe had 6 months to learn to ice skate for the movie Youngblood.....Looked good for a guy that just learned.....
Sent by Simmons.
Got ya Boston. Have a nice week.
