I'd like to see a rendition of it around Justinian's time as well, it'd be rough around the edges with some broken places here and there and show signs of past attacks and clear decline but still a place worthy of the inspiration and respect it still inspired at the time. I can imagine some pagan structures converted to churches while others are abandoned, and Ostrogothic banners flowing next to Imperial banners. And then the aftermath of Justinian's reconquest, which caused much damage to the city and its infrastructure, broken aqueducts and such. And then fast forwarding into the later centuries where it'd still be recognizable but empty, before most of the great marble monuments and edifices went into the late medieval lime kilns and other materials went to build the new St. Peter's, Barberini, and so on.
