  • In this episode, Amy Balsters of The Floral Coach demonstrates how to use a floral design basic, floral tape!
    You can find floral tape and stakes to practice with here:
    Floral Tape (not on Amazon) The types sold on Amazon don't seem to hold flowers well so I prefer finding Floralife tape through a floral wholesaler website like this one: rb.gy/im7bkk
    Wooden Floral Dowels: amzn.to/3SOq0Ae

    Thank you for sharing this, I've never had to wrap long stems/ wires, but if I do I will definitely refer back to your video

    So helpful! I've tried it before and it just wouldn't stick. I think I both under and over pulled. Going to go try again!❤
    UPDATE: Tried again, using 16 gauge wire to make stems for fake flowers. Worked beautifully. It looks, feels, and stays on better than the ready made stems for sale. First one was super slow. Probably took 5 minutes but by the time I was on my 20th it took 30 seconds. If I go faster than that it creates gaps or unravels a but in the center and I have to add more to fill it in. I'm sure that will improve with time. My hands, especially my thumbs, were absolutely sore afterwards.

    Floral tape is made of crepe paper with wax on it. An you can stretch it as you you wrapped the wire as you go instead of stretching it before going down the wire. Also keep constant pressure on it as you wrap the tape, you will get a smoother look and won't bunch up. Keep gentle pressure on it all the way down.

    Once again, I love how you're breaking down the basics. I feel like my taping is decent - definitely not bunching and falling off, but also definitely not quite as tight and quickly accomplished as this technique. Def going to up my taping game. :-)

      I'm facing the same issue at the moment. Were you able to figure out if the tape is proper and okay to use?

    • @TheFloralCoach
      @TheFloralCoach  Před 4 lety +1

      @@celeste.1995 The tape may be old, that is the only time I have seen that issue or it is a poor quality company. I would recommend getting it from a floral wholesaler. The tape won't be overly sticky like a normal scotch tape of something with adhesive. It is only a little tacky, and the way it sticks to itself is in the technique shown above. I hope that helps! I teach a much more in depth online class on this here: www.skillshare.com/classes/Flower-Power-Creating-Your-Own-Flower-Crown/49003328?via=user-profile

      Exactly! The method is not effective! There is another newer tape that would work and I have another video for Oasis Bind-It tape!
