    I agree. I live in Florida where there’s a three day wait to buy a firearm unless you have a carry permit. I have a carry permit so I walked out of the store that day with my CZ Scorpion 3 + Pistol but to buy a muffler for my Scorpion it took 9 months & $200 tax…how does that make any sense? Seriously nine months for a gun muffler?

    @davidwatson1200 Před 3 lety +1

    I'm looking at a very similar handguard/barrel/suppressor setup vs the IA integrated can. There's a lot of considerations for me with the suppressor options, one of them being... what kind of heat buildup do you get on the handguard with this setup?...is it negligible? I'm assuming it isn't much since you didn't mention it and there doesn't seem to be much contact between the can and the handguard, but I'd like to know you experience on that. The IA integrated suppressor I'm looking at gets a considerable amount of heat, necessitating a heat shield for it, which they do have but it blocks the MLOK slots and changes the overall look of the handguard... so I'm considering a K barrel swap and a k can like yours to tuck it in the handguard as much as possible...my goal being to keep the Scorpion as compact as possible.

    • @gonefarafield2351
      @gonefarafield2351  Před 3 lety +3

      The heat build up is negligible on my setup. With that being said, there are some things to consider. I got this can because I wanted it to look exactly what I wanted in my mind. The integrally suppressed options are too futuristic and blocky looking for me. Deadair said there was enough clearance using this handguard, and technically there is, but it fits in there so snugly that a tiny bit of the finish scraped off putting it in. I'm glad I have a 3 lug because I would be worried about turning it a lot to thread it in. I was worried as it heated up that it would expand and break against the handguard, but I looked at it after a few magazines and it doesn't look like there's any stress on it at all. Another option is the omega 9k. That has a smaller diameter, but it's longer (at least compared to my can in the K configuration). I wanted my can to be as fat and short as possible coming from the handguard, and I think it turned out pretty good. The only thing I would change is if someone manufactured a rubber tube handguard like the MP5sd has. If someone started 3d printing that for the scorpion I'd be all over it.

      @gonefarafield2351  Před rokem

      @@kristhibodeaux9524 Extremely. They're essentially the same width. It would have been harder to have standard threads. I have a 3 lug adapter and that helped, because twisting it just to put it on the 3 lug caused a little scuffing on the finish. If you had to thread onto normal threads I would try wrapping it in wax paper or teflon house wrap, although that might make it too wide. I haven't noticed problems getting it hot, but I imagine the expansion makes it impossible to take out until it's cooled down. Looks awesome though :)

    Question please? How much clearance do you have inside that handguard with the Wolf? Is there any contact with the can? BTW; that can is not even close to loud, even in shorty mode. Are you shooting standard 9mm or subsonic? Pick up some 147gr subs, it's movie quiet!

    • @gonefarafield2351
      @gonefarafield2351  Před 3 lety

      Sorry Bob, I must have missed your comment. Yes there is contact with the can on the handguard. I'm glad I got a 3 lug adapter for this because when you put it in, twisting it will scratch off a tiny bit of the finish. But even when the can heats up a bunch, I haven't noticed it expanding at all, so it fits just barely. If the can and the handguard didn't have a finish, they probably wouldn't touch. Since there's so little contact, the handguard stays perfectly cool after shooting 3 mags. This was the fattest handguard I saw for the scorpion, that's why I went with it. I'm guessing if I shot this can in the longer configuration there would be more heat. The subsonics I shoot in this are handloads of mine, using 158 grain berrys plated .357 sized down to .356. and 4.4 grains power pistol

  • @chasefarber
    @chasefarber Před 2 lety +1

    Hello, my understanding was that the scorpion has 16 foreign parts on the list and you need to get that down to 10. So replacing 6 of them gets you 922r compliant. Does that sound right? I just want to be compliant to the best of my knowledge.

    • @gonefarafield2351
      @gonefarafield2351  Před 2 lety +1

      If you google 'cz scorpion 922R compliance kit' you can see what they include in their kit to make it compliant. Some of it is silly as you can imagine- like the base plates of the magazines counting as an American part. That'll get you compliant. The ATF doesn't mess around. My CZ is so custom now it's only the receiver that's foreign at this point. I find it crazy that their agents can sleep at night by prosecuting those who forget to put a domestic base plate on their magazine. "Hmm, looks like this person had 11 foreign parts on this gun- better lock them up with someone who robbed a bank." *facepalm* Thanks for watching!

    • @bretak74
      @bretak74 Před rokem

      One additional thing to remember about 922(r) is that there is no such thing as a 922(r) compliant rifle. 922(r) only regulates assembly. You can't violate it when assembling the rifle. Possessing a rifle that has more than ten of the listed foreign parts is perfectly legal.

    • @chasefarber
      @chasefarber Před rokem

    • @bretak74
      @bretak74 Před rokem

      I read the law the ATF’s FAQ regarding 922(r). The law doesn’t state that it’s illegal to possess a rifle with more than 10 of the listed foreign parts. It states that it’s illegal to assemble a rifle using more than 10 of the listed foreign parts. In order to get a conviction, they’d have to prove that you assembled the rifle, not merely that you possessed it. If you buy a pistol and then later possess it as a rifle, then it’s likely they can make the cases that you assembled the rifle. However, if you buy a rifle from someone that has more than ten of the listed foreign pats, it’s perfectly legal. I bought it that way would be a perfect defense.

      There is more than what cwgraham7 said, and it's important to follow the rules exactly since the ATF is completely rigid in their enforcement. If you use a brace, it stays a pistol because it's designed and intended to be fired with one hand. But if you add a vertical foregrip it's no longer designed and intended to be fired with one hand. Whether you shoot it with one hand is up to you, but you should know that the government is salivating to get rid of braces right now.
