      That’s a message many people should follow. Too many people these days are focused on lifting heavy weights rather than improving their cardiovascular fitness. Especially as you get older. Heavy lifting puts massive stress on the body and there is very little evidence that increased muscle mass does anything for overall health and may even shorten life expectancy.

      Because not everyone has the same goals. Personally my goal is to have good condition/endurance as I play soccer almost every Friday and Sunday, so I gotta be able to do sprints consistently for at least 90 minutes 🤷🏼‍♂️ I still lift but it’s not my MAIN focus to lift heavy.

      I personally do cardio before toning muscles. The cardio gets me pumped up and ready for more. But I personally at my best do 15 minutes cardio before my muscle training and then 15 minutes after. So total 30 minutes cardio which is the perfect amount. I personally do it that way. It also allows you to go harder by breaking your cardio down in sessions instead of burning yourself out

    Why would anyone who isn’t a professional bodybuilder want to prioritise weight training? There is absolutely no correlation between muscle mass and longevity of life expectancy. There is however a clear and well studied link between cardiovascular health and a higher life expectancy. I feel that everyone should focus on a good cardiovascular fitness before trying to get “jacked” if they are aiming for a healthy body. Would say “it’s just my opinion” but it’s actually just a fact

  • @tjwillis47
    @tjwillis47 Před 2 lety +3

    Isn't this all subjective based off the definition of cardio? If someone jumps on a treadmill and walks for 10 minutes at 3 mph on a level 9 incline, depending on their fitness, their heart rate may not get over 140. So a relatively low heart rate. Are we considering this cardio? Or when you say cardio are you referring to running to miles or doing tabata or something like that?

    • @fitnfabceleb

    • @ozymandias6644
      @ozymandias6644 Před 2 lety +5

      If you lift before cardio, your body utilizes glycogen first, which is energy derived from whatever you've had during the whole day, and when you're done lifting you should do cardio, which will now derive energy from excess fat that you may have. Since I was following the exact same routine for last 2 months, I have managed to lose 12 kgs, although gains have not been as good as I wanted them to be, but it's still good, considering my primary goal was fat loss.
