  • After some time, road bikes may look a little worse for wear and the value in them may be hard to see, however, by following some simple techniques, they can restored to their former glory. In this video, Sam Gupta saves a Trek 1.2 road bike and goes through the entire process of restoring the frame and then building it back up to once again to be fully useable.

    Not usually a fan of flat bars but I love the look of this bike. I recently converted an old flat bar hybrid in to a drop bar gravel bike and then, even more controversially, I converted an old 90s MTB in to a drop bar gravel for my buddy! Both of them work like a charm and are so much fun to ride!

    Great bike build video. Love this kind of video… and the spirit of saving an old bike.

    I really like how people on the internet make simple jobs look like rocket science. BTW it would have been much better to clear the seat tube before fitting the BB, this way you will avoid all the junk dropping on top of it ;)

    Lol! That’s pretty much my bike! Junk? The cheek of it! Mine is a Trek 1.5 2008, but the frame and seat post are the only original parts now. Full Ultegra 6800, Vision wheels (for the moment) and a mix of 3T and FSA for the cockpit and a fabric saddle. The only downside is the limited tyre clearance. Replacing with like for like basic bike now would be £2k?! Bonkers! I’ll stick with this until the planets align and another fabulous long term runner takes my fancy. I’m sure I can hear a Fairlight calling…

    I garbage picked a 62cm Bianchi Brava, made in Italy, 1980's. Why would you put that on the tree lawn? I built it up and it was great just too big for me. I should have just sold it, I sold what I built for what I paid for parts, but the new owner was thrilled to have it.

    Putting in the headset with the frame clamped in a bike stand could have damaged the tubes if you got to torquing on those tools

  • @chinabicycle
    @chinabicycle Před 11 měsíci +2

    here I look and I don't understand, it seems like a good workshop, but why didn't they wash the frame first, and then they started installing the bottom bracket, you can see a lot of dirt on the frame.

    Interesting decision to go flat bar. I would have kept drops if only because they are narrower for squeezing through traffic. Fancy pub bike 👍

    Mazing how many in the comments have never heard of English and Continental brake lever placement. English is right front, continental is left front and neither are "wrong"....
