      Great to hear, let me know if there is anything else you would like to see as I am highly qualified for all Rockwell tech issues.

      I will keep that in mind. Thanks. I have been using RS Logix 5000 software for a year now at work. The only training I have received is on the job and college (three years ago RSLogix 500). So, I will for sure watch your videos and learn as much as I can. Thanks again

    How much is the emulator? And how much does a license for it cost?

    • @ShaneWelcher
      @ShaneWelcher  Před 2 lety

      The best prices are either at your local vendor & maybe you could even get them for free.
      I would start there.
      Also, you can get it from online at

    Do you prefer Tag Aliasing or IO mapping in different subroutine?
    Because in case of mapping Analog signals we can limit Low (20mA) values using comparators.

    • @ShaneWelcher
      @ShaneWelcher  Před 5 lety

      They are completely different in uses so I am not sure what you mean.
      Alias tags are for anything
      I/O Alias is for I/O linking to the tag.

    So in a nutshell, why even have Controller Tags and Program tags. I believe I'm having this Problem when looking for tags to use in my DDE. Some tags I see and some I don't, but they're in the same logic rung. Is there any way to get around this?

    • @ShaneWelcher
      @ShaneWelcher  Před 7 lety +1

      Is everything setup in your topic configuration?
      Depending on which version of software you are using as well could help explain things a little better.
      Thanks,
      Shane

    • @showshocka3k
      @showshocka3k Před 7 lety +1

      Yes, My topic Config is all set up. Like I said I see some tags but not others and they're all in the same routine. Seems that whatever the name of the routine is, and This might sound odd but When I do go to my Routine names under my Controller's name in OPC/DDE, at the drop down whatever the name of the Routine name is all I see are only all the alphabets names that is the same as what the Routine begins with, for example, "American Move" I see all "A's" "Fat Tuesdays" I see nothing but all T's, "Mini Me" I See only the M's or in other words only the tags in that routine that begins with the Routine's same first letter. Crazy!

      This sounds like an issue with RSLinx, what version are you running.
      3.60 or 2.9
      If younger than that then it is but it also could be an issue with factory talk as well.
      I assume you are trying to nap some tags to an ME station or an SE station.
      If so then please verify that you have good conductivity to between your PC and the network.
      I am sure you have tried a folder update regularly right?
      Sorry for the delayed response, I just got off work.

      Rslinx 2.54 Single Node - FTAM 4.01and for my Ms Excel DDE

      showshocka3k
      Wow, still using the old technology I see. To be honest it could have something to do with that version of RSLinx.
      I would try 2.59 if possible but it could be the version of the excel file or macros on the excel file.
      Have you tried others computers?
      Or made sure the excel file is good?
      Thanks,
      Shane

    Why not keep it simple like with RSlogix 500??? Are you kidding me??? Rockwell really went too far to over complicate and confuse engineers and technicians with all this stupid tasks ordeal on the 5000 version. No largest factory or machine or process in the world would ever use all those many non sense tasks, over task, over program, over task, over tags, over alias, over task, over routine, over etc options in a ladder program!

    • @ShaneWelcher
      @ShaneWelcher  Před 4 lety

      First of all, thanks for the comment.
      Next, this is not complicated. There are plenty of processes & machines everywhere that use all four languages of programming to make the machine or process running it's best.
      Not sure where you work but the world runs off more complicated stuff than this.
      This is simple

    • @ShaneWelcher
      @ShaneWelcher  Před 4 lety

      My friend, if you think this is complicated then this might not be the career for you.
      Although, if you try then you can accomplish anything but it's up to you to try.
      I hope the best for you

      @@ShaneWelcherThanks for your reply. I work for Amazon in the Automation department. I'm been programming several PLC brands for over 15 years now. It is complicated. Is not your fault my friend. All good.

      @@johnboon5330 The best method is always to keep things user friendly for the operators which often ends up being slightly more complicated for us but in the long run, saves us tons of time by having a properly built machine.
