    I add weight to the grip by drilling a hole in the trap door or end (if you have no trap door) and turning a screw through the hole-for more weight, longer screws or a few washers under the screw head

    Hey Jonas, have you ever tried counter balancing head weight with lead instead of buttcap or pallet at above the grip finishing tape on the synthetic / leather of the frame? I wrap the lead in two rows around the racquet so the overgrip doesn't have any noticeable bump.
    Finding it easier just to tweak and test and wonder if I'm altering anything of the racquet by doing this opposed to the other two placement locations.
    Love the videos!

    Hi Jonas. As always great video. I am not sure if flaring a buttcap can be considered to be racket customizatiom, but it can definitely change the feel of the racket. In my case I had to do it for my Fischer pro classic 98 (retro), because in stock you can not even feel that buttcap is there.

    Hey Jonas,
    Happy New Year from Sydney, enjoy watching your videos! Have a question about lead placement, is there any difference to swingweight or whippiness of the racquet when you add lead to the four faces of the beam at 3 & 9, versus adding the same amount of lead but on diagonally opposite faces instead? E.g 4 x 1 gram strips on the four faces versus 2 x 2 gram strips on the diagonally opposite faces at 3 & 9. To me the four strips feels more sluggish but I'm wondering if there's an actual effect there. Thanks!

    Hello Tennisnerd and thank you for the great material.
    I have 2 questions for you and please if you (or any other) have the time to answer i will very much appreiciate it.
    Trying to figure out what the "power" rating of a tennis racket means i have this question:
    In a hypothetical scenario where ALL variables are same (incoming ball's speed, hight, spin, position etc. and our as hitters swingpath, force, acceleration...etc) if we hit this ball with a racket that has a high power rating and with a racket that has a low power rating (rating as given from racket reviews e.g tennis warehouse) what will the result be? Wil we hit the same spot but with a faster ball with high power racket or will we hot the ball longer and deeper? Or maybe both?
    Second question refers to strings and string tention. In the same scenario but this time we hit with the same racket and the only differentiated variable is string tention. Lower tention means more "power" right? Will this "more power" send the ball back faster on the same spot or deeper? Or both? Remember all other variable are exactly the same!! Thank you in advance!!!

    Love your videos, they have helped me on my equipment journey. I currently use a Yonex Ezone 98 Tour and want to increase the static weight/swing weight without changing the balance. I want to add 8 grams of lead to the inside of the throat to get it up to 340 grams/12 ounces. I’ve heard that you only want to add a few grams to the throat area, do you think that is too much to add to just the throat?
    FYI I am a 24 year old player with two handed backhand. Not like a super strong guy but I think I can handle 12 ounces.

    @alfandosavant4639 Před 3 lety +2

    How do you know the 3&9 weight you add to your racquet is enough? I want a more stable racket, so adding at 3&9 makes sense. But i never feel enough about the stability, but the next day i'd feel too sluggish. Any tips?
    Also, have you ever felt how concentrated or not the lead would feel very different. For example, i try to put 4gr at 12, spreading it evenly. It makes the string bed hard/stiff (lacks of trampoline effect), less plow. Then i try different method, putting 2gr at first, and then double the lead, so in total it's 4gr, but concentrated in the middle of 12. With this, i feel it's really good, feel the trampoline effect very pronounced.

    • @Fred_P
      @Fred_P Před 3 lety

      Sorry but adding lead doesn't affect the stiffness of the string bed. If you add one long strip instead of two shorter on top of each other it will increase the twist weight of the racquet more, that's the only difference.
      If you don't like that, it means that you prefer a lower twist weight, which means a more maneuverable racquet.

    I am thinking of adding a leather grip to my ezone 98 2020. I know is going to make it head lighter but heavier overall.Mi question is. Adding overall. Leather grip would make the raquet more or less maneuverable? I am a dobles serv an volley player making the raquet more difficult to maneuver won't help. Also does the raquet lose stability if you add a leather grip? Thanks.

    • @Fred_P
      @Fred_P Před 3 lety +1

      Adding a leather grip will not make a huge difference in maneuverability. It can make it feel a bit more maneuverable due to making the balance more head light. Adding any weight never lowers the stability, adding it in the handle doesn't make a huge difference but it can only help, even if just slightly.

    Hi man, I just wanted to point out that the actual peel off strip at the back of the lead tape actually weighs 0.1 of a gram in a 4 inch lead tape strip. Therefore you're going to have to measure the strip 4.4 inches in order for it to be 1 gram. It may not make any difference when you're only adding 2 grams but when you're adding 6 to 10 grams here and there, it does. Regards, Carlos.

    I like the idea but adding weight at 10 or 12 Will NOT increase spin. Making your racquet more headlight by injecting silicone may slightly improve spin with a more whippy feel, but in the end it depends on your technique. Also keep in mind that most professionals have a balance of at least 6 points headlight or 3/4 inch headlight. Finally, static weight is a great way to improve power. It is still maneuverable from the headlight balance but improves the power and stability. Just my 10 cents cuz I don't agree with all this
