My Daddy always said "the older I get, the smarter my parents are".
Never put your key to happiness in someone else's pocket.
Love this
Corie did an excellent job on her video! I understand about getting to smell Miss Cindy on the sunglasses. When my husband passed suddenly, in the days that followed, I was so upset that I'd done all the laundry and had nothing that smelled like him. The saving grace was his truck, and I'd go sit in it for awhile sometimes. It was bittersweet, but at the same time, a great comfort.
Bless you Sandy!! Thank you for sharing!!
My husband, who passed away many years ago, used to say - Don’t trouble trouble till trouble troubles you.
Love that one!!
Girl that’s a good one too .. wow
I've always liked the saying, "A journey of a thousand miles, starts with the first step". ❤️🙏
I love the saying
I’d rather live for God and die to find out there isn’t one than to not live for God and die to find out there is one.
Today, I have memories of when my son was a chinook pilot in Iraq and Afghanistan. Once when he was on a mission in Iraq, his best friend was flying a chinook alongside him. A rocket hit his friends copter and all aboard were killed. So, this Memorial Day has great significance for me. On one hand I'm grateful that my son survived and is a colonel today. On the other hand, I grieve for those mothers and fathers who lost their child.
I'm sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
😢
I'm so grateful for those who gave all for our country. I too pray for their families!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
🙏♥️🙏Being a military family I share your grief for those who lost their loved ones. Love to those who served our country with all they could give. Their lives. Pray for peace always. 😢
@@CelebratingAppalachia , I had a Cousin who was Killed in Vietnam.
@@jackieellenbarnes1268 I'm so sorry. I'm thankful for his service and so wished he had made it home.
My granny Dyar passed away in 1986, when my oldest daughter was only four months old. One of her most used adages was, “ if wishes were horses, beggars would ride”. My grandpa Dyar said, “ waiting broke the wagon wheel”. I absolutely love those old pearls of wisdom from the elders!
I was born a Dyer. We might be kin.
As a girl when I wanted something we could not afford my mom would say "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride". Hated it!
My daddy died in 1981 and I’ve always said he would not have believed people had cell phones . We had a land line in the house and he hated it. Back then, we had party lines and all the older women in the neighborhood would gossip on the phone. It just burned him up!😂 If you ever got or made a call, he expected it to be less than a minute. 😂. He’d say “ say your piece and get off the phone “. He felt it was like an invasion of privacy. People in his day always came by or sent word or news came by mail. This is why he wouldn’t believe people carrying a phone around every minute. I sure have missed him. He was a good man and daddy to us. ❤. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
It’s harder on people when they demand the world go unchanged. My Parents came from a generation born in the second decade of the 1900s. They were positive they already knew everything worth knowing from their youth. Very much held to so many ideas and notions of their times. It wasn’t amusing. My brother bought them a microwave oven within a few years of those being sold. You would have thought he sent them a box of rattlesnakes the way they carried on. Tom lived out of state and they swore they wanted him to come get lt. Our cousin went over, set the microwave up and showed them how to use it. They eventually used it.
I feel the same way had a "party line" for a couple of months, cut it off because of the gossip 😢. I do long for the days of going to the store or for a walk & not taking a phone with.😂❤
I remember party lines well.😂

Thank you for sharing about your sweet daddy 😊
One of my favorite quote of wisdom is "The best reward for a job well done is having done it!".
We were awakened at 3:35 am. last night by my husband's cell phone with a warning that we had a tornado in our area. We got up and turned on the news. We waited for about 20 minutes and then went back to bed. Prayers for those that got hit by the tornadoes, lost loved ones, and had damage to homes.
My beautiful father told me this long ago. Only fools and dead men never change their minds! I don't want you to be either of those! He also said nothing in this world is perfect, only God is!
Even fruit when it reaches perfection, begins to rot! Such a wise man! We were surely blessed by him!
Love that!!
My great-grandma from Wilkesboro NC was a master seamstress and passed down this saying to my grandma who passed it to me: Every task great or small, do it well or not at all.
And we can add this to your great- grandmother’s saying. “ Every task both great or small, do it well or not at all, because we work to honor God.”
Good morning Tipper, my Father always said " be careful how you act when in public, remember who you are, don't ever disrespect your name
My late (Navy vet) Daddy told my 3 sisters and me that so many times. My sister's baby grandson carries his family name, Anderson, as his first name. Take care!
My husband is from Rockholds, KY and he has some sweet sayings. When our daughter was about 4 years old she ask in the spring of the year if she could go barefoot outside. Her dad told her that she could go barefoot when she saw a butterfly. Well the very next day we were outside and she saw a butterfly. It wasn’t that warm that day. My husband looked, saw the butterfly and instantly said… those d… yankee butterflies!
Thank you each and everyone that has kept us free God bless
Peace and Blessings to everyone on this sacred holiday!!!! We have so many to give thanks to for our freedoms!!!
So true!!
Amen
My Daughter and her family just got back from vacation to Tennessee at Pigeon Forge. They rode the train thru the Smoky mountains over into North Carolina. There was an elderly man, in his eighties on the train. He told them the correct way to pronounce Appalacia, "Apple at cha" !!! They loved their ride, a fun time.
😂😂😂 that’s funny and easy to remember has less syllables than the real pronunciation A pa La she a
Travis Tritt is an awesome singer, love his music. I grew up with country music and loved all of it. 🤗🩷
In a time when common sense seems to be in short supply, I realize that these phrases and quotes you share are common sense that was shared by our ancestors. I think many times these quotes follow godly advice.
Hi All! Still stormy in New Hampshire. Thankful to be safe, thankful for all those who bravely died for our freedom this Memorial Day.
Well said! Thank you!
This was great Tipper. Such wisdom in those old sayings. Thanks for sharing them with us. Be well & take care.
Travis Tritt! It’s A Great Day To Be Alive!
A couple saying’s that I use are “Better to have it and not need it than to need to and not have it.” It’s one our oldest grandson uses all the time. The other is “Don’t sweat the stuff you don’t have any control over.” Thanks for all the enjoyable videos.
Both good ones! Thank you 😊
"If horses were wishes, beggars would ride." One of my grandmother's favorite sayings. I'd wish (as a child) I had something and that would be her reply .
Very stormy here in North Georgia this morning as well. My daddy always told my sister and I wherever we didn't finish a task or chore "Never enough time to do it right the first time, but plenty of time to have to do it over a second time..." I find that exact phrase falling out of my mouth with my kids now, hopefully they will carry it on with their kids one day!
Oh my goodness, I say the same to my boys and grandsons!
Love that so much!
Had a rough weather night. Prayers for all the people in the worst of it all. 🙏 Good morning to you and God bless us all. ✝️🙂🙋
We are in our early sixties and recently moved permanently to our family farm. We have said many times - if granny knew we were now paying for water (hooked up to county water) and dirt (for a new barn build) she would be so upset. She could be the most frugal woman I ever knew. 💕
I’m from Cherokee County South Carolina. We had thunderstorms most of the night and rain early morning. By noon the sun came out and it was a lovely day. Prayers for Granny and her health, Corie and her soon delivery and of course Katie and her precious baby. Love watching you all!
Granny was the prettiest thing in the video. Corie was beautiful as well
You relating the story from Brenda about the flea was the best laugh Iv’e had in awhile. Prayers and favor for Corie and her imminent delivery.
I'm going to save Corie's video May in the Mountain to watch any time I want because it is so beautiful and calming. Granny does look so good I wondered if that part was filmed before she was in the hospital. Love the jacket she made and was wearing. Also enjoyed Jim Casada quoting poems and speaking about May at the end. I agree this one needs an award of some kind.
We've had really bad storms here in Dallas/ Spencer Mtn.N.C area. We had two tornadoes within 10 miles of my house the weekend before my Mother's day trip to Maggie Valley. I was blessed just to have lost power and a few groceries for a day. I burned my oil lamp, used coolers.. Just being content with what I needed to deal with. I always tell my loved ones not to worry about something that might never happen. And think about the stress you're putting your body and mind through. I am so appreciative of the great wisdom that continues to be handed down throughout generations. Granny looked great in the Pressley girls video. Y'all have a wonderful day, as we remember those who gave their lives for the freedom 🇺🇲 we still have today. Most of all I'm thankful to God 🙏 The ultimate undeserving freedom I have been given through his Son Jesus Christ 🙏 Praying and Blessed! 🤗🙏💕🇺🇲
So true! Thank you 😊
One of the best words of wisdom I've had is from the Lord "Nobody is putting you under pressure but yourself ". I've had to remind myself of that many times.
Rained all day here yesterday in Illinois. Loved it❤️. “ this too shall pass” is my favorite pearl of wisdom, hang tight to those wonderful moments and let the not so wonderful ones pass on by. Thank you for sharing updates Tipper and again to everyone out there for teaching me something new every day. God bless everyone. ❤
Tipper, when we were kids , fretting about something, my mother would say , “In 100 years, you’ll never know!” I still think of those words ! Blessings to all! Mary G
My mother always told me 'don't wish your life away' too.
Blessed Memorial Day to you all. My mom always said, If you can't say something nice. Don't say anything at all.
Missed the live again. I must have been in my garden. We had bad storms late last night. Happy Memorial Day to all and thankful for those who served and remembering the sacrifice of all those who served for freedom. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good day ya'll! One of my favorite sayings is "now don't go borrowin' trouble." Love and prayers 🙏🏽
I love you granny! ❤ Seattle kin
Thank you Lisa!
Good morning! Nice blue skies here in CO, 79 today. Have a nice Memorial Day. God bless our military. Thank you for your service.
My mom used to say. SLOW AS MOLASSES IN JANUARY
Stormy here through the night and yesterday. The 500 Race was even delayed because of rain. So thankful for the rain....Let Matt know the heat and humidity here in Indiana has been yucky!!!! I hate the heat too!!!!
Let Fall come as soon as gardening season is over....❤😊
So good to see you today Tipper!
God bless you & your family...
Happy Monday morning, thank you for reading all the words of wisdom, so many hit me just right today 😊 so glad Granny felt good enough to get her hair done! As a hairdresser, I know how much it means to have your hair back to normal ❤
Enjoy ALL your posts, my grandpa always told us, hope you always have everything you need and just some of the things you want. He lead our choir at church, until his health no longer let him, about 30 years. Love to listen to your family sing. Continued prayers for granny and you ALL
Here in Dexter Missouri we are just getting our power back on today. Had a tornado hit us recently.
There were so many huge trees torn apart and totally demolished. A few
Homes and churches had a bit of damage. We had no damage but the home next door had her electric pole twisted in half and the electric box outside was ripped completely out and off the house. We will continue praying for all those who need it. God bless your family. Keep the videos coming.
I'm so sorry for all that damage. I pray for all those who are suffering from it.
Im watching ❤ 2 days late been with 2 youngest g babes ❤ I was in heaven ❤️ Pray you all are safe we were all ok as well . 🙏🙏🙏🙏
We had bad storms and wind and a tree went down, here in our Shenandoah Valley.
My Mom used to say: "A foolish promise is better broken than kept". That has made me think before promising things, that I won't be able to accomplish.
I hope everyone did come through all that terrible weather safely! Something else I find myself compelled to say to you, Tipper is the fact your videos and the ones from your girls share brings a beautiful, calm spot to all of us. With a world filled with strife and uncertainty these days, these videos manage to shove all of that aside for a little while. My sister and I so look forward to those! We were talking just last night about the fact you all believe in God! There's no awful drama in your videos, no foul language, stories about times gone by that shoot us right back to the days when we were little and life was simpler, the unique vocabulary we use around here, wise old sayings. This all may sound so corny, but you remind us that a body doesn't have to be rich with money or material things. Just be grateful for the little things so many of us forget about. The most important things are to carry joy in our hearts, let go of those things that are negative and praise God for all His true bounty! Thank you so much!! 🥰
You are so kind!! Thank you and I’m so glad you both enjoy our videos 😊
Hello everyone
We went from thunderstorms and wind to high heat index of 114 degreesF!
My paternal Grandparents lived us until I was about 14. By then I had four siblings and it was getting crowded in the farmhouse. They moved just down the hill in a little two bedroom house that was build for them by Dad and the men in the family. I think of my Grandpa and what he would think of the bottled water, buying bagged dirt, the multitude of TV shows ( we only had one channel) , closets overfilled with clothing ( my Grandpa had two pair of shoes- everyday work boots and Sunday/Town shoes) he had maybe 5 pair of pants- one of which was Sunday pants. I wonder what he would think about fast food- we always had a regular meal at Lunchtime mostly veggies and cornbread. Grandpa passed in 1975 at the age of 88. Still miss him greatly as I spent more time with him than my Dad who was at work . Take Care and Happy Memorial Weekend.
Love those memories 😊
To sunshine and charming gardens and to gullible fishes on hooks :) Hope y'all have a good day, today, Tipper. Love to you all !
Love your comment.😊
Thank you 😊
Don’t fix what’s not broken. God bless u all. All we have is wind here in NM
I keep praying for everyone to be safe in these times of weather. The mosquitoes just exploded here, and they are vicious. Just terrible for those cleaning up after the storms. Stay safe everyone. God Bless all of those who serve to protect us.
I agree with you about the wisdom in "Where Corn Don't Grow". It's such a great song
But here's the Songwriters: Roger Murrah & Mark Alan Springer
Originally recorded by Waylon Jennings and then covered by Tritt.
My grandma used to say Don't borrow trouble meaning don't think what if what if. Enjoyed
Really enjoy your stories and updates! Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day!
Travis Tritt lived about a mile from me when I lived in Paulding County, GA. He still lives there. I would run into his wife shopping at the local Winn Dixie and Wal-Mart. I didn’t strike up a conversation but we would smile and say hello. Would also run into Travis running into the little gas station that sat on the main road between the road I lived on and the road he lived on. There’s was never an entourage or anything. Just two regular people out living life and everyone let them.
When you shared the first couple wisdoms it made me think of one we'd use to admonish ourselves for not paying attention or rushing. I'm sure this has happened to most and Matt may get a smile out of it. "We do it right because we do it twice."
Love that!
Tipper,
I absolutely love the mountaintop thumbnail you have on this video! That reminds me so much of my home up in Bath County, VA.
Good morning everyone! Thank you Tipper, I absolutely love these live videos on Monday and starting out the week connecting with everyone💛 I loved seeing Granny in Corie’s video, that video was amazing!!! I love seeing sites in your area, a place I may never see in my time. Thank you for recommendations, it gives us more ways to be connected, in one way or another💞💞💞💞
So glad you enjoy them! Thank you!!
My mom always said Can’t never could
that flea comment made me laugh OUT LOUD!!!! We would always say pinch a penny until it squeals.
We had Hurricane force winds in Terrell Texas and Surrounding areas this morning. Lots of Tree Damage!! No fatalities thank God . We are Safe!!!
Oh goodness that is bad weather!
These Monday chats are so refreshing to me. Thank you for sharing with us. Love to the family & Granny❤
Not for general publication 😂 but my Mum used to tell me when I was wishing for something to happen, "go ahead and wish in one hand and poop in the other one,, see which one gets full first" 🤣🤣
Never tried it, but I sure got her meaning lol.
Love to you and yours Tipper xxooxx
😊 Miss Cindy said that too!
Daddy told me “sometimes you just have to tough it out” ❤
From Aust, thanks Tipper, and for your mention of those music greats. I saw Granny on Corie's video. My first thought, I reckon Grany made that coat. Praise God, Granny looked so well. So, from me, Our God Bless you all. :)
Happy to hear Matt got to go fishing! Have to share that every few months I travel from Nashville to Camp Lejeune, NC to see my son who’s is stationed there. When I get to the Oakridge/Knoxville area, I know y’all are about 2 hrs south and always mark that point in my trip to say a prayer for your family. Last night I passed through that area in the midst of a raging storm. Lightning & thunder from the sky and rain rushing off the mountains. The windshield wipers were in high action and I wondered if y’all were getting the same. Once the storm passed, the fog started rising like smoke in the mountains and it seemed every possible shade of green came alive as the sun was setting. It’s not often I get to witness the mountains after a storm like that. Beautiful!
Thank you for thinking about us! Glad you had a safe trip 😊
Hi Tipper, I always enjoy your videos! Wish I could have caught the live though. Love this type of video about wiseness and updates. Glad to hear that granny is doing better, and for sure will watch the Pressley girls to enjoy granny and May in Appalachia ! Thank you for a great video today❤ and thank you to all our great men and women, also the fallen for keeping us free!
U Guys Rock Tipper. From My House to All of U! Such a Blessing that All of U r Fine, Godly and Sincere People. Rock On!
Would love to hear about your grandson sometimes and Katie as well
How are they
They are both doing good 😊
❤The Tornadoes in MO were All around Me & Family here in other towns aways from Me But Thank The Lord, 1 did come Close to Loved ones further down in MO Ozarks than Me. Some towns did not fair as Well.. ENJOYED THIS REPLAY OF THE LIVE. Granny looked SO BEAUTIFUL in Corie's Video. She Does deserve an AWARD!! ❤ GOD BLESS YOU ALL THERE!!
We had a tornado just a mile from my Granddaughter's apartment. We were so frantic to see on the internet that the tornado was hitting so close to her. She was home by herself and so scared. There have been so many storms here the last few weeks. God has been so good to protect us all. There were people killed including two children.
Praying for all of us. Praying for Granny, and a safe delivery for Corey and a very healthy baby boy.
I’m so glad she was okay. Thank you for the prayers!!
Our first cel phone was a bag phone that stayed in my husband's pick up.
I'm 64, and I don't buy water, especially when there's a bottle on a table in a hotel room with a sign saying "$5 will be added to your bill at checkout if this water is consumed." It's amazing how many people wouldn't think of getting a cup and filling it with water from the bathroom faucet!
You can tell she Adores her Matt 😊 I think Tilley is just so Sweet. I just Love how she’s a Chatty little thing? ❤
I love your channel. I'm not originally from the area and have been by Athens, GA for a bit over 3 years. Your channel has been helpful to appreciate the local area, history, and culture. I also enjoy a healthy positive channel as opposed to channels that complain/etc.
Thanks again and LOVE your channel! Matt will get a fish sometime soon!!
So glad you enjoy what we do! Thank you 😊
. I always enjoy seeing you and Matt. We had a tornado in area of Coweta county. Travis Tritt is a good singer.
Love you and your family and all the hard work you all put into your videos! My grandmother use to tell me many words of wisdom. She was so wise. I use to see other girls in school (that was many years ago) that would act as though they were better than anyone else and my grandmother would tell me this "just remember that they put there pants on the same way that you and I do.........one leg at a time. Thank you again for sharing your heritage with us. :)
Thank you so much!
Something I always tell my daughter when she is struggling or overwhelmed raising her sweet girls 5,3, and 1 with another on the way is “nothing ever stays the same. Just enjoy the those babies”.
Good afternoon from Central Florida
All right Matt. The Tech and Crafts guy.
Happy to catch the replay! I used to work at a greenhouse in Ohio. We didn’t call it dirt. It was called soil because it was a specific blend. Lol Thanks for the updates. I think my only brother got brain cancer from those bag phones. He traveled for work and he called his wife often. 😢. I guess we all come here to learn what we’re supposed to learn. Love the wisdoms! ❤🎉
TRAVIS TRIT HAS A GOSPAL ALBUM OUT CALLED COUNTRY CHAPEL WHEN GOD GIVES HIS LOVE IN HIS HEART.
Hello Tipper, Angela here. I told my mom that you said to tell her hello and she was tickled to pieces! She has heard all about your beautiful family and was amazed by how we can get to know people on here and talk this way and she wanted to say hello back to you! Her daddy moved here to Arkansas from NC when he was young. I am not sure exactly where in NC. He was a Meggs, used to be spelled Meigs, I believe. It is so much hotter here in Arkansas, and we were wishing he would have stayed in NC, but quickly realized that none of us would have been born if he had, lol!! I am going to watch Corie's video now as I cannot wait to see Granny. So thankful she is doing well!
That is so nice!! Thank you 😊
Where Corn Don't Grow is a terrific song!! Thank you!
Wonderful chat! I always enjoy hanging with you guys!
♥️
Love you to Tipper. I enjoyed hearing you talk so much.
You are so kind! Thank you 😊
I really respect your love and dedication for your family ❤
24:29 My Mom (because he was a "penny pincher") he's so tight his but squeeked when he walked 🤣😂🤣 but she loved to spend so they were perfect couple, ❤
Woohoo! I am finally seeing ads for Outshine pop cycles on the west coast!
When telling my grandma my troubles she would say It’s just another chapter in your book.
When I see a video is up I go grab a cup of tea and sit down for our visit. 🙂
Thank you!!
I LIVE IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF NASHVILLE,TN, AND WE DID HAVE THUNDERSTORMS. I DO WATCH GRANNY WOMEN. POOR GRANNY LOOKED SO PITIFUL AFTER HER FALL.
Patients, patience. We lived on an old county county road were people would stop in the road to talk. Long enough to keep one person wait. But if two people were in line it was time to go!
Give lord thanks for memorial day and always give thanks to lord enjoy life 🙏 that was so sweet Austin mama giving corie baby shower and happy memorial day to everyone 😊
The family who prayed together stayed together Momma would always say.
