    If you pull with your back straight (neutral curve) and chest up, you will have a good clean. The bar will take the nice, smooth path you see with elite lifters-no need to worry about clearing the knees, contact points, etc. (assuming you have the proper start position for your physiology). When I first started out, I overthought everything and my clean was segmented. After learning that one simple aforementioned cue, I had a “pro-looking” clean. It’s really that simple. The same applies for the snatch.

      What is your foot width, hip height to shoulder and hand grip and where is the bar in relation to your foot from the floor? I'm trying to figure out your initial setup that takes all the thought out.

    Strengths- deadlift & front squat
    Weaknesses- strict press & bench- this will help my relative strength

    I injured my back so I decided to use clean exercise as therapy.
    For me, once the bars @ my belly button I'm under it dropping into rebound stage & standing up...that quick.
    All right I'm using old school one inch 6 ft bar 18lbs & a 15 lb plate a side = 48 lbs...flick of the wrist oh it so easy verses power cleaning 135 lbs...@ age 62..

    I've been weight training for over 2 years, to include front squats and deadlifts, but I'm interested in adding clean and jerk movements into my routine. Any suggestions on how to implement into a workout routine?

      I would say to clean on your deadlift days before deadlifting, but I’m just a random internet stranger

      Better if you find yourself a good coach who actually knows how to do proper technique.
      If you can't, try to get the hang of the movement during 2-3 weeks with the bar only and record yourself to improve your technique.
      But again, I'm also just an internet stranger 😜

      @@carlosvalenzuela3369this is how I do it. Cardio Strengthening routine, then clean and press, then deadlifts. Helps my deadlifts so much.

    What does someonw like me do who has arthritis in one elbow which limits my ROM in one elbow? For this reason i also never do front squats.

      Cleans are a compound exercise
      Legs (hams, glutes, quads, and calves)
      Lower back and Upper Back (traps, lats)
      Depending if you jerk shoulders and abdominals are used as well
      Exercising is the health benefit
      The benefits of cleaning would be in everyday movement people do, lifting something from floor to chest height.

      A tangent: there is a specific benefit of doing power cleans which is increasing peak power output. I guess it only matters if do you competitive sports or if you like improving athleticism.
