That's interesting. I'm new to these, but '12 and '14 are both less appealing ones for me. I feel like this is very technically good, but it doesn't become something great in a new way. I like 2011's a lot more.

You can't just round 'everything' from 2012 to 3 years once 2015 starts-it depends on WHEN something was released. Gangnam Style itself came out in July 2012, so it's really only been 2- 2.5 years.

I'm really sad pop music nowadays isn't as good as it was in the early 2010s, but it also makes me very sure that there's a new 'golden era' of pop coming at some point. We can't stay in this weird depressed phase forever, it's gotta go uphill again at some point, we will have upbeat, confident songs again and I can't wait for it.
2021 was a big step up for pop music. It's getting more uptempo again, and top 40 radio is even playing a few rock songs again. The top 20 songs of 2021 were much better than 2020 IMO

I think it's because of the upbeat pop music itself. Pop was the dominant genre and was inescapable both in 2009 and 2012. As a whole where pop was the main force, it was 2008-2015. Whereas, 2016-present is a whole different era.

Yeah in this one the backgroud songs had more longevity and flow... changes were not as smooth in 2013 and the ramp up of the music itself was more energetic in this one.. but both are amazing. DJ Earworm has some serious talent.
