They violated the law without appraising the property value to the date of Jan 1st of each year. They appraised home value to the market peak value in 2022. Shifting tax burden from 70% homestead homeowners to non-homestead homeowners is not fair. All property owners should be taxed equally and fairly.
The homestead process in Bexar County is archaic and does not work! I have given up after trying for the last 7 years. Sure, the tax office sends out the forms "proactively". We must fill out the form and then snail mail it back to them, praying they do the work to hand jam it in correctly. TECH TIP: Would be nice to have an online form to submit and track the request.
