KUMIHIMO: Dōmyō Kiichirō on the history and beauty of kumihimo | Japan House London

Dōmyō Kiichirō is the tenth-generation CEO of Domyo a company that has been making kumihimo cords since 1652 and which is the sponsor of Japan House London's exhibition KUMIHIMO: Japanese Silk Braiding by DOMYO.
Though brought up with close experience of the making of kumihimo in his family firm, Dōmyō originally trained and worked as an architect before taking over as CEO of the company.
Japan House London interviewed him at his company's workshop in Tokyo to ask about his research into the development of kumihimo in Japan, from its origins in the Silk Roads, the detailed beauty of this art form and his hopes for its future.
