So after speaking with Hansu they’ve since updated their site to include the weight tolerance and center hole size.
How about a site that has prices in USD? Your link only gives CAD.
I'm guessing they're not made in the USA?
@@bmstylee well you could just put it into a converter on google
@@bmstylee I mentioned this in the video :)
@@iii-ei5cv no sir!
I like that you can put these plates on a barbell and then do lifts with them. If it's too heavy you can just take them off. Or if it's too light you can put more on. Do this process frequently and you'll get stronger. Or weaker. Also, I like how well Brandon sounds while talking about these plates. He seems really nice and personable while he also speaks with confidence and authority. I feel like he's a good person. Good review.
Lol thanks Jon.
Technically if you live in a state that charges sales tax you still have to report and pay when you go to file your taxes. And technically, I'm a lot of fun at parties.
😂
That’s taking “Pay the man” to the next level.
Haha!!
Yeah and Hansu is based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Which if you live there you are forced to pay pst (provincial sales tax)
What if i dont pay
definitely worth thinking about! I like that the design continues through all wts
Yeah nice to see!
Nice to hear you acknowledge they should be facing in. Made my day.
Always!
Thanks for the great review, I am needing plates and these are now at the top of my list as options I want.
They're pretty nice!
Always great content Brandon!!!
Thanks man!
Thank you for all the videos you make! Just pulled the trigger on a garage gym and bought a Rep Pr 5000 from their Memorial Day sale
That is awesome!
I just got these plates and i have to say im quite impressed. Look good. They almost look machined, fit tight on the bar, and the weight is spot on. You cant beat these for the price. Thank you brandon for broadcasting these plates.
That's awesome to hear. I think Hansu has some real good bang for the buck going on right now (especially considering the free shipping).
@@BasementBrandon one thing about them. The paint chips off of them if anything touches them
Hey, how have these plates held up the past couple of years? I'm looking to buy a set. Thanks!
That's crazy I like how the bells plates look
To each their own!
Man i love the look of those. somehow old school and modern at the same time
Was pleasantly surprised.
With so many things out of stock I had to go with a couple BoS 45s that are now on the way. I had never heard of the Hansu but they look way more my style! Good specs.
Yeah downside of buying anything, as soon as you do, something else comes out lol
These are pretty nice for the value. Still think I would stick with upgrading to the Hansu calibrated plates or grabbing The Strength Co. milled plates.
Yeah I don't think i'd replace what I had with them, but for someone looking for some nice deep dish plates, these might be worth it!
Just picked up 4 pairs of these, and because of a sale and the current CAD to USD conversion, got them for about $1.54/lb. Can't wait for them to arrive!
You can also stack code basement now for an additional 5% off
I literally only click your videos and listen for your dry humor at this point 😂
Appreciated :)
Good review. Your comment on what you get may not be what I get is spot on.
We received 2610 lb of Rogue revolvers for our gym 3 weeks ago. The price increase was disappointing but the casting quality, powder coat finish, and calibration of the plates was near perfect, much better than the revolvers you reviewed.
My six shooters were awesome!
Subbed. Good stuff Basement Brandon.
Thanks Mike!
After watching your review went on line and ordered some 45s never heard of this company before great video!!!
Hope you dig em!
Over here dyin at the G' Thang drop for the 35's! Gotta have em!
I'm very upset with you, B. I've been trying to avoid getting steel plates, which I want badly, and had moved on. These are super, super tempting. Check a lot of boxes. Non-machined is the only thing that gives me pause. The free shipping and cost are awesome.
Def a nice surprise for cast plates!
The one dislike is from the ups guy
Lol
UPS drivers start at over $40 per hour. They can deal with multiple boxes of plates.
getting jacked
Wait what? $40
@@sweetchildofnine6677 It's a highly lucrative job and not surprisingly hard to get. UPS workers generally have to spend several years as package handlers before they can apply.
@@R32R38 shout out to them! However I feel sorry for whoever Coop's designated UPS driver is...however that dudes job is basically a gym membership
Solid review man. Way better than grey B.O.S plates. I was going to say why plates are *facing outwards* but you covered that too. lol
Surprisingly some people do this as "normal"
@@BasementBrandon they can’t be trusted 😂
I think the BoS advantage is that they offer machined plates at +/- 1% (less than half a pound off is better than almost a pound off!), and for the ones I have (5's and 2.5's acting as change plates), the center holes are tight. It's difficult just to one hand them onto the sleeves actually. If their larger plates are the same, should be good (like Strengthcos tight fit). Seems to be just colour that trips everyone up. That being said, in Canada at least, it's cheaper to go with Hansu's for the 45's and 25's with the free shipping, saving $250+. I could see myself with a set of 10 of these Hansu 45's, and bells for 25's and 10's, painted to the dark gray of the Hansus. Rogue's shipping cost here and Strengthcos, doesn't make a nice set of steel plates very feasible to obtain. Seems like BoS and Hansu are the best options for the common man in Canada.
Thanks for the video. I agree, these plates really are aesthetically pleasing. If I mixed some bumpers in with these do you think they would see accelerated damage or would they be fine?
They'd be fine!
Awesome, thanks!
Free shipping is unheard of here in Canada except for Costco bumpers which appear as often as Sasquatch. Good for them!!!
And they're based in CA too IIRC
Honestly I'm damn glad I found your videos. We can't get Rogue, The Strengh Co, Rep etc easily here in Singapore because of the absurd shipping but we have some people bringing in things like Hansu and LXJ. Was a bit hesitant on them until I found your reviews. Seems like these are going to be a nice step up from the Chinese rebrands that we usually find here.
I've been pretty satisfied with both!
@@BasementBrandon Would you recommend these for outdoor use, assuming that I'll cover them with a tarp to protect them from rain etc? I'm currently using rubber-coated iron plates and I've been noticing that the rubber is noticeably degrading and even melting slightly in some areas due to how hot is it here in the day.
@@diablolrm90 I still think these will weather in time due to humidity and being outside.
26 new plates, jesus thats amazing
Gym is getting full lol
Urethane Lu XiaoJun plates look dope
They do look nice. Have liked the plates I've gotten from them (bumpers)
Brandon I recently saw Maxx Chewning do a collab with Will Tennyson and it reminded me of the fitness youtuber glory days like 7 years ago when everyone did collabs often. Go meet up with your boy Nick Wright since he's relatively close to you!
Collabs back then were just ways to inflate sub count. TBH I don't really care as much about that anymore. I have talked to Nick though and told him he has an open invite to the basement.
Definitely looks like there machined on the backs from that close up, do they all look like that or was it just a fluke on the one plate
It may be the plate they used to make the cast was machined.
They sure are purdy!
agreed
I'm digging that hammer tone finish. Honestly, I dont like the e-coat. Mine are already a little banged up.
Ah don't tell me that!
I haven't gotten my hands on these. However, even in the thumbnail, you can see some casting flaws on the face of the plate - not a good sign. This was filmed a year ago before Bells of Steel released their deep dish. How do you feel about these Hansu DD vs. BoS DD?
Casting on these is actually pretty good, especially considering their cost. These are like $150 a pair delivered ($137 BF deal too). Hard to beat for the cost.
How much of a difference is there from the center hole tolerance on these plates than the bells of steel machined plates?
They're almost identical in terms of specs
You should review the equipment from ISF (I Sell Fitness). Love their bumper plates and they have very nice bars.
I've done a few of their things!
@@BasementBrandon awesome! When I looked into the company before buying I was looking for reviews from you and Coop. Must have totally missed them.
I'll train with you, Brandon!
Woo!
Bells of Steel is doing free shipping to Toronto today ONLY because they are launching a new Toronto location thank god because I had to give up on them due to shipping. I'm going all in on a Brute rack with lat and cable crossover attachments. Too bad their other bars are OOS so I'll go with a utility bar. I just watched your review on BOS machined plates and I agree I don't like the look although machined would be nice. I was gonna buy York deep dish but these....damn boi I think I'm gonna commit to a set of these because these things are sexy.
Keep up the great work Brandon appreciate your vids. I'm about to join the home gym gang in my new first home at the end of June :)
awesome to hear their offering some good deals locally!!
Hey Brandon. Looking for some advice. Bought some equipment to start my home gym. I need to build a platform. My basement has concret underneath some short hair carpet. Do you think a 3layer plywood platform is sufficient enough? Trying to save on costs and would rather cover the platform with more rubber than wood. Top wood piece cut to 3 or 3.5ft. Thoughts? TYIA
*3 vs 5 layer
I think that's more than enough
Great Review. How Long did They Take to ship to you in RI? I am in NY. I ordered a pair of 25 2 weeks ago and they have not shipped yet. They are in stock. Shipping time seems to be really bad with them.
Mine got here quick but this was awhile ago. I would reach out!
That’s a great plate. Only detractor (as you mentioned) is the lack of change plates. I am a little picky and like for my sets to match. If they come out with matching change plates I am all in for another set I don’t need.
Rogue deep dish is a complete miss for me as I am routinely deadlifting over 600lbs and that just doesn’t work well with those plates.
Agreed, doesn't make sense at that weight!
If you were set on the rogue deep dish plates, but are concerned about space on the bar, why wouldn't you just order 1 or 2 sets of 100lbs plates?
U the man squat and deadlift at the same time that's impressive
Don't have an option lol
@@BasementBrandon always makeing gainz hahaha
Hey Brandon! I'm wondering if these plates are similar to typical iron cast in terms of scratching the sleeve of your barbell. Would love these but I'm concerned with the health of my barbell. Do let me know what you think!
All mine were really smooth on the inside. However you'll find tight fitting plates will rub, so if you have cerakoted sleeves they'll get scuffed up.
@@BasementBrandon alrighty. appreciate the insight.
Cool, they Nice G

Are the 45's the normal 17 and change inch diameter? Or are they smaller like alot of cheaper plates
Nope standard 17.7"
I know you like ghost strong roller cups , what about there plates ? I am thinking of getting them
They are similar to other plates on the market, most are made in the same factories with just updated logo/text.
Keep rep'n those 35's!
always!
How long did these plates take to arrive from the day of order? I ordered some plates almost a week ago and still no tracking information?
about 2 weeks total as they come from Canada. I'd shoot them an email.
Hey Brandon! Looking at picking about 20 of these 45's for my home gym. Would you still recommend? How have they held up?
I think if you want a deep dish style plate, these are really hard to beat for the price!
@@BasementBrandon Just ordered. They need to give you commission!
@@ernie0753 Let me know what you think once you get em!
Other than the look, is there a benefit to deep dish plates? Like if I don't care how it looks I just want good plates, is there a reason to consider deep dish ones? He mentions easier to handle but regular plates aren't really hard to handle.
Kind of. Back in the day they were made deeper for ease of handling, but mostly b/c it distributed the weight more over the floor and you had less chance of breaking them or the floor. Basically bumpers before there were bumpers.
Clicked on the word budget! #dadlife
Haha budget is always relative!
Should I wait for black friday to buy Rogue Olympic plates from Rogue Canada or take advantage of the free shipping Hansu is offering? I won’t need more than 4 pairs but these cheaps weights I have now are killing me lol
I wouldn't hold out for rogue to offer free shipping to Canada. These are the best deal in town right now imo
Black frday is a ways away!
want!
pretty nice!
they should of put a Hanzo power with a Scorpion placed where the dumbell is at. A mortal Kombat Hanzo edition cast iron plates would be sick.
lol
I’ll come train with you Brandon..😎
Yessir!
So whats the deal with shipping? The company is out of canada so do they charge for shipping?
No
I am interested to know if they knew they were sending this to you? If so, they could cherry-pick what they are sending.
I don't think they would TBH
It's awesome that you review brands that ship to Canada. I like to have my options open when I intend to buy any gym equipment, but there aren't many that do ship here and with your video, I note the brands so that I do not forget. I mean apart from Rogue and a few local shops here, there aren't that many. And I find that local companies charge more for some reason, unless you pick the item at their store.
There's a company out of Canada also making custom plates which might interest you.
@Your Name they go by custommachinedweights on IG
Is my monitor tripping or do these "Sparkle"? If so they would be awesome with my lights popping off it
They do have a gloss finish, but would not say they sparkle.
@@BasementBrandon
Thanks Bdogg
Will these be okay with a 28 mm diameter bar?
Yes, not an issue.
I ordered the Bells of Steel Machined Plates after watching your video (thanks! hopefully getting the delivery today!). What are your thoughts on those versus these Hansu plates? If I had known about the Hansu earlier, I might have gone that route since the weight tolerance seems comparable to the BoS machined ones, they offer free shipping in Canada (unlike BoS), and I have to admit these plates look much better. Although not having change plates is kind of a deal-breaker.. but I'm sure they'll have those in the future. Is there any benefit of machined plates anymore if cast iron ones are as good as these?
I still think machined are better overall. My biggest gripe with the BoS is just their look, which I think is minor compared to the other pros!
@@BasementBrandon I just got them delivered today! And damn they really not pretty! LOL but at this point I don't care, I'm just so glad I finally have weights.. I've had an empty bar and squat rack for weeks.
@@LeetGarra time to get more jacked.
now now, I would gladly train with you. You just live in the wrong state to come to my garage!
You need more 35s for me.
Are you going to address what’s going on between you and Titan? I’m hearing rumors. Do you still recommend their racks? I recall you had an X3
What kind of rumors? They deleted me from their affiliates b/c I said I wouldn't buy anything from them again, but still recommend them to others depending on what they're looking for. I think they have some good budget friendly options (like the X3 and the SSB), but they've always been a shady company to me (which I've said since before they brought me on as an affiliate).
@@BasementBrandon I heard that they fired you. Are you going to make a video about it?
@@ramybroudefan8659 Fired would imply I worked for them. They just deactivated my affiliate account. Nothing really more to say, so no need for a video.
I'll train with you!

Where the hell do you keep all these 45s? Did you buy 9 pairs of Strength Co and another brand?
I'm going to do a basement tour today I think.
Always jealous when you get more gym equipment! I don't even have one 45-lbs. plate LMAO
Time to start!

You’re welcome UPS Guy LOL hahaha😂
He hates me.
just to bring it to the people’s attention, I have noticed that the UPS colors are the same colors as human excrement. What can brown doo-doo for you? Now that I’ve said that, it will live in the hearts and minds of the people forever. Every time they see another UPS commercial, they will say an additional “doo” either out loud or in their head. But you’ll laugh so I don’t even feel bad for writing it...your welcome! ;-D

Nice, didn't have a calculator handy
Rogue is rogue if you ever want to resell rogue will be king always
Right
I'm curious what's the difference between deep dish plates vs idk the CAP ones you can get at Academy?
Is it just for looks or an actual purpose for their form
I think the design has its roots in old school Olympic lifting where you wanted a wider contact surface for dropping the weights.
Right! Basically bumpers before there were bumpers.
You’d find more friends who’d wanna lift with ya if you lose those 35’s rofl
Kidding. It would be an honor to lift in that room, maybe even touch that Prime lat pulldown machine.
those who come down to the basement never leave...
No 55 pound plate? :(
no sir
These plates are fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and i disliked the steel calibrated ones because i felt the design was boring. But it looks really good on the deep dish. 💪💪💪
appreciate the feedback!
Can one ever have enough weight plates? 🤔
I'm close to finding out
I don’t like a lot of Ps in my life. Lmao
I have a single pair of rogue deep dish and I love them. My others are their bone yard standard plates. I want to get some uniformity and I think the deep dish is dope. I’m also not that strong. Pulled 501 in competition so I’m not going to run out of room on the barbell, QUESTION but do you think the extra width has any meaningful negative considerations for training? I don’t want to train with plates twice as wide and then at a meet it throw me off.
Prob more just a visual thing. Meaning if you look at 495lbs with deep dish plates it's going to take up most of the sleeves. If you look at the same weight in kilos on the platform it will take up half the space, so it might look less but will feel just as heavy if not heavier.
sheesh i’ve never been this early
Some frown upon coming early.
These plates look so goddamn good, but I can't put more money in my gym right now. Pissed because the shipping is free for a limited time D':
I hear ya! I need to do some spring cleaning, I have too much stuff right now.
I might be the only one who actually likes the Bells of Steel grey lmao
one of the few!
I use their 5’s and 2.5’s for my change plates and i like them too! Would have went for a full set had I already not had what I needed in Bumpers.
I guess I'm the oddball who didn't mind the BOS plates.
Confirmed.
35s are kinda worthless. However they do make a nice level surface to set your coffee on while you lift if you turn them upside down.
Unsub right now!!
I'll be your friend, haha. Poor Brandon.

Wasn't the point of getting the strength co and selling the rogue shooters to have american made plates. Why get these then?
These are for review purposes only.
i continue to be jealous of all of you on the mainland lol
Sorry!
@@BasementBrandon haha it's all good.
why are deep dish popular - doesn't that limit how many plates you can put on the bar?
It will. However most won't have to worry about it if we're going to be honest with ourselves. Most won't get to 585lbs or 6 a side on any lift. Even 495 isn't exactly light.
I think for aesthetics.
People use 35lbs plates?
only the smart ones.

I get they're not machined, but I swear I see machining marks on the back of those plates.
Weird.
Anyway, great review. I'm trying to steer clear of Chinese-made plates, but these are almost enough to change my mind.
Yeah that's why I threw that close up in, with their accuracy and those marks they sure seem that way, but Hansu tells me they're cast only.
Cast plates are made from a mold, and the mold is usually made from a plate that was machined. If there are machining marks on the original plate, they can potentially transfer to the mold and then the casted plate. This is most likely why they look that way.
@@BasementBrandon Wierd.
