In Nancy Meyers' The Holiday, a romantic comedy from the director of Something's Gotta Give and What Women Want, two women trade homes only to find that a change of address can change their lives. Iris (Winslet) is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda (Diaz), realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Iris moves into Amanda's L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris' handsome brother Graham (Law) and Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur (Wallach), mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles (Black).

Arthur and Iris are the best relationship in this movie.
AGREED. I enjoyed seeing Graham and Amanda's love and he is MUCH more worthy of her fragile heart than the guy she broke up with, but I honestly wish they would have just left Jack Black out of it entirely and just focused on Iris's friendship with Arthur. He helped her far more than Jack Black did, when it came to healing her broken heart and giving her wisdom and insight and the courage to respect herself as a woman. I thought their bond was adorable.
Rest in Peace, Eli Wallach. I loved his scenes with Kate in this movie, especially when he points out that she's the "leading lady who's acting more like the best friend."

Okay,thanks for the info :) Btw,the scene where Arthur is telling Iris to quit letting Jasper run all over her and start running her own life,that’s also my favorite scene of all the scenes that they did in this movie.
My favourite part of that scene is Kate's response. Her delivery of those next lines make me cry.
Man, I just love their chemistry.

I want to see the movie that centers on the friendship between Iris and Arthur without the rushed Jack Black romance. Iris grows to appreciate herself through Arthur's guidance, then meets a potential romantic partner towards the end of the movie.
