Decarbonization 101: A YPG Event

We hear the word “decarbonization” all the time these days, but what does it really mean and what does it entail? RMF Engineering Director of Sustainability, Martha Larson, will lead a high-level overview of the decarbonization movement and what it means for district energy.
Before joining RMF, Martha led a decade-long program to decarbonize the Carleton College campus in Northfield, MN. Projects included installation of two on-site wind turbines, rooftop solar thermal and solar PV arrays, electric vehicle charging stations and a full campus wide transition from steam to hot water distribution and geothermal heat pumps. The result was a nearly 70% reduction in the campus carbon footprint, as well as many lessons learned along the way.
