The Chinese Fujian is irrelevant to challenge Indian naval assertion in IOR. This is a 80k tonne carrier but conventionally powered hence dependent on support vessels for refuelling. Hence Fujian doesn't provide blue water capabilities to PLA navy & is no match to American Ford class super carriers two of them that the USA navy has deployed near South China Sea & Philippines. Neither PLA navy has hitech naval fighters like F-35 to pose any threat to Indian navy. Further the PLA navy SSN nuclear attack submarines aren't quite & stealthy like hitech USA and hence Indians will easily track them with P8I fleet & easily hunt them. Only when the Chinese 4th nuclear powered carrier is constructed & inducted the Chinese PLA navy can challenge Indians in IOR. However India can neutralize that with a two pronged strategy over next 10-15 years. Firstly strengthening Sea denial capabilities by inducting a large fleet (12-18) of indegienously built Nuclear attack submarines SSNs in multiple foreign technical partnerships with USA, France, Germany & Japan to get best of latest technologies in nuclear reactors, advanced sonars & propulsion. Secondly not wasting resources in constructing sister ship of Vikrant IAC-2 as these small carriers that can deploy merely 18 fighters provide no additional capabilities to Indian navy. Conventionally powered small carriers won't provide you capability to challenge Chinese in South China or East China sea. As regards dominating IOR, 2 carriers are well aided by unsinkable carriers in Andman Nicobara & Lakshdweep islands. Here large naval & airforce base should be developed to full scale to take care of both Eastern & Western fronts in IOR. To take the battle to Chinese backyard India needs to build two nuclear powered supercarriers. Starting with a 75-80k tonne carrier and than graduating to Ford class 100k tonne carrier in next 15-20 years. Here India can take American assistance in carrier vessel design, nuclear powerhouse & emals to shortern timelines. USA will be most forthcoming in helping India to challenge Chinese in their backwaters sharing burden with them in Indo-Pacific.
